Mi Pueblo-Petaluma

Great food! Had the combination plate. Generous portions! Service was top notch. Will definitely go there again!

I had a dear friend visiting from Canada recently. She was staying in Petaluma and was dying for some good Mexican food, which is hard to come by where she's from. I've heard lots of good things about Mi Pueblo so we decided to try it.

It was noon on Sunday and the place was packed! Thankfully we were able to be seated right away. The decor in the restaurant is really fun, from the painted walls to the carved furniture. They brought us some fresh chips, salsa, and refried beans (to dip, I love it when places do that). The salsa was delicious and not too spicy.

I wasn't super hungry so I chose their appetizer of chimichanguitas with shredded chicken and my friend went with a shrimp burrito. The food arrived quickly and was fresh and flavorful. The chicken in my dish was seasoned very well. Even though it was considered an appetizer, I had plenty of leftovers. My friend enjoyed her burrito very much.

The service was very friendly and made sure to always keep our water glasses full and came to check on us a handful of times. I was impressed with everything and would definitely return.

I've been going to this restaurant for years and it is good but recently too expensive. The cost of the dishes needs to come down. I pictured the shrimp cocktail I picked up today. To my surprise, it's now $26! It's mostly tomato juice and avocado so that price is ridiculous.

Mi Pueblo, as I understand it, is an institution of Petaluma. I only moved to town in 2019, so I didn't grow up with fond memories eating here as a kid. Regardless, in my opinion the food was undeniably average.

The decor is bright, the restaurant is clean, the wait staff is friendly, and the food wasn't terrible. All in all, you could do a lot worse for mexican food, but at the same time nothing we ordered really stood out either.

I had a wet Chile Relleno burrito, which they warned me was not spicy. I asked them to make it spicy, but it was pretty mild still.

Drinks were a little on the pricey side for margaritas, but still not bad.

One nice touch was they noted we had a 6 year old at the table and the server gave us a side of extra mild salsa. My kid loved it.

You can't beat their Chile Relleno burrito but I have found the rest of their menu to be pretty mediocre. The service is usually good and pretty fast.

Our entire group from work were looking for a cosy place to have dinner, some booze, and spicy Mexican food. We came to this place which is not in the central Petaluma area but little bit away, but this place has ample parking and easy to get in and out. The restaurant is very cosy, very well decorated for Christmas with lights and it felt good to be seated. The food portions are large, please make sure that you are really hungry if you have to order a single dish for yourself. We all hated wasting food but we ended up wasting a lot of food because we should not be wasting food. Although that is not their fault, the food was not at par with some of the Mexican food I have had in the Bay Area. I have a Camerones a la diabla which was supposed to be spicy but this was average and I had to put more tapioca to spice it up. Other had the burritos, veg and non-veg and they said it was plain and not spicy, but overall the ambience of the place is good . My friend sitting next to me had the grilled fish which was just a fillet of fish bland, all-white, no spice and so he would give this three stars and I asked him as well. All in all smaller food portions but tasty food could be better in my mind.

I love their food here so much whether I'm eating at the restaurant or getting a to go order it's the best Mexican restaurant in Petaluma that I love !
I love their service as well , when I come to eat there isn't a long wait and you have the option of eating inside or in there outside area .
My favorite food there is their burritos especially their macho burritos and never have to ask for more chips and dip or beverages. They are always so amazing I couldn't ask for better food and service. And I absolutely tell all my friends about this Mexican restaurant

Really rude waitress. They charged me for the wrong order and when I brought it to her attention she said "well what do you want me to do about it". We were coming here pretty regularly but after the experience today, it's not worth it. The food is pretty good if they get your order right (this is the second time now we received the wrong order). Based off of other reviews, this attitude seems to be normal at this location.
