Jason came out to our house for an assessment of an electrical repair project. He was on time, knowledgeable, and gave us a competitive quote.

Additionally, Jason pointed out work a previous electrician had done that didn't meet PG&E inspection standards. He knows this stuff inside and out! He impressively quoted the exact PG&E greenbook standard for service, buried on Page 144. He went above and beyond to mention this, and I appreciate it.

If you're looking for a knowledgeable and honest electrician, Jason is the real deal.

$550 for installing light bulb in the garage
I called Oak Electric to help with a light that doesn't work in the garage and flickering lights in the bedrooms. Jason was very helpful to setup an appointment the following week. The issue is that he didn't tell me his hourly rate is $250. Unfortunately I wasn't home when he arrived and my wife and other family members watched them work. They took down the recessed lights but the flickering didn't stop, they still charged me for the labor (which is fine IF we had agreed on a price!)

In the end, he charged me $550 for installing the lights in the garage. When I texted him to ask about this, he gave me a 40 mins call explaining why this is my problem. I think any mechanic or technician would charge a diagnostic fee and call the owner before proceeding with an expensive repair (I would have told him no), but according to Jason, that's my problem.

So this is my experience, just sharing so that other people are aware of the hourly rate, they require you the customer to ask for the rate first. Then won't tell you.

Jason did a great job installing our electric vehicle charger. He was very thorough and conscientious, arrived on time for his appointments, and brought a courteous and capable crew. His price for installing the charger was competitive. I have used him for other projects as well. His service charge and hourly rate are $250.

Jason came to my home in Menlo Park on Wednesday to check out a problem with my outside electric panel. He discussed with me the possibilities for upgrading my panel, and we picked an approach that we could both agree on. He came back the next day, as promised, with everything he needed to complete the upgrade then and there. He and his assistant finished the job in a little over 3 hours, hardly more than 24 hours since he had first set foot on my property! I was really impressed with Jason's quick service, and his professionalism. He went the extra mile to take care of some details, like making new highly-visible labels for my circuit breakers, and adding some sealant to the high-amperage connectors to ensure they won't be as susceptible to moisture damage in the future. He is definitely the guy I will call first for future electrical work.

Jason and Issac were great. We needed a panel upgrade and some minor repairs. From initial contact and a same day estimate to the work being done was amazing. Professional, respectful and responsive. I hired Jason to install a line of recessed lights along a hallway. It didn't turn out well. The lights were crooked and the final bill was more than I expecting. We can debate whether the bill was fair, but there is no debate about the lights. A laser alignment tool showed that some of the lights were up to an inch out of line with the others. In the end, I had to pay another electrician to redo the light placement and a drywall contractor to repair the unnecessary holes in the ceiling. This was a rudimentary mistake that you would not expect from a professional.
