During high school days, my dad discovered Mon Cafe.. This place is amazing.. The owner is adorable and very sweet! :) I must say that the Eggles there are to die for! I moved away from the Manor a few years ago.. however I woke up one morning two weeks ago and was craving an eggle!! They are that good.. must go and try one! :) YUMMY

I work in the area and found this place on Yelp a while ago. Ever since, I've been coming here and I can say the food is excellent. I've never had anything sub-par, and the coffee drinks are good as well. I especially like their chai tea latte, white chocolate mocha, and their veggie crunch sandwich.
The owner is a very nice lady who seems genuinely interested in her customers and the quality of the food/drinks she prepares.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Amber S.Bay Area5266201030Aug 8, 2012Updated review
Friendly staff, fresh and delish panini & salad for lunch with a cozy quaint atmosphere, what more can you ask for?
The turkey and havarti panini was one of the best I have had. It came equipped with all the produce possible. Tomatoes, lettuce, red onion, cucumber and peppers. It was a party for my taste buds with the warm gooey cheese and hearty wheat bread.
It is a great local "mom and pop" coffee shop. It has a very laid back casual vibe and I never felt rush to leave after I was finished eating lunch.
I'm glad I gave them a try for a meal and looking forward to coming back.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0May 17, 2011Previous reviewCame in after having lunch next door to take a peek.
Located: Strip mall in SL manor, plenty of parking, great location (a little off the beaten path).
Menu: Lots of coffee options of mochas and lattes, Italian sodas, pastries, muffins and made to order sandwiches. I also saw that they serve breakfast as well.
Food: I picked up a bran muffin, oatmeal and walnut cookie and a walnut covered cinnamon roll. I had the bran muffin for breakfast the next day and it was great. Large, sweet and filling. My husband had the walnut cinnamon roll and said it was good. The cookie was packaged and made by a vegan company out of Sacramento, it was very big, soft and sweet.
The cost for all three items was $6.10. Not bad.
Service: Was greeted by a very nice gal that packaged the food and rang it up. The place had two people enjoying their snacks while reading the paper. Place is clean and has plenty of seating.
Next time I go for coffee and/or breakfast or lunch I will have to give this place a try. I like the "mom & pop" feel instead of a chain. - Feb 14, 2011
This may be five stars. If I passes the consistency test when I come back, I will be upgrading.
I stumbled upon Mon Cafe after a long walk while my car was being worked on. I sort of planned it as a destination, because it was the only non-chain coffee shop I could find on Yelp within a couple of miles. I stopped and bought some coffee and relaxed for awhile. The staff and clientele were friendly and the coffee was good. I couldn't help but notice they had some tempting hot breakfast options. So I invited the rest of my family to come and have breakfast with me.
Between us, we had the Eggle (bagel sandwich with egg, bacon and cheddar), sausage gravy and biscuits, oatmeal, breakfast plate (two eggs, potatoes, bacon or sausage and toast) and fruit plate. Everything was very good. As simple as it was, the Eggle was outstanding and everybody wanted some of it. The large fruit plate was very generous with a great variety, including mango, blueberries, watermelon, oranges and bananas. We all enjoyed our meals, and I'm so pleased with myself for my discovery!
I'm especially glad I redeemed myself for a very poor choice the previous night (thanks a lot, restaurant.com).Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Mike N.Brentwood, CA142265153Jan 10, 2010
I'm all for supporting the local neighborhood spots. The coffee is decent. The americano has less shots than starbucks and is kind of pricey, but that's understandable.
I tried a grilled cheese sandwich and boy was it yum! It came out with a ton of fruit.
Been wanting to try their breakfast.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Leon C.Oakland, CA2738184Apr 7, 2011
This is one of the best little coffee shops I've ever been to! It has pretty comfortable chairs and the staff is extremely nice. They have a decent size menu and I havent had anything but the different fraps.
They are really good. It's not all watery and it doesnt all taste the same liek at starbucks. The different flavors have very distinct tastes. My first time at the shop, I just ordered a coffee frap but asked her to make it sweet. I'm not sure what she did but it was soooo good. I haven't been able to find the same drink on their menu yet. I've ordered a few different fraps, all still good, but not as good as the first time I've had it.
They also have free WiFi. The only thing I would complain about is that they aren't open enough hours. They're open from 10-6pm on the weekdays. I wish they were open later and on the weekends only until 2pm. The outside area looks kinda sketchy but I haven't seen or heard of anything happening before. It's just a quiet area.
Overall, I go here as much as I can when I'm in the area. Best coffee shop ever!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Feb 25, 2011
Hecka random location I never would have found this place except we needed to do a business meeting somewhere in San Leandro and this came up in our search for a non-chain place. I'm a massive starbucks hatin' coffee snob and the cappuccino here today was PERFECT. Carrot cake was tasty too, and my friend's grilled cheese n veggie sandwich looked amazing - fresh non wilty veggies and quality fruits on the side (blueberries, sliced bananas etc).
I also absolutely loved the art on the walls, asked staff about it and they said it was done by owner's husband. Very unique little local gem worth checking out.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Mary N.New York, NY422577Jun 6, 2012
I like this place, but I don't think this will be a regular spot for me. The Rocky Road Mocha was very good, but a little too sweet for me. I got a breakfast bagel sandwich, which was pretty filling, but nothing amazing that I couldn't make myself.
My friend got a panini that was pretty good as well. I would definitely suggest this as a place to go for quick and simple bite to eat if you want to avoid the hustle and bustle of other brunch places. It did take some time for everything to come out, but if you have the time to sit and lament over how much alcohol you consumed the night before, than this place will be perfect.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - Jun 8, 2008
this hole coffee shop is near the manor bowl.. once inside. i got a large house blend (1.95) strong and a little bitter but with some h/h and 2 sugars, very tasty. no bitter aftertaste.
pros:
you get a homey feeling with the drawings on the wall.
friendly service
cons:
smoothies made from powders, not fruits.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0Business owner information

This cafe deserves much more attention. Mon Cafe is having its 2nd anniversary soon.
If this place were located in Mountain View or Palo Alto, I bet this place can be nice cozy hang out place.
It's without a doubt a friendly neighborhood cafe and they have built loyal customers already.
Once in a while, I drove all the way up to San Leandro from the South Bay to just grab a cup of coffee and hang out with the folks there.
Even for an infrequent coffee drinker like me, I can definitely taste their exquisite aroma of their roasted coffee which is so distinctively different from big chain stores like you know what.
They offer nice home made sandwiches with love and care and are building up new summer menu for home made soup soon.
(sorry the soup recipe is mine and I gave my secret recipe to Manami, the owner).
Occasionally they will rent the space for artists but you can always enjoy the beautiful paintings from the owner's husband for free.
(I admire his artistic talent!)Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Anna C.Dallas, TX48309181Mar 16, 2011
I love cute cafe and this is a cute cafe.
It's quiet and has great seatings. It's not loud and a great place to go to for an espresso if you needed it.
I am also a snob of coffee chain. It is a great local hang out. I am not yet a big fan on their food. Their house coffee is good but it isn't hot in the late afternoon.
I come here often if I am craving some alone time with my espresso. :)Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
