Maykadeh has the best Kebob in the Bay Area. We specialize in succulant lamb dishes and have a variety of lamb entrees on the menu. Persian cuisine is one of the unexpected. While our basic ingredients are familiar to most, such as lamb & rice, the ingredients that enhance it, while not unknown, are used infrequently in Western cuisine: pomegranates, pistachio nuts, saffron, dried lime, rosewater, yogurt, cardamom, cloves, barberry, fenugreek, the unique spice sumak--the list is endless. Persia's cuisine influenced all of the Middle East and its array of color, texture & flavors is one we invite you to share at Maykadeh.…

One of my fav restaurants in the city - I started eating out less but before I would come here once a week haha

I will say their vegan options are limited to none, BUT if you love grilled meats and just good persian food please come here!

Standouts are the lamb tongue (don't knock it till you try it - it's filled with saffron and cream I love it, and it's so tender). I also love the chicken koobideh (the most tender chicken ever) and the beef koobideh ofcourse!

Parking is a bit tough here but they have valet

Maykadeh has an unparalleled reputation when it comes to the quality and consistency of menu dishes and their unique flavors.

I have been a guest of Maykadeh for years, whether visiting in person with family, inviting friends to join me for dinner, or ordering online. Each and every experience has lived itself to its most fulfilled purpose. When ordering for home or inviting guests, there was no shortage of comments addressed to food and its quality, and in retrospect, a taste of home: food made with love, quality, and care.

Additionally, Maykadeh staff has an utmost respect for their clients. Staff is very professional, and has appreciation for their guests, as individuals and 'gourmets' invited to try Persian food :). Thank you, Maykadeh, for your impeccable service, quality, and delivery. It is hard to find restaurants that maintain this integrity year after year. Highly recommend to visit this place; prepare to really enjoy your meal!

Having a wife who is Persian has opened my eyes to the fantastic Persian culture and the great flavors of the cuisine. I have been to Maykadeh quite a few times; but tonight was "exceptional." "Exceptional" in this case means exceptionally BAD.

We made a reservation for 25 people, picking Maykadeh to celebrate the New year. Arriving at the restaurant and being escorted to their new "back room", we were surprised to find a long table set for 20 ppl. Did I mention our reservation was for 25? How can you confirm a reservation for 25 guests, but set a table for 20? Is it too hard to accept a reservation for 25? The answer is "YES!", it is too hard to take a large reservation.

With 5 of our party standing around looking aimlessly around a near empty room, the waiter and head waitress looked at each other trying to figure out where to seat them.

They grabbed a "round" cocktail table and put it off to the side and segregated the extra 5 people from the main group. How ridiculous to have our guests sit by themselves; they looked like they were being punished and put at the "kids" table. We finally told the Waiter and Head waitress to add another square table to the long table and accommodate them. Does it really have to be this hard?

The answer is "YES!", it does have to be this hard to have enough chairs for 25 ppl.

Can you not have planned better? Did I mention that we were assigned 2 servers to serve 25 people? You can feel it in the air that this was not going to be a great experience.

FOOD: BREAD baskets were promptly set on the table first. Nice warm, soft, bread.... and nothing else. No butter. No onion. No radish. No mint. No basil. No Walnuts. See where I am going with this? We even had to "ask" for the radish side dish many times before they started bringing them out. To be fair, they did bring them out.... 15 minutes later. Is it too hard to "pre-prep" radish baskets?

The answer must be "YES!", it is too hard to bring them out with the bread.

DRINKS: the wait staff did not take our drink orders. They told us to go to the bar ourselves and order. REALLY? we have to get up from the table and get our OWN drinks from the bar. Is it too hard for the Servers to take our drink orders?

The answer must be "YES!" it is too hard to take drink orders at the table!

Main courses - we ordered a family platter of mixed meats; mostly Khoobideh beef, chicken and filet mignon (barg). How many skewers do you think the restaurant cooked per person?

I would have assumed each person should get at least 2 skewers of meat at a minimum. How much food was ACTUALLY cooked? About 1/2 skewer per person. NOT 1/2 skewer of each meat, HALF a skewer of meat per person. Let's see... 25 people. Should be 50 skewers of meat at least. They didn't even provide enough roasted tomatoes. We had cut all the tomatoes in 1/2 so everyone had enough. How can you cook only 12 tomatoes for 25 people? Is there a Tomato shortage? Not enough tomatoes in the kitchen? Is it too hard to run to Safeway and purchase more tomatoes for us?

The answer is "YES!" it is too hard to have enough tomatoes to cook.

RICE: as you know, rice is the main starch of any good Persian meal. Usually, hot white fully rice is plated and served to each person. The rice was hot, the rice was fluffy, but did I mention they RAN OUT of Saffron to pour on top of the rice? Usually, you would pour Saffron to finish off each rice plate.

OUR RICE? 6 of us had a "drop" of Saffron the size of Quarter on top of our rice plate. Maybe it was nickel size. Maybe it was dime size. You get the picture. If you STARED at your rice long enough, you can almost "imagine" there was a yellow spot in the middle of our plate. Again, is it too hard to melt butter with Saffron to flavor our rice?

The answer must be "YES!" it is too hard for you to make more Saffron for our rice plate.

I would normally say this might have been an "off" night, but too many mistakes were made and the combination of bad service AND bad food makes it easy for me to say "YES!", this was a bad meal for sure.

      Mmmmm Maykadeh is the place!
The space is awesome with a bi monthly band that is upbeat. Exceptional food with many vegetarian options. Come on in and take a needed respite from the hectic day to day. This is the ultimate hideaway from the drone of tourists in North Beach.

So happy I found this place. I'm from SoCal so Persian food is one of my favorites. There's not too many in the city but this one is a gem.
The food I ordered was amazing. The quality tastes so good and juicy. I ordered the Chelo Kebab Koobideh and it was perfect, just what I wanted. I also got the Kashke Bademjan since it was a popular item and I can see why. It's a great dip. The service was soo kind and fast. I came in for my lunch on a Monday, it was really slow but I got great service.
The space was big and beautiful. Definitely a good spot for groups. I'll keep this place in mind for a large dinner group in the future.

What an absolute joke this place has become. $50 for kabob? To begin with that's the most offensive thing. Then you have matters like - won't do half rice half salad you have to order salad as an extra item. Then to top it all off the meat as so much meat tenderizer in it you lose any of the actual flavor. I'm beyond embarrassed by this place now. How sad. And the owner has the audacity to tell someone at a table next to me that this is the way we have operated for 41 years. No hat guy, no it isn't but I'm def done coming here

The food at Maykadeh was very delicious and fresh. It took a while for the food to arrive but it was worth it. I wish they had a more casual vibe because I would probably be here soo often. I can't wait to return. And all the staff was nice!

The quality of the food was not good, and the koobideh tasted like kotlet, smelled like gas.
The prices did not match with their website and The portion did not match other Persian restaurants.
      Probably won't come back.

You can park in front of the restaurant, and don't pay the $30 parking fee, because we saw others did not pay, but we paid.

The food here is great and the staff are very nice. We came here to meet a friends and his Persian family. Coincidentally it was his mother's birthday too and we celebrated with a cute caramel pudding offered from the staff.
The must try food is Chicken Koobideh, its very juicy and tenderness with the rice. The kebob is very soft and can feel the softness for every single grab of kebob. I'd highly recommend this dish. One dish is good for two people.
Parking is hard during busy times, but able to find a block from the restaurant, its a hilly side place to park. The ambience is good.

Maykadeh was recommended by one of my clients! On a cold, rainy night, we came here to do take out of two chicken breast kabab plates. When we got home, we were shocked at how much food it was especially the meats! For $26 a plate it's not cheap but the amount of food and quality they give you, was worth it. The chicken breasts was marinated very well, lots of flavor. You get a big, juicy tomato, side of string beans, bell peppers, onions over a large bed of rice. I ate as much as I could but still had leftovers. The food also came with a box of mint salad and pita breads. I can't rave enough about Maykadeh! We really enjoyed it! Even our cat can't resist and kept sniffing around because he wanted a piece of chicken! We will definitely be back!
