Stopped by this evening for dinner and our family enjoyed such a lovely dining experience.

We were greeted and seated very quickly. The restaurant has such a clean, warm, and welcoming atmosphere.

      We ordered:

      The following starters:
      The Chicken Karaage
      The Agedashi Tofu
      The O Toro Nigri

      Then for our mains:
      The Soymilk Nami Nabe
      The Flying Dragon Roll
      The Snow Mountain Roll
      The Cyclone Roll

Everything was well prepared, but our favorites were the O Toro and Snow Mountain.

The O Toro was delicious, but I wish it was slightly more seared.

The Snow Mountain's walu was melt in your mouth and such a treat for the palate. The buttery richness left you wanting more.

The Agedashi was good and had a wonderful dash broth and the addition of white button mushrooms. I would have preferred the traditional soft tofu over their offering of the egg tofu.

All in all it was a lovely experience and we will be back.

My favorite Japanese restaurant in SF!!!

Vibe, staff, and food are all PERFECT!

The mixed tempura, yuzu oyster, chicken karaage, rolls, the dessert... etc. I just can't find one item that is not good.

Only con is hard to find parking but this is nothing compare to the great experience here!!

      I can't stop coming back.

Something about their fish is just SO good. Usually I think anything carpaccio is not worth the price but do give this one a try. I can have endless plates of those.

We ordered the Scallop King Roll, Salmon Lover Roll, Snow Mountain Roll, and the Angry Fish Roll. Added "The Toast" and an Agedashi Tofu. A week later I came back for the rolls again, this time with the (must try) carpaccio and a few nigiris.

I'm a huge fan of walu so I try it at every place that has it. It was so good that my entire party decided that they need another order to top it all off. Do go with the Snow Mountain Roll. You won't regret it.

I visited Okaeri to celebrate my partner and I's anniversary, and it was an exceptional experience. The food was outstanding, and the service was top-notch. Upon arrival, we were warmly greeted with an anniversary card signed by the entire staff, and they treated us to complimentary plum wine. The fish was of the highest quality, and every dish was delightful. The beautifully decorated interior evoked fond memories of my time in Japan. I highly recommend Okaeri!

I had an amazing experience at Okaeri. Service was great, and the food was stand-out.

I got the okaeri donburi, and it was surprisingly filling. Loved the plum in the rice, and everything was so well balanced in flavor and texture. I wish I had the space to order the uni toast, but I think I'll just have to do it next time.

Ambiance is casual, but cute and clean. A lot of wood tones and a good amount of tables although it's a bit of a smaller space. There weren't many tables left for a Wednesday night so I recommend making a reservation. It'd be great for a date night or an intimate hang-out.

      Will definitely go again!

Went in for dinner on a Friday night. Low key environment perfect for first dates or just catching up with a friend.

Service was fast and friendly: within in seconds of arriving we were offered menus and sat right away (with a reservation).

Food was a hit. Typical Japanese cuisine without going too heavy in US influence. Try the unagi donbori. I loved it!

One of my girlfriends treated me to Okaeri Japanese Bistro for my birthday last month and we both loved it! We ordered a bunch of things to share. My favorites were the epic TOAST of course (milk bread, toro, uni, caviar, and uni cream!!), okaeri don (so much fresh sashimi on top of perfectly seasoned rice), and the snow mountain roll (we ordered two rolls but this was my favorite!).

We sat at the bar and it was fun watching the chefs do their thing! Service was really attentive and friendly. It's a bit expensive but sushi is always expensive in SF, lol!

Having visited Japan earlier this year, I've been missing the authentic taste of Japanese nigiri, and Okaeri's nigiri is one of the few that can compare. The taste, texture--everything felt so masterfully crafted. The fish quality is exceptional.

I also have only praise for their toast and oysters. The toast is one of their signature dishes you can't find anywhere else. The thick, perfectly crunchy bread with artistically crafted toppings made for a unique and delicious dish with many textures and wonderful flavors. I could eat 100 of their yuzu oysters, the first sweet oysters I've ever had with such a light and refreshing taste palette!

Their sushi rolls are 100% unique. I've never seen or tasted anything like them. I loved the way they stacked the toppings on the flat side of the sushi roll, making them so much easier to eat! The design was elegant and creative, and I loved that they were fried with cute hearts on top.

My boyfriend treated me for my birthday, and the staff even signed a birthday card for me! The interior design and atmosphere of the place are lovely, and the staff is great. The only disappointment was the edamame, but everything else was knocked out of the park. I'm definitely recommending this place for all my friends!

For my friends farewell dinner from SF and my birthday celebration, we went to check out Okaeri. The restaurant is cozy with bar seating all the way across and some tables. Pretty easy to get a reservation online, and omakase isn't the only option.

Since it was a celebration and farewell, we got the omakase together which started out with a 4 part appetizer. This was a cute and unique addition to the omakase and I loved the unagi tamagoyaki. All 10 pieces of fish were fresh and delicious. It was actually my friends first time going to a nice sushi place (outside of getting it for to go at delis and back at our fancier dining hall at college that allows use of dining dollars), and I was scared she just genuinely didn't like sushi and the texture, but even she enjoyed it.
The course ended with a chawanmushi with scallop, the first time I've had that combination. Didn't know how the raw and cooked steamed egg would mix but it was actually so good.
I was also gifted a hojicha ice cream and it was probably the best I've ever had and I'm pretty loyal to matcha.

It's a bit pricey as sushi always is, but still cheaper than most SF omakase places. Would definitely come back!

I constantly forget why I bookmark places on Yelp, but I was able to cross this one off my list.

Didn't realize where this gem was! Right off Mission St. where parking is the usual craziness. Inside is not the biggest space so I'd recommend making those reservations just in case.

We ordered a couple rolls and the hamachi which were all solid. I would come back to do tasting menu!
