Mr Lube

DO NOT GO HERE. They are not open about their pricing and overcharge for the simple oil change that they do. I escalated to their head office and no one has gotten back to me. Below is my email and issue that I had with them and no one ever got back to me. Take your car across the street to MIDAS where their oil changes are advertised openly with the price and it is a lot less expensive for the exact same work and oil. I strongly feel they just upsell a higher oil change package to all unsuspecting customers. I have contacted the company 4 times with only one response from the manager saying that is how much the oil change is and no response from corporate. My situation and email to the company:

I am not pleased with my recent oil change at this location. I am not new to cars and I know enough having owned many through my lifetime. My car is a 2011 BMW 328i. I have had a lot of oil changes through private well respected garages or done at the BMW dealership. I have also had numerous oil changes at quick oil change places like Midas or Mr. Lube. Today's visit was concerning because your mechanic made me think the only choice of oil package I had was the Ultra Premium package. He said I needed Synthetic which is true but I should not have been given the most expensive oil change package. I was charged $187.97 for the oil change alone before taxes. I have never paid this much for an oil change outside of BMW OEM service. He made me believe that was the only package you had for synthetic which is not true. I drove out of your location and I saw right on a sign Midas across the street from your location charges $109 for synthetic 6.0L oil change and you do too! I found a price guide for Mr. Lube online that says $104.99 for a Premium Synthetic oil package. Where is this $187.97 coming from??? What is an Ultra Premium Oil Package??? I don't even see this package that you have. Is this reserved secretly for Porsches??? I haven't been to Mr. Lube in a while so I thought maybe prices have gone up but not by this much. I knew that price did not sound right but did not have anything to go by at the time. You don't have prices written anywhere in your garage. I just have to go by his word. This was absolutely wrong in how I was charged and I want a refund of the difference. I don't usually think to view a YELP review for an oil change but I should have. This location has the WORST YELP and Google reviews with other customers with similar experiences of being overcharged. I would like to say that I liked Mr. Lube for the convenience and am willing to pay a little bit more for the fast service but not after this experience. I would normally bring my own car, wifes car and my sister's car to Mr. Lube once in a while. If I am going to pay close to $200 I might as well go back to BMW. I know Mr. Lube is not the cheapest but it certainly shouldn't be the most expensive option. I also looked at the oil brand he put in from the bottles, and it is not even premium oil (It was Redline Synthetic 0W30) Not even Penzoil or Castrol brand. What Premium was I paying for?? This is really disappointing and I feel like never going back to Mr. Lube. I expect and appreciate a response back. Thank you for your time

Stopped into the North Van location on Marine Drive on Thursday. i had a burnt out headlight and had great service to replace them there before. They didn't have my bulb in stock and asked me to return on Friday. when I did, JD quickly replaced it and sent me away with no charge! Didn't expect that.

Scammers. I ask for an oil change and show the guy the $15 off coupon that came in my mail. He keys in my license plate and sees I never go for the upsells. So he tells me it's synthetic oil or nothing for $115, cuz they're out of regular oil. Ya right. An oil change shop out of oil. I drove away. This was the final straw. And first yelp review I've written in my life.

Always an up sell when not needed. Didn't need a transmission flush but they claimed I did. Had no record of it but insisted that. Just feel high pressure! Will not come back.

Have been there twice. May 2022 and June 2023

Odometer readings 38556 and 36626 ?? I suspect that the first odometer was misread.

Requested an oil check and change if required. Total cost for 2 oil changes was $928.37.

The first time they did change the oil and I saw that being done as I was able to see them working at it. When I got home I pulled the dipstick and saw clean synthetic oil.

The second time I didn't see anyone working under the hood. And unfortunately didn't check the dipstick.

And I was also talked into these totally unnecessary things to be done, if they were even done.

Rear differential fluid change.
Front differential fluid change.
Transfer case fluid.
Fuel Service Maintenance.

And I don't know what they actually did.

Today March 18, 2024, I went to Kal Tire to get a puncture repaired. I asked them to check the oil and they did a visual check and was told that it is at the far end of its life span. Which I had already suspected.

Odometer reading : 39950

As I suspected, Mr Lube DID NOT do the second oil change and just charged me for it. And as it turns out, a lot of totally unnecessary other things.

I have absolutely no trust in that Mr. Lube.

Just got my transmission oil change done at the main at 2nd location, the customer service was excellent, service was speedy and the quality of work is great! Thanks guys!

Manager of this shop was very adamant that I use oil that he was pushing which was oil from France that I never heard of. He said its very best oil. I use Mobile 1 on all my vehicles. He would not give up and even claim that his oil is #1 and all others are not suitable. He was pushing so hard, it was annoying. Not going back there anymore.

North vancouver Mr lube is the worse and most dangerous place to change the oile , they damaged my car have been locked up in my car for two and half hours ,no clear answer , not properly changed the oil very rude and unprofessional staf and manager, and finally they did not put back the engine cover propely , it popped out on highway and I was lucky still alive,called customer service no action no call back , you should not be in business Mr lube North Vancouver .

Waited for an exceptionally long time since they didn't call the next vehicle into the shop in order... then the next day after my oil change, my vehicle is leaking oil. Here I am sitting back in line for an hour to get the mistake fixed. I will try somewhere else next time

This is the Mr Lube at 2nd and Main St Vancouver. Their detailed bill stated that they checked tire pressure, but they did not. I had to ask them to do so after getting the bill. What else did they falsely claim to have done?
