Mister Transmission

Ken and Bob at Mister Transmission were excellent to deal with. I would describe them both as polite, sincere, and accommodating. I needed my vehicle back in a tight schedule and they were able to achieve that. The communication was excellent, and they answered all of my questions and concerns. So far the vehicle feels great, and if the repair matches their level of service I'm sure I'll be pleased. I had my transmission rebuilt and the price was on par with other estimates

The other week I started experiencing a 'bump' while switching gears, and my first thought was: "Oh please... not my transmission."

I took it in to Mr. Transmission in North Vancouver for an inspection, largely because the better business bureau has them listed with an 'A+' rating.

Their mechanics did a 50 minute inspection, then called me and asked me to swing by the shop because they needed to 'talk'. Hanging up the phone I wondered: "How expensive is this going to be?"

But when I arrived at the shop, I was told that there was nothing wrong with my transmission, and that my engine might just be running a little bit fast.

The mechanic actually took several minutes to explain why everything was looking good, and why I should continue to drive it for several thousand more kilometers before even thinking about a minor servicing. Oh, and no charge for the inspection...

Not the conversation I was expecting...

If you're like me and you're not overly knowledgeable about car maintenance, then you know that it's easy to sometimes get taken advantage of by unscrupulous people in the automotive repair industry and get billed for services that you may not actually need. That's why it's so refreshing when you find a local business like Mr. Transmission. Definitely a 5 star experience.

We discovered Mister Transmission via BCAA/AAA when our car failed south of Squamish on the way to Whistler. We weren't sure whether we had a full-on transmission problem, but we didn't want to risk a tow to a garage that couldn't handle that type of problem, so we went with the BCAA recommendation.
Mister Transmission was great! They negotiated special pricing for a rental van so we could still get ourselves and our bikes up to Whistler, then fixed our car by the end of the next business day, allowing my husband to get back to Seattle for his next day at work. (They had thought they might not be finished until the next morning, but completed it by end of day after learning that we were trying to get back to Seattle that night). If they hadn't, we would have been looking at train or bus fare (and hassles) to get my husband back to Seattle and another day of travel costs in Vancouver for me while I waited for our car. Highly recommended!

I would recommend these guys to anyone!

I had a ongoing problem with the front right transfer case of my Saab 97X SUV and, while the initial fix was done quickly and as estimated, what has really impressed me is how these guys have honoured their work to insure that I am satisfied.

Stay away at all costs

I would not even know where to start with these guys. Seemed nice and all until they took my transmission apart and said its going to be $5000 plus taxes to fix but you owe us $895 for the inspection of it regardless of what you do. That was just the start of it. After scaring me that my land rover was "never going to go again" i agreed to the work only to have the guy call me back 2 weeks later and say they needed $1000 more for the computer which was not included in the price despite the fact that I asked for the quote all in with taxes and he assured me this was everything. I argued and they won't release my vehicle. The manager was no help, the Mr. transmission people didn't even call back. They said "its on the board its our policy. it doesn't include computers". everyone they have what looks like a 4" piece of paper tucked away in the corner where nobody can see it and nothing on the estimate. After admitting to their mistake they charged me an extra $200 and paid they rest.

Don't ever take your car here without another option. These guys make 60% mark-up; its criminal
