Came here due to the influx of influencers showcasing it on instagram. Was very excited to try it.
The space is beautiful. Had so much potential.
The lattes are delicious. One of the best hojicha lattes I've ever had. The truffle fries are amazeballs. They shave real truffle on it. This was the highlight of the meal.
The blue crab and prawn omelette was really unappetizing. Was expecting lumps of blue crab meat but it was just shreds almost like they bought them in packages. It didn't taste fresh. It was extremely watery. You cut into the omelette and it leaked liquid out. Very disappointing.
The Lyon skillet was delicious. I'd order this again if I ever went again.
The Florentine omelette was very wet. The potatoes were delicious though.
The service was sparse. Barely anyone checking in, refilling water. Didn't take away dishes or empty cups. Didn't ask if we wanted other beverages.
Someone at another table had their jacket fall on the ground and they had been checked in on multiple times and the server never bothered to inform the person or pick it up. I went over to tell him and he thanked me thinking I was staff.
The thing that frustrated me the most is the sandwich board outside that said complimentary bottomless coffee when you order food. I asked for coffee and it was good. The bill came and I saw coffee on the tab. Was very confused and checked the sign. It's ONLY valid Mondays and Thursdays. Why would you have that sign up (in a light faint small font) on days that aren't Mondays or Thursdays? People like me would just read the large "coffees on us!" and order coffee only to pay for it, not realizing it's only free on Mondays and Thursdays. Maybe don't put the sign out except on those two days. Or put it on the menu (drip coffee is on us on Mondays and Thursdays).
Wasn't wowed by any means. Service needs a lot of improvement.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Apr 17, 2024
Great service and food as usual. Finally got to take my hubby for a brunch date while kids were at school. He liked the food too! Only "complaint" is that the sandwich board outside is a bit misleading (applicable only Monday and Thursday). I'd love to recommend having a wedding or private function if they put up tempered glass screens so you didn't have to see the power lines outside.

I have been wanting to try this place for a while now. I came by with some friends for brunch and it was very well worth it! The had a variety of items (food and drinks) on their menu which was great. Food was absolutely delicious as well. Service was excellent.
The only thing I would recommend is to make a reservation if you can ahead of time because it can get super busy.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Oct 31, 2023
Met up for dinner with a lovely group of foodies from Lower Mainland Eats at On & Off Kitchen and Bar. Featured here:
Mussels Mariniere
Duck Fat Roasted Fingerling Potatoes
Hokkaido Scallop & Crab Risotto
BC Mushroom Rigatoni
Charcoal Grilled Sablefish
Roasted Racks of Lamb
Churros with Chocolate Dip
One of the first things we all noticed even before we ordered any food was the ambiance. The noise level was quite moderate which made for a relaxing setting where we could all easily converse with each other. I always find myself feeling mentally fatigued when I'm in a loud restaurant where I have to struggle to hear what people are saying to me.
Fingerling Potatoes were golden and crisp. Accompanied by a stunning mushroom tempura, the mussels were plump and flavorful. Several people had ordered the Roasted Racks of Lamb and all found it to be wonderfully tender and juicy. Hokkaido Scallop & Crab Risotto sounded so amazing that I just might order it for myself if I find myself at this restaurant again. There was a lobster butter in the risotto that perfectly complemented the scallop and crab flavors. Sablefish was melt in your mouth tender. Mushroom Rigatoni had a wonderfully creamy sauce and was very much enhanced by the crunch of the pangrattato (bread crumbs).
The one dish that really fell short of our expectations was the dessert. On the evening that we went On & Off Kitchen and Bar was serving churros as their daily dessert. Two people at our table were served churros with ice cream. After that we were informed that they had run out of ice cream but could do a chocolate dip as a substitute for the ice cream. We accepted this substitution. When we bit into the churros, they didn't taste very fresh, and the chocolate sauce tasted more like coffee than chocolate.Â
Other than the dessert, this was a very pleasant meal overall. I would have never known of this place on my own as it's tucked away in a remote area of Coquitlam, but am ever so glad that I know of this place now. Their website says they have a rooftop patio and I love dining on rooftop patios!

Aesthetic interior! Would recommend making a reservation for weekends. We ordered the salmon eggs benny and the shashuka. The benny was cooked to our preference (runny), and I really liked the hashbrowns. The shashuka was good, but was a touch sour.

Wow this place is so beautiful and modern.
Mushroom pasta
Iced Hojicha Oat Latte
French toast
I was not a fan of the mushroom pasta. Not a lot of mushroom flavor that I was expecting which was kind of disappointing because mushrooms can be so fragrant. They had a lot of potential with the variety of mushrooms they had here. It was plated beautifully and the breadcrumb for texture was a nice choice. I would recommend mixing the breadcrumb first though. Perhaps it was just me but I kind of choked on the bread crumbs lol.
The french toast was fresh and sweet. The outside of the bread cubes were covered in melted sugar which added an extra sweetness. I wouldn't recommend for someone who doesn't have a sweet tooth. The portion was large with a lot of fresh fruits on top. The ice cream scoop also paired well with the bread.
The iced hojicha latte did not taste like hojicha. However, it was probably hard to incorporate in the drink because I find that the flavour of oatmilk often overpowers anything you mix it with. I think if I had asked for real milk substitute it would have been better.
Overall, the aesthetic and atmosphere is lovely and the space is decorated really nicely. There's also a small area that is covered in baked goods that you can buy on the go. this place is exactly what a modern cafe looks like and I'm glad such a pretty cafe opened up in the Coquitlam area.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Aug 22, 2023
This place has great calming music, high ceilings, aesthetically pleasing to the eye as well.
The food was okay. I though it lacked flavor. Ordered the prawn and avocado Benny and it wasn't outstanding. My bf ordered the fried chicken Benny and wasn't impressed either. It just lacked spices? Seasoning?
Service was good and attentive. Maybe I'll be back to try a croffle.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Tri-Cities F.San Francisco, CAApr 9, 2024
Very generous portions for breakfast and tasty food. The atmosphere was very classy, service was fast. They offer complimentary coffee when dining in for brunch on weekdays. The only thing was that we wished the avocado toast came with 2 eggs! Our meals came out to be $21 and $22 prior to tax.

Had a nice lunch here with a friend. The atmosphere was nice and the service was great. We stayed and chatted for a couple of hours and they kept our coffee filled

It was a new spot pop up in the community. Checked Yelp and wanted to give it a try. The parking was a bit chaotic so make sure you give yourself some time to park the car.
When you enter the restaurant the service I find it was amazing 5/5. Servers were friendly and amazing. The atmosphere is amazing to take your love one for a quick brunch. It is not a romantic candle light setting. It is more for a coffee and chat type of environment. Let's go straight to food. I honestly was a little disappointed on the food. I ordered seafood pasta and my wife order egg Benedict.
Seafood pasta : 3-3.5/5 - I personally didn't enjoy the olive that was in my pasta. It didn't really blend well. When I bite into the olive and the pasta I find it super salty. Tomato sauce and the olive overpowering the seafood taste. I also feel they should simmer the sauce a bit more because it was too soupy. I thought I was drinking tomato soup. Spaghetti didn't taste like it was freshly made but it was a little bit over cooked.
Egg Benedict 2.5-3/5- the egg was cook perfectly but I feel they should reconsider using different bread. The texture of the bread wasn't working well with their hollandaise sauce and their perfectly poach egg.
The presentation of the food is so appealing and appetizing. But when you taste the food it was like night and day. I think was a good one time experience but I might not go back again.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
