I just have to yelp these guys immediately. Having used the company with the easy phone number (you know the one) for years, I got tired of being let down - especially when hiring them for business clients.

I called National (merged with Veterans) to pre-arrange a pick up for a VIP client. Guess what? The driver arrived 5 minutes before the arranged time. He called me to alert me that he was downstairs. He told me: "Don't worry - take your time - I'll wait." He told me exactly where he was. He gave me his cab number. And when we descended, he greeted us with a cheery wave, knew both our names, and pulled the cab forward so that the client could board. Nice new SUV cab, too.

I'm taking that easy phone number out of my phone, and replacing it with National's.

Driver - Michael Cab #2973 - DON'T RIDE WITH HIM!

This afternoon, I had a pick-up scheduled at 2100 Webster Avenue, San Francisco going to my home at 1777 Pine Street around 2:15 today (5/8/23). The scheduled driver was Michael, cab number 2973.

As he pulled up to the medical center building on Webster, I waited at the cross ramp for him to drive up. He stopped at the stop sign and kept waving me over to come to him, about 10 feet away. As I have leg/balance issues, I waived for him to come over to me to assist with my getting into his cab, he refused to move forward. As I waited, other cars started honking at him to move. He started to pull up, but then made a left turn towards Filmore Street, away from us. He then yelled out the window that he needed to get gas. This made no sense to me, as we were on the side of the street, facing the way we needed to leave to go to our destination.

As soon as he pulled, I recognized the driver as someone who I filed a complaint with Flywheel about his lack of professionalism and horrendous behavior towards myself and my fiancé. Very similar issues as today.

This S.F. cab company was up at Red Hawk Casino which is none of my business and I could care less but my 1 star is because my husband is disabled. He is an above the knee amputee and whoever the driver of this was thought that is was ok to park in the handicap spot. I looked for a disabled parking place card but didn't see one. Really? You just drove from S.F. and we're too lazy to walk from a non handicap spot so some who is actually handicap could park? Really bad business!

Even though I take taxis A LOT, I've never reviewed a cab company until now. I always figured, why bother? Aren't they all kind of crummy in their own special way?

I was wrong. There is one cab company that stands out from the herd: National Cab, AKA Veterans Cab.

I found out a few weeks ago when I was trying to get home with heavy grocery bags and was having NO LUCK flagging. I had a bunch of cab numbers saved in my phone so I started dialing.

Recording, then hold time on number 1.

Recording, then hold time on number 2.

Ringing, ringing, ringing on number 3.

I'd had similar experiences countless times before and had always given up by that point and continued trying to flag, but this time I went on to number 4, which was National/Veterans. A jovial guy answered right away, and a taxi was pulling up about 5 minutes later.

A few days later I needed another taxi STAT and was in an area notoriously dead for flagging. I dialed number 4, same funny guy answered and CALLED ME BY NAME. When I commented that I wasn't used to this type of service, he said that National/Veterans prides itself on actually "answering the phone." Imagine that, Yellow Cab and Luxor???

Shortly thereafter, my taxi pulled up.

This past weekend I needed a taxi again and getting one on a Sunday morning in my neighborhood is kind of a pain so I dialed number 4. A different guy answered, just as friendly, called me by name, made a corny pun (don't ask), and minutes later there's my taxi.

Looks like it's time to move number 4 to the number 1 spot. Don't you b!tches start dialing all at once...I'm enjoying the illusion of having my very own driver(s) at my beck and call.

Seems like an overshoot that this company has 3 stars. I haven't used this company, but I was almost run off the road by one of their drivers (car #: K1100, license #: Z4837L2) this evening in San Francisco. Thank goodness for quick reflexes!

      The WORST service experience EVER!
Because these DRIVERS a lot US prefer to use LIFT!

      Cab # 856

Today I was late for a meeting so I decided that the faster way to be in the office will be using a cab (6 blocks ride - short ride I know, but I always leave $5 to $15 tips) this guy was complaining about my ride, too short, I suppose to walk and insult me all the way to my office and then he was telling me how much tip I supposed to leave him! and then he didn't want to give my receive!!!

If I use a cab I ALWAYS leave tips (minimum $5 - Max $15, especially if the driver is nice, I know how expensive is SF) but why I have to tip if you were insulting me all the way to my office?

A news flash for folks getting in the SF cab scene: Not all cabs are the same. Sure, they all have to abide by the same laws, but every car belongs to one of several major cab companies. National Cab Company is not among the upper echelon and here's why:

      * They were the slowest of the cab companies to adapt to the credit card machine. Even now, lots of drivers will give you eye rolls the moment you whip out the plastic.

      * Like any car service, pick ups can be arranged. I once waited 30 minutes for a cab in the rain before I decide to try my hand walking home. Eventually I got a call from an angry cab driver asking for my whereabouts. Admittedly, I haven't called them since.

      * With the growing fleet of hailo, GetTaxi, Uber, and many other private but convenient car services, it's much easier to avoid having to succomb to NCC. Almost too easy as a matter of fact.

If I have to roll with NCC, it's because I hailed it. Hopefully down the road, I won't have to.

All I was doing was standing on the side of the road with my headphones in. A National cab driver pulls up, rolls down his window, and calls something out at me. I removed my headphones and said, "Sorry?" He yelled (for what I assume was the second time), "Hey, wouldn't you like a ride in my nice warm cab!?!?" His voice was rough and barely coherent.

Slightly taken aback, I replied "No thank you."

He snorted and said loudly "You know what we call you? An Uber monkey."

That was rude enough, so I just waved my hand and said "Bye!"

He then proceeded to scream to the entire street. "SHE'S AN UBER MONKEY! THIS B***H IS AN UBER MONKEY! DON'T YOU KNOW!!!" Thankfully, when I walked a few steps away down the block, he then drove off.

I am shocked and frightened by this experience. To be honest, he even sounded slurred enough that he might have been drunk. I think I've seen enough of this cab company, and I didn't even ask to be involved with it.
