I came here thinking the first 90 minutes would be free because that's what was advertised on the small business' Yelp I was trying to visit. I came today and there was a sign for sharks game, no 90 minutes free however it was a $10 flat charge to park. For someone who just wanted to go in and out of one particular business and didn't have intentions on staying beyond 15 minutes this is frustrating. They are subsidizing parking for sharks fans but not for everyone paying small businesses inside a visit to pick up food.
I didn't want to pay $10 so I left. Not worth it if you're just going in and out, and they should cut the rest of us some slack.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Dec 13, 2018
I parked here to attend the Silicon Valley Pride Parade back in August. It was incredibly convenient to the festivities at Cesar Chavez Park. It's right off of Market Street. There are 2 entrances and 3 exits, one express exit works for parkers upstairs.
However, I didn't like the stairwell. In fact, I need to bring face masks next time I come visit San Jose. The stinky urine stained every single step. Seriously. I don't know how people park here every day can survive this smell.
The self help payment kiosks were all broken on first floor that Sunday. One cash-only machine on 4th floor exit was out of order. So, I had to pay it with credit card.
San Pedro Parking Garage has been here for many decades. As I recall I parked here in the 80's for new year eve celebration at Club St John's, my car was vandalized. Luckily, police caught the vandals who jumped on top of dozen car hoods. Nothing serious. Just a piece of memory from my good old days.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 1 - Aug 1, 2018
The place is a bit confusing as you can park on the ground floor only via one entrance. Level 2 is only premium parking and the best spot to leave your car is level 3.
The ticket machine was broken on the first floor and I had to look a bunch for another one. The pricing is actually fairly good and it is a great spot to park if going to San Pedro Square or SAP center.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Oct 12, 2015
I like it. $5 flat rate parking on weekend AND free with validation. Score! Came a few hours before a San Jose Sharks game. Thank goodness, since we managed to snag the $5 rate before they increased it to $7 (still not a bad rate).
For those who are technologically challenged, when paying for the ticket, enter the entry ticket first and then the validation ticket. So in the end, we ended up parking for free on a Saturday evening. Sounds good to me.Helpful 6Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - 1522182816526Feb 4, 2017
We parked here today as we were going to the Original Gravity Public House as it was the closest Park SJ lot (the pub validates which made parking free Saturday). I would park here again if I needed to or it was close by but it was ridiculous on how it's designed. It makes it absolutely impossible to go down to other levels to find parking and the exits on multiple levels were broken and trashed so you couldn't get out. Also one of the payment machines was also out of order.
The validation was interesting as the establishment basically give you a stub to use as payment to the machine versus a validation or stamp thing that I'm used to.
The smells also are strong in the garage and the stairwells as well.
This parking garage is really convenient to San Pedro square and it's great if you're going to a place that validates as parking is expensive (weekdays validation is 2 hours free and weekends completely free). as it's a flat fee of $5 on the weekends. Again, I'd only park here if whatever I needed to go to was nearby.Helpful 19Thanks 0Love this 15Oh no 0 - May 14, 2017
Our car was parked inside this garage on this Mothers Day evening. After a wonderful dinner, walking to our car, a crazy fight broke out. A group of men punching one man on the ground. There was a ton of screaming and swearing. I was stunned. More then stunned.
There are cameras all over this garage. It the security person decided to stay in the safety of his booth.
My son rushed in and broke it up. We called the police but they were too busy to to get there. I was completely hysterical. I have never had to react to something like this. Why are tempers so high on Mothers Day? Too many mimosas and fruit salad?
This was unexpected and frightening. If this parking garage has attendants who don't want to get involved, they should hire people who will actually leave the comfort of their office and do the messy stuff. If there is fighting, they need to take charge. This shouldn't be left to people trying to get their car.
There is a real breakdown in civility. San Jose clearly needs more officers in the downtown area. Next time, if my son rushes in to help, I'm following. I carry a big purse and I won't be afraid to use it.
The manager should review the tapes from this evening and make some changes. Your security guards do absolutely nothing.
Maybe uber to dinner in San Jose.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - 1218302341Sep 20, 2016
Like other parking garages operated by the city, it's convenient, covered, and $5.00.
Pay before returning to your vehicle at one of the machines on the ground level. The machine accepts cards or cash.Helpful 6Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0
