We are first time home owners and needed major electrical work to be done - rewiring and cleaning up most of our electricity from an ancient build, like most Bay Area homes.

He is the most knowledgable electrician, and above that, fun to have around! We also loved his apprentice James, who felt like a friend by the end of the week. We were installing a new smart doorbell and I was attempting to DIY it. We live in an older house in Palo Alto and getting a wire through the doorbell slot to the inner garage plug seemed impossible.

I contacted Tom, who lives within walking distance actually, and he came over the same day and had a solution in literally less than a minute. His solution was so good and easy that he refused to accept any payment for it. That was that, and we had no electrical issues for a couple years since.

Fast forward to today, after a recent storm, one of our track lights no longer worked. In fact, it was making this alarming sizzling sound. My wife called up a bunch of electricians. Most of the time, a receptionist would field the call (with no solutions, just scheduling), someone separate would come over, they'd take a while to find a solution and not have any parts, send a quote, and be on their way. We'd need at least three interactions across over a week to get the problem solved.

I was fed up with living like this and pleaded with my wife to just call Tom and screw all the quotes. Within 24 hours it was fixed. Zero stress.

In a world full of so much gray area, it is a joy to work with someone so easy, experienced, fast, and trustworthy. I hope Tom doesn't read this but we're not gonna bother calling anyone else in the future.

I've gotten service two times, once for replacing some dimmer switchers with standard switches, and once to inspect and solves a circuit breaker not resetting. In both cases, service was friendly, knowledgeable, and efficient. Anytime I need electrical work done, I'll be calling OConnor and sons Electric.

I was amazingly impressed from my experience with Tom. One of the most responsive people (and companies) I've worked with. Knew exactly what to do (we were extending 240V in my backyard). Got it done promptly. And when I had one request after he completed the job, he came back and made it perfect. Couldn't recommend Tom enough

We had unstable electricity in our house with flickering lights and surging electricity. Tom came after hours and within minutes diagnosed the problem, explained the situation clearly in layman's terms, and spoke with PG&E on our phone to get our power shut off immediately. We were saved from a very dangerous situation.

Being renters we are naive to most aspects of home building and maintenance. Initially I contacted O'Connor Electric for an outlet that stopped working and with owner Tom's expertise, discovered there was a much more urgent matter to attend to. He worked diligently to secure emergency permits from the city and began work 24 hours later. They finished the job ahead of schedule and now I feel much more safe in this home.
