Northern California Whole House Fans

I had my AC company tell me that the belt on my old whole house fan was badly worn. I've had this fan the mid-90's and it gets a LOT of use! Although the fan worked, I thought I would check out the latest technology and efficiency and maybe get a new, quieter fan.

I called Jim because he had the best customer feedback here. He would have gladly sold me a new high-end Quiet Cool duct fan, but he convinced me that simply changing the belt on my old unit was the smartest play. He said that many times the older appliances/fans have incredible quality and life.

I had his company come and change out the belt. No problem at all! My wife said "Mike" was very nice and helpful.

Very happy with my new whole house fan. They replaced a very old attic fan with a new Quiet Cool Stealth Pro and repaired the gap in the ceiling. I hired another comfy to repair drywall and it looks new! Highly recommend. Professional and price is reasonable.

I called Jim for quote to have WH fan installed, with the size of my home Jim recommended Quiet Cool "Stealth Pro (QC STL PRO-7.0X) which is the largest fan available. Appointment was set up and Jim's son showed up on time and prepped everything to install. Before the installation started we determined the best place for the install. After the installation we went over the operation of the remote and how we can best optimize the venting from different floors of the home. The installers cleaned up and completed the install in under 2 hours. If your looking to reduce your electrical use by 60% and get more fresh cool air into your home, consider a whole house fan.

We purchased our fan from Jim at the Home and Garden Show this last Spring and couldn't be happier with our purchase. The price was very competitive and the two men that came to install it were on time and had it up and running order. This new fan was installed to replace our old fan and it is so much quieter and moves so much more air. We have used it all summer and it has been very effective at cooling off the house in the evenings. We live in Greenhaven so we get the Delta Breeze so we are able to open up the house to reduce the air conditioning expense. Great product and great service. We couldn't be happier!

Jim is the pro you didn't know that still existed. Today, everyone charges just to come out to your house, not even look at the issues or see what your concern is just to come out they charge you. It seems to be standard practice for many companies, but not Jim. He stands by his work and is confident in his trade. He installed my whole house fan 6 years ago with his son, they did a great job. It has saved us so many warm days as we live in a 2-story home. It works best when it's cooler outside, but even when it's just plain hot, at night, cooling the attic helps maintain our house temp longer during the next day. We can run it in early am or late evening to really bring in cool air and trap it to save on our HVAC demand. Our fan has worked great, and although it does not require maintenance of any kind, I wanted to make sure it was still running strong and get a diagnostic check up. His office manager called me back, was very professional, and even texted me as I was unable to take a call at the time. He came out and looked it over, making some tweaks. It's still running great, and his warranty gives me peace of mind knowing it's not needing lubrication or any other sort of maintenance. He made time for me even six years later, that's a pro you can rely on.

Got a recommendation from my daughter about their house fan, so I decided to use them for a Quiet Cool system. They responded quickly and gave me a reasonable quote so within the week they installed the unit. It only took 2 hours for the installation. They made sure they cleaned up afterwards.
Now I can cool my house down at night.

We are trying to make our 1940s home more energy efficient. One step in that process was to put in a whole house fan. During the quote process, Jim was happy to answer all of my questions, but gave me a quote based off google maps and pictures - which was fine. It is a lot of effort to drive out and give a quote if the client decides to go another direction. I totally didn't mind.

Jim's son came out and installed the fan, but found an issue. We have a metal roof (that looks like asphalt in pictures), so they weren't going to be able to install the dormer vents in our roof as planned. They recommended we contact a metal roofer. I appreciated their honesty and putting our needs to have it done correctly ahead of profits.

In the process of talking to the metal roofer we decided not to put more holes in our roof (long story) and I didn't love the idea of putting a giant gable vent on the front of our house. We were kind of stuck on what to do. I reached out to Jim again and he sent his son back out to take a closer look at the vent situation. They created a CUSTOM venting solution that didn't change the look of our house!

As an Elite, I try to save my 5 star review for businesses who really deserve it and those that just blow my expectations out of the ball park.

I started off by getting a quote from a different place then after going down the rabbit hole and finding out that there are various models of Whole House Fans I ended up calling Jim. I kid you not I called him like 4 times as i uncovered something new about the process or the type of fan.

Turns out that Jim not only came in a bit lower than other company (partially cus of the current rebate) but also sold me a bigger, more powerful more energy efficient unit. From the first time we talked he said I'm giving you the best and after some verification he was right.

The installers came out to do the work. I was a bit nervous about it up until they started. These guys are PROFESSIONALS, they kept me informed as they moved along the installation phase, they plastic covered my clothes in the closet where attic access is. They put a sheet down over the area in the hallway where they installed. They vacuumed when they were done. I was really impressed. They took time to show me how the switch works and how its a remote incase I want it somewhere else.

In summary, the location where Jim's son recommended we install the vent in the hallway is the best location in the home. I have had it for 2 weeks now. I have even used it on these warmer nights. It really makes a difference.

Northern Cali installed my whole house fan two years ago. Heard noise in the attic and thought it was the fan. Called and Jim was able to help me identify that the problem was something else. Very nice of him to have spent the time to answer my questions. Good customer service and the fan works great.

This family owned business gave me a price and honored it! I am grateful for the honesty, integrity and excellent workmanship that was displayed at my modest home!
