      I recently had a minor surgery at Mills and wanted to thank the staff for the fantastic care I received.

      Throughout every part of the day from registration and pre-op through post-op and discharge, the level of care was excellent.

      The staff was kind, patient, professional and generally great. The nurses, Jeff, Gus and Siobhan as well as Drs Ghamgosar and Grubbs have my sincere thanks and kudos. They made a scary and stressful experience much easier. I'm sorry for not noting names of the rest of the staff that was also fantastic.

      As a side note, the infection prevention protocols were well designed and implemented.

      Thanks to everyone on staff. You are all wonderful.

      We recently came here as my son had several procedures that needed to be performed. The surgery center is located in the basement of the building with easy access to the bottom two levels of the parking garage. The check in process is quick and easy and there is a small waiting area with a TV set.

      You're then called in, where you change into your surgery gown and do all of the pre-op checkups and have the conversations with the surgical team. I think there could be more privacy - they don't really have rooms, just areas where they pull drapes over. The staff did make my son feel more comfortable though by giving him a teddy bear, playing peek-a-boo with him, and then wheeling him into the OR in a red wagon.

      While waiting, if you're hungry you'll need to go to the neighboring downtown San Mateo neighborhood to pick something up as they don't have an onsite cafeteria here. Also, they really need to upgrade the quality of the TVs here - all the sets were super grainy and pixelated.

      My son's surgery went well overall and that is the most important thing. I'm glad he was in good hands with the staff and surgical team here.

      On 1/19/23 I went in to have my blood drawn. The line was LONG, and I was given a buzzer. After waiting for 30 minutes and not moving up the queue, I handed my buzzer back to the front desk and told them I would return another day.

      The next morning, my doctor wrote me to say he received my blood test. I told him I hadn't taken it! This is very disturbing to both of us. We both received the results of the test that I DID NOT TAKE.

      I will never go there again.

      Short version pf this review- NO ER at this San Mateo location.

      Husband has some pain at night and all the urgent care centers are closed. Our insurance nurse hotline told us to come to this San Mateo ER location to be seen.

      I saw the name of this place... doesn't sound like a hospital, so I called to ask if their emergency department is open (at 11pm). The person answered said yes.

      Husband got there, it's closed. Called the same number again and they confirmed the emergency department is in BURLINGAME!! Why would they have someone at Burlingame answering the San Mateo phone and NOT mentioned anything!

      They should not be categorized as hospital if they don't have an ER.
      Sigh! I need to find a way to complain to our insurance too so other people do not have to go through the same thing. They are listed as hospital on the insurance website.

      I had two shoulder surgeries about 7 months apart. I decided to do the physical therapy at Mills. Mills PT department is hands down the most efficiently run medical operation I seen in ages. From the check in process, to the treatment, and to the follow up, everything is outstanding. I had about 20 PT visits per shoulder. I never had to wait more than a few minutes for any appointment. The staff is extremely responsive to telephone messages and other follow up. Prior to choosing Mills, I did make inquiries at 3 other other PT clinics referred to me by my surgeon. None of the three bothered to return my calls. Mills, on the other hand, responded immediately. They were booked out several weeks but managed to accommodate me and start the therapy quickly. I just can not imagine going elsewhere in the event of future PT needs.

      An exemplary demonstration of how Mills Health is showing it's importance of wearing a facemark since it's parking staff is literally there to greet every vehicle that leaves the parking lot. Lovely to observe that one staff doesn't bother to wear a face mask but gloves are important. The other staff in the same booth is wear a face mask on her chin. Hmm...

      Worst inpatient service ever. I wouldn't take my dog there. Drs refuse to speak to a parent of a minor. Refused to give medication. I cannot believe that they are allowed to say they treat eating disorders and yet no training, no protocol, no autoimmune medications that have been in place for ten years, exposure to peanuts with known peanut allergy and the red bracelet (yea, super helpful to have that on), and no observation of co gender facility.

      This is the best part. If you need a doctor or an IV, they TRANSPORT via ambulance to Mills Peninsula in Burlingame. Give you a bag of IV solution and then TRANSPORT via ambulance back. What a rip off!! Sure glad my insurance will be paying for that $10,000 IV bill because they did not provide fluid to a minor.

      Sutter should be ashamed. I have lost all respect for Sutter. Mercy medical for the rest of my life because if you choose Sutter, that life could be much shorter.

      I have been a patient of the Mills /Peninsula Health Center on and off for 20 years. I highly rate the staff at the labs and radiology depts. Recent trip to the Radiology dept., was frightening ( my first time!) to have an MRI and CT. I found the staff to be very caring, supporting and they explained everything to me. The women's health center is well run and efficient and I have never had to wait more than 5 or 10 mins. past my appt. time.

      Overall, Mills is a well run, well staffed facility and I highly recommend it.

      I went into the ER in agonizing pain, almost incapable of speaking but was turned away immediately when they learned I was in between health insurance plans. However they insisted I stay so that they could check my vitals. That way they could say they made sure I was in stable condition and release themselves of any responsiblity should something have happened to me once they kicked me out.

      I went into EMERGENCY SURGERY A COUPLE OF HOURS LATER AT ANOTHER HOSPITAL!!

      Never experienced or heard of such a thing. No compassion, code of ethics or integrity at this hospital! Unbelievable!!!
