I had a flat 0.4 miles from Mike's on Saturday morning, and they were the closest open business. A kind gentleman ushered me in, gently scolded me for driving on my flat tire, and then fixed me up. Not only did he patch the tire, he also filled up my other tires and put back a hub cap that had fallen off weeks ago. And, finally, after paying a reasonable $25, the woman also working there halted traffic as I pulled out of the shop. I was back on the road within 20 minutes of entering the shop, but now with a smile on my face. What a pleasant experience!

My husband stopped in here recently - since our vehicle was making a strange noise.

They were able to help identify the source of the noise quickly and they were very helpful and friendly.

My husband was impressed with how swiftly they were able to provide a quote and how genuine the service was.

It was evident in our brief encounter with Mike's that they're a reliable and honest auto repair business and they are truly invested in helping customers remedy their car issues and most importantly making sure that each vehicle that they work on - is safe.

If you need a quality local auto repair store in the area - def check out Mike's.

      Trust.

Replied to my project request on Yelp in a timely manner. Good customer service. A little expensive but did a good job with inspecting my car.

My regular mechanic retired, so I was looking and found this shop local to me. Had brakes done, electrical checked, and minor repairs. Am very happy with them. The manager is a young woman who is so accommodating and friendly, it makes the experience much better. While you always have to watch these businesses, this one seems very honest and helpful. Hope to make them my new regular.

They got my car back to me with 3-4 hours (had a tire bolt that was broken that prevented me from changing out my flat tire), good work, and they were nice in allowing me to tow my car to their driveway overnight if I needed (I realized I needed the repair around 5:30pm on a weekday, and I didn't want to tow my car to some other faraway location just to bring it to their shop in the morning).

Really wanted to like them but after getting a second opinion....I'm disappointed that they lied to me about what was really needed which would've costed me hundreds for no good reason.

I got my brakes checked out and they said I needed to get my brake pads and rotors replaced. My car is fairly new so hearing that rotors needed replacement even though I don't drive in snowy conditions, have a heavy foot or anything- was the first red flag.

When I pressed and asked how it might've gotten so bad when my car is still new, they gave this weird answer about not letting car cool down before washing it which warps the rotor....if it was that sensitive to water, then I have really cheap parts and I doubt subarus skimp on that. They're a good brand. I also asked how bad the rotors were but they couldn't explain. They were like "its hard to tell but its probably wavy in some parts"....sooo you're telling me its not visibly obvious how "bad" the rotors are?

They also charged $35 for this checkup. Ridiculous. Only thing preventing me from giving 1 star was fact that they were actually nice but I hate the upselling/dishonesty.

There was a terrible burnt rubber smell that was occurring within the cabin of my car every time I accelerated after being idle and was getting worse and more frequent over time. I finally had time (and some money) to deal with it and brought my car to the shop that I was frequenting for the few recent car troubles I've had, since my own inspection left me clueless. They identified the issue was an engine leak, but the type of leak was something they couldn't fix. *shrugs* I call around and get quotes from other shops, I even call the guy I used to go to when I lived in Daly City. The quotes were either too damn high, or they were backed up due to the coming holiday (Turkey D)

I call these guys, and they say I can bring my car in the next day. The person on the phone was very polite and friendly. I will admit, the diagnostic was pretty high, but they said it would go towards the cost of repair or something and I guess it worked out because the total cost with parts and labor ended up being lower than the quotes I got from other shops. Car was ready to pick up the next day and earlier than the time I was given. The person who spoke with me (I believe the daughter of the owners?) clearly explained the engine was leaking oil onto the muffler pipe and told me I would have to drive a bit more to completely rid of the smell as the residual oils still needed to burn off. The smell completely went away after about a week of driving.

These guys clearly explained the issue, were able to repair my apparently unique engine leak after several shops turned me down, and the price was totally affordable. And for those reasons, they get five stars.

My car's alternator died, leaving it in a metered parking spot in SF, so I had to get it towed to a shop quickly.

I called in, they picked up immediately and said they could fix my issue, gave me an accurate quote on the phone, and said I could tow my car to their shop as soon as I needed. I towed my car to their place.

They further communicated by phone when my brakes and rotors were in need of replacement (I asked them to take a look because I had a feeling something was off).

They also pointed out a valve leak had ruined some belts that needed replacing. I had been aware of this valve leak, so it makes sense that there would be downstream issues.

Overall they were accurate in their quotes and timetables, communicative, and they were fast. They saved my old rotors, pads, and belts to take the time to show me their poor state and why they needed replacement when I came in to pick up the car.

Again, my favorite part was how they were quickly available by phone when my car needed to be towed to a shop ASAP. Felt really nice to have a kind human pick up the phone within a few rings.

Highly recommend Mike's Union Auto Repair. Thanks for getting me out of a bind.

Extremely honest, friendly, and efficient auto repair. I will definitely be coming back here. I think I paid less than what I was quoted too. I'm sure that doesn't always happen but it was a nice surprise for me. I stopped by and showed them what needed to be fixed and it was ready in less than 2 hours. Again, I'm sure that is situational but I was really pleased and able to get back to the smog station before they closed for a recheck.
