I ended up getting those earrings this weekend.
They're absolutely stunning.
I love them.
The way they dazzle. The way they hang.
Sadly though- what prompted my return visit here - is that Offbeat was having a big sale - because they are unfortunately going out of business.
Offbeat will be open up to the holidays and continuing to offer big discounts - so I highly suggest you supporting this unique store - as soon as possible.
Check out their truly exceptional and beautiful jewelry and items - before they are no longer gracing Haight Street with their presence.

I must have spent a good half hour - just admiring them in their glistening glass case. So stunning. Beautifully crafted. Poignant. One of a kind.
I'm still thinking about them...
Their vivid color. The way they hang so seductively just half-way down my neck.
If you're looking for earrings that will keep you up at night. Earrings that will turn heads - come to Offbeat. Just be prepared to pay for quality, hand-made, local art.
Since I wasn't quite prepared to pay the substantial price-tag for the earrings - I ended up purchasing a soft teal scarf and beanie. Both were affordable, well-made, and taken out that night.
But...
I'm still dreaming bout those earrings though...
Trust.Dec 29, 2007Previous reviewI was supposed to be buying belated gifts for family yesterday, but Haight Street, always has a way of taking over my Christmas list - crossing off my "shirt for brother," "DVD for sister," items and replacing it with....
Shirt for Jessica, DVD for Jessica...etc..etc...
On my Jessica shopping excursion I came across Offbeat.
A gorgeous purple flower lamp in the window caught my attention.
On first impression I was surprised at how big the store is and the vast variety of things inside. Not only is their selection original and fun, but on closer examination I found that many of the items were made by San Francisco designers and their jewelry selection was particularly exquisite.
Exquisite and...expensive.
Many of the items in Offbeat are quite pricey, but you're paying for unique, handcrafted, items made from quality materials.
My favorite item in the store was a sleek stained glass cat lamp; made from heavy bronze, and truly lovely. At around four hundred dollars though, it was best appreciated from afar.I was reluctant to ask the price of the bronze cat initally, but the exceptionally outgoing and personable staff at Offbeat were wonderful and made me feel more than comfortable as I browsed around the store.
So, if you don't have a tight budget and are looking for a unique piece of jewelry or a housewarming gift for a VERY close friend, or special someone - Offbeat is a great place to start. - Tricia M.Saint Charles, MO4991Nov 22, 2006First to Review
This is the cutest little shop. We walked by and they have this tree in the window with butterflies that move and then I saw the jewelry. I bought a TON of stuff.
The woman that helped me was so sweet and from what I understand a lot of the jewelry there is made by designers in San Francisco! I love giving back when it's for fashion, I mean a good cause. Also, they have the best wallets, I got a red leather wallet that I am in love with and so is everyone in my office.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - amanda a.Sausalito, CA017May 18, 2009
I went into Offbeat to get my ring size and ended up liking Patricia and her work so much I had a favorite old ring resized too (the gold sanded, the ring made larger, etc). The craftsmanship was great, prices very reasonable too. Highly recommend Patricia! She makes custom jewelry and everything about her service is terrific.

I've walked by this place so many times, thinking, "this store looks like it should be someplace else". Finally went in and found my new favorite ring! Sales people are so nice and the jewelry is beautiful.

a little out of its element in the upper haight, but all the shiney shit in the window really draws you in.
super fancy thingamobobs and gagets. jewelery, hats, ritzy deco sculptures and furniture. all this mixed in with the upper haight staples like weird socks and scarves, and feather dangly earings.
this store is big!
i bought:
a shiney over the shoulder bag,
a hobo wallet (robins egg blue).
tribal but not overly tribal wooden and some sort of bone earings.
off beat definately is out of my price range, but if you are in a gift giving or retail therapy mood, then, go for it. i wish i could furnish my house with all the showy dressers, cases and sculptures. think liberace and ani defrancos love childs home.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Amber I.San Francisco, CA1215May 9, 2009
I absolutely love this jewelry shop. It's right around the corner from my house so that's kind of trouble because I end up shopping in there more often than I should. The staff are very friendly and knowledgeable about their merchandise. I don't really like it that now they recognize me, but that's my own fault for buying stuff there all the time. They also have some super cute bags and wallets.

Patricia is great! She helped up to resized my best ring that for somewhat got shrink - or I got fat during 12 years of working in the food industry. I like the idea that she makes custom jewelry for a living so that to resized a ring can be just a piece of cake for her. Unlike most artist she is focusing on customer service and friendly will all the customers that show up at the store. Parking is in issue, but you can pay for meters.

This unique shop stands out on the other wise repetitive shops on haight street. They carry everything from independent designers to the staple hobo wallets. Great shop to buy a gift for " the girl who has everything".
