I highly recommend the Neptune Palace Hotel. The owner and his son are very friendly and helpful. When I needed something repaired in my room, they came over the same day I called them and did the necessary repairs. They take very good care of the building, and it is freshly painted and has clean modern carpets. They are going to put in a new medicine cabinet with a mirror in my room.

The Neptune Palace Hotel is a beautiful historic building that has three newly renovated bathrooms with a glass walk-in shower and toilets that are very modern. There are good restaurants, bars, shops, cafes, and gourmet grocery stores right out the front door. The beach and bay are less a mile away! There are beautiful shops and a restaurant in the building. It's in a vibrant, beautiful neighborhood. They also have Wi-Fi in the building, which is really nice.

The vibe here is friendly, relaxed, and fun! It's epic here.

      Updated review

The Neptune Palace Hotel is always top of my list any time I need a safe place to stay in the area. Great location, cozy rooms, secure building, warm community, and run by a very kind and hard working father and son team. I can't recommend them enough for your short or long term housing needs. Thank you both for all the work you do to provide this refuge for the Alameda community!

They will give you prices and make you pay everything in CASH just to change the price last minute to try and scam you. I'm very displeased with how this hotel is run. They put on a nice guy act. YOUVE BEEN WARNED

I can hardly recommend this place enough. It's run by a really kind father and son duo. They take pride in caring for the premises and tenants, offer free Wi-Fi, and have no tolerance whatsoever for the kinds of shenanigans normally associated with SRO's. I hate to even call it an SRO.

The street and surrounding area have a lot to offer: cafes, shipping, freeway access, haircuts, parks, groceries, public transit.

      I've been very comfortable here.

This was perfect for what I needed.

I was there for a little over a year while finishing school- it was nice for the time being.

I felt safe because of all the cameras. The place has a full-time person to come in and clean the bathrooms, take out the trash, and such.
The owner is around often to make sure things are running smoothly.
Never really ran into issues with using the showers or bathrooms.

All the neighbors kept to themselves; I have never had my mail or packages stolen.

The Farmers Market is around the building on Tuesdays and Saturdays. Walking distance to the grocery store, Walgreens, Starbucks, fast foods, and decent restaurants on Webster St.
Bus stops and casual carpools are within 2 minutes of walking.

No Kitchen, but with all the food options nearby- I didn't really need one. I had a Mini-fridge, and microwave - Worked out fine for me.

      First to Review

Neptune Palace Hotel is located in the heart of Alameda on Webster St. The building is 140+ years standing and as such is a historic landmark that is currently being preserved by the current owner.

The 1800s architecture and layout of the building allow you to experience how life was for those whose footsteps passed across the boardwalks (now paved sidewalks) during days gone by.

The downstairs corner store and ice-cream parlor is a reminder of the ole' time corner grocery store that many locals used during the previous century. Hair salons and restaurants have replaced the original saloons that use to line the boardwalk below Neptune Palace Hotel. Nowadays, you can cross the street to Wally's Place, hang out while being served a low cost satisfying cocktail - if you so choose to indulge.

      Neptune - A Minimalist Community
The neighbors at Neptune are what makes this community work. I have lived here for 2 years and I've met most all of the neighbors. We all are minimalist seeking shelter from this crazy overpriced housing market and we're able to adapt to a lifestyle reminiscent of dayz gone by.

There is no kitchen area onsite. However, you are allowed a small fridge and a microwave. There are lots of great restaurants along Webster St.

Each room is private so you do not have to be concerned about someone keying into your unit. Rm has a sink and a medicine cabinet. My rm has a huge window which I installed a shade behind the blind. The shade helps keep the rm cool during summer. Winter, I lift the shade & get a great view of the neighborhood as the sun warms my rm.

Each room has its own electrical outlet and if you exceed the voltage the power switch is tripped - just like in the ole' timey dayz. And there are fire alarms and extinguishers throughout the building. In addition, there is a sprinkler system running along the ceiling. Security cameras installed.
