I live very close to this place and have for four years. I've always been curious and am sad I didn't check it out sooner. I met the owners who are very nice people.

I rented the two bedroom family suite with a fully stocked kitchen for my family visit. I'm completely shocked this place exists for a reasonable price in SF. It's pretty much a spacious apartment that's very San Franciscan, clean, and in a safe location. Glad I found it. I think I found a place for my family to stay when they come visit from now on.

I almost gave four stars because I thought the beds (particularly the lack of any headboard) were uncomfortable... but then I remembered anyone who isn't a dummy would have asked for extra pillows. I did not do that. My fault! That's the only flaw I saw with this place.

The style of the motel, very old-fashioned and retro, is what gives it its flair. The photos already on Yelp are accurate so I felt no need to document my room, but believe you me, I thought it was super cute! I love that they have kitchens available - and yes, they're fully functioning and stocked with kitchenware.

The bathrooms would be cramped for some, I think, but it worked out perfectly for us. And, again, stocked with toiletries. We even got a good amount of towels (I find a lot of hotels/motels are stingy).

The motel is close to the beach - loved that, I personally chose to ran into the cold Pacific in February - and a few different restaurants. Check out the Java Beach Cafe nearby! We got a few veg breakfast burritos there. I also recommend taking the short trek to the Mission area, totally charming.

The hot tub requires a key but is well kept and even has a little shower to rinse off with.

There is ample parking for guests and the front desk was friendly and attentive in our experience. I have to emphasize the fact that this motel would appeal most to those concerned with aesthetics as it's not in the most "happening" area and it's a TINY bit cramped by American standards. Would still recommend!

Best vintage like motel in the San Francisco area. Clean, quiet, nice grounds, incredibly friendly & helpful folks, close to ocean & SF Zoo, restaurants close by. I've stayed there many times. Reasonable rates and many little private cottage like units to choose from. Feels like HOME away from Home

They keep this place so cold, no wonder nobody wants to stay here, I would consider some place else, I would want to stay somewhat comfortable, not with the air conditioning blessing

Charming little place! I've lived on 47th Avenue for ~30 years and have noticed the place when driving by. I never thought I would need to stay there but did when our house got fumigated. I'm so glad I finally had reason to stay at this motel from the late 1930s.
Though this time machine transports you to a bygone era, it is immaculately clean. The wifi is fast and was one of the few things that reminded me that the year is 2022.

We were comfortable and so was our dog. The staff was very friendly. There are a few places within walking distance to get food like Java Beach and George's Zoo.

The Ocean Park staff is unfailingly kind and supportive whenever we stayed there. My husband goes to the VA Center for medical procedures and we live about 6 hour drive away. They make our stay a true pleasure and put us at ease at a time when we're generally somewhat stressed.

Absolutely ADORED staying at San Francisco's first ever motel. I love the retro charm, clean rooms, on site parking, and friendly staff.

We had one of the larger rooms, with three beds, even though it was just my husband and myself, but it gave us plenty of room to spread out for our stay, which I enjoyed.

As it is basically in a residential area, I found it to be rather quiet, which I enjoyed. I would 100% stay here again.

I love this place. The location was perfect as I had an event at the zoo. Compared to a Union Square noisy hotel Ocean Park is peaceful. In the morning we could hear the ocean (it's only two blocks away). The hotel was built in 1937 and pretty authentic to that time. So it's smaller rooms and colorful tiles and cute gardens.
The bed was comfortable, linens were clean, and all was tidy. It's not a big fancy hotel but it's quaint and clean and relatively quiet. There's a pretty good cafe a block away (Java Beach). Oh, no charge for parking or Wi-Fi.

Lovely quaint place to stay. Staff was very helpful. Good restaurant recommendations. Close enough to walk to see sunset on beach.
