Unfortunately I did not see any vegan options and when I asked about the Ube ice cream I was just told that it was made from a purple yam.

The owner of this place has kept prices so low for the enjoyment of the masses and is so kind. I forgot cash one time and he kept reassuring me it is fine, so I left him a favorite hat of mine to come back and exchange.

The coffee flavor was rich, and there's Mitchell's without the long line, Bryers, and 30 other flavors. It's a nice treat after going to Fitness SF and working all day

When I came back next time, he wanted to give my a free scoop because the misplaced my hat and couldn't find it. I'm sure it's somewhere around and will check again next time!

The Yelp reviews DO NOT LIE. Everyone says "oh I love Japanese food, I can't wait to visit Little Tokyo."

I am just okay with most food in Japantown. The main food that would drive me to Japantown is unironically this place, for their absolutely bomb hot dogs and ice cream.

This place has been around forever and you can literally tell, there are newspaper clippings about stuff that took place when I wasn't even alive, which was a long time ago because I am decaying, decrepit being.

First, the ice cream is good, extremely cheap, and well, it's ice cream, you're gonna get what you expect when you order it. They have an insane amount of flavors, so another plus.

Second, the hot dogs are great. $3-4 for a hot dog is basically pricing you don't see anywhere anymore except for like Costco, where the hot dogs are a famous "loss leader" (ie, Costco legit loses money on those, they exist to largely lure people to Costco). All of them are big, come with tons of toppings, are intricately made, and are carefully wrapped. Honestly, these are the kind of hot dogs that are sold for like $11.99 at normie restaurants. Unbeatable at its price point and just good at any price point honestly.

Third, I've heard good things about the sandwiches AND I WILL eat one the next time I am here. I have pledged this. It is destined.

Anyways, the Yelp reviews do not lie, I absolutely totally recommend everyone try out my FAVORITE RESTAURANT IN JAPANTOWN.

Such a cute ice cream spot! Just a heads up that it's cash only! The portion sizes are huge (2 scoops of ice cream) and it's only $4! I got rainbow sherbet and peach and it was so good. The owner was so sweet and helped us with flavor choices as well. I would definitely come back :)

Dropped by for dessert after dinner. We recently moved nearby and walked past it several times without popping in, but it caught our interest with their signs of unique international flavors. The place had very old-school ice cream parlor vibes, filled with candy, ice cream, and various signs. The owner, Tom, was very friendly and offered us any samples we wanted. They had a mix of various ice cream brands, but most of the unique ones were from Mitchell's.

After some sampling, we settled on a lucuma milkshake. It turned out to be a pleasant surprise, with a nice maple caramel flavor that wasn't too overpowering. The milkshake was $6 included whipped cream. I think this was a decent price, but I think regular scoops or sundaes here are probably the best deal you'll find. Before careful though: it's cash only.

Overall, a pretty nice spot, and we'll definitely swing by again when we're in the mood to explore one of their other unique flavors.

There's just something about those places with that old time feel. This certainly fits the bill.

Almost weekly, I stop at the Chinese restaurant chain next door. Their street sign always tempts me to walk in and get something but my schedule is usually tight so it took until now to finally try it. There were two students ahead of me, waiting for their order to be prepared. After studying the freezer display, I ordered a double scoop of Mitchell's New York cherry ice cream (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=RCUP-yp7e_wdjvDOl0BD2g&userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q). The gentleman was very thorough in not only scooping a generous serving, but wrapping the cup with aluminum foil in keeping it cold as I drove to my next stop. Though Mitchell's shop is only ten minutes from my home, I haven't gone for a long time and there's usually a line of people and parking is difficult despite their private parking area in back.

Back to this shop, I thought about the customers before me and I believe they got a sandwich which the gentleman meticulously packed and wrapped. In looking at the wall menu (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=edjz91GewNWCqAYrQkCgvw&userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q) before leaving, I noticed several items that I would like to try. I actually got a pint of the cherry for a friend a week later. Will be back to try one of those hot dogs.

The man behind the counter makes this place what it is. It feels so special and he gives the feel of a grandpa who simply cares about each customer. When you order a sandwich, the owner puts every bit of thought and care into each one, picking out each vegetable that goes into your sandwich and carefully making sure it's to your liking.

Got pastrami and Turkey sandwiches with potato salad and Mac salad. FYI there are limited options for meat and bread choices depending on what is available, but it doesn't mean you aren't getting quality. Everything is very fresh!

Can't wait to come back again when we are in the area! You definitely can't beat the prices of $4 plus tax for a large sandwich w the works and two sides! Plus love being able to support a small business owner with a big heart!

My only issue is that the hours on yelp are incorrect. We've come a couple of times at various times in the day only to find this place closed. According to the owner this place opens around 11am, but even at noon or later the place was not open. The phone number listed doesn't work either to verify if they are open.

Ordered a Coconut Pineapple and Strawberry Cheesecake, and an Avocado and Ube scoops it's ice cream. I really appreciate how Tom packed in the ice cream, and used tin foil to insulate, and the ice cream was good, and the shop had unique flavors. The service was friendly. The shop is very small with not seating so everything is to-go. He doesn't have everything that's on the menu at a given time, so it's best to browse the case for what he has.

Old school, no frills ice cream parlor serving up 100+ flavors of ice cream as well as just about any kind of candy you can imagine.

The owner, Tom, was extremely friendly. We came in right as he was closing up, but he was happy to help us and let us take our time. He even insisted we could try any flavors we wanted! I tasted a couple and ultimately decided on the bryers caramel praline crunch. Along with the bryers I also noticed a lot of Mitchell's ice cream as well.

I ordered the smallest size they had, which ended up being about 3 scoops! For the ice cream and a milkshake it came out to $12, a great deal for how much we got.

Would come back here next time I'm in the neighborhood!

Is this the best ice cream around town, probably not, but the shop, owner, and price make it a great stop for a quick dessert or snack! THIS IS CASH ONLY! So make sure you are carrying some cash before you order. My recommendation based on what I tried is the banana split. It was really good, surprisingly good! The store itself is just a hole in the wall basically with room for 4 customers at time inside, but definitely stop by if you are near the area.
