Very solid food quality, a good option for a quick lunch. They are situated in the same plaza as the Safeway, which parking is tricky at the best of time. I always opt for street parking and walk back.
I ordered their dynamite combo, which was a bit pricier than other sushi joints, but at the same time you get more food for your money. You get two pieces each of salmon, tuna and chopped scallop. It would be better if their combos came with miso soup.
Overall good sushi place, would go back again.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Apr 24, 2019
I had a volunteering event and our member ordered from Osaka Sushi. We had it delivered to us through a third party company. We got a sushi platter and assorted tempura. We noticed that they didn't give us tempura sauce. The sushi platter was ok. Not wow. It tasted the way it should. I really liked the presentation of the sushi. Tempura was nice and crispy. You can tell they fried it not too long ago and best of all, it was not soggy at all.
Everything was freshly made.Helpful 2Thanks 1Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jan 5, 2021
First review of 2021 and it's a goody. I've lived in the west end for 10+ years and this was the first time I've come to Osaka. Bad move! This sushi is probably my favorite joint!
You can't eat in but take out is efficient and super fast. The lady who took my order was super sweet and very pleasant.
My go to is spicy agadashi tofu, a veg roll of some sort (this one was cucumber) and I tried their yam yam roll (yam on top and inside). Plus, they threw in a free miso! The yam yam roll was huge! I couldn't eat half of it! Cucumber roll was standard and the agadashi tofu is the best I've had thus far! The food was so delicious and very filling and VERY reasonable.
They offer tons of dietary options (including tamari) plus they do black and brown rice. Definitely a must try and I'll continue to frequent!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Becky M.Vancouver, Canada63493920Oct 20, 2020
I'm a fan of sushi and enjoy trying various places in Vancouver. Glad I tried Osaka Sushi. It's local and offers fresh sushi at a decent price. Also, the menu is quite extensive, so the food caters to a variety of tastes. It's not just sushi; they also have karaage, noodles, bento boxes, fried squid, etc. Its always nice to have options.
I ordered through Skip the Dishes and the service was quite fast. I had a few pieces of nigiri - negitoro, aburi salmon and sockeye salmon. Delicious. I also had the Ichiban sushi roll, which is tuna, avocado and spicy tuna. I was happy with all the food.
I recommend this spot if you like Japanese style food and want to support a local business.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 1023441498Apr 22, 2020
Take out review only.....covid 19
Had an excellent take out order from Osaka with a glorious Himatchii sashimi roll, spicy tuna, scallop nigiri, prawns tempura and a mango/avo roll. Fresh, hot and tasty. My only complaint was the full order of spicy tuna sashimi because for $17 I didn't feel the proportion size was fair. The Tuna was a good grade and the sauce was alright, but the fish was mostly lettuce and spicy sauce. That dissapointed me. The fancy roll I ordered was absolutly fantastic tho. There is also the option of black or brown rice. Nice!! I think the prices are fairly standard, sans the spicy tuna, but because I ordered through a delivery service I got dinged with the service delivery fee and of course tip. I'd recommend Oska, so give it a go.Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Claire H.South Cambie, Vancouver, Canada01Jun 17, 2023
We always order by phone for pick up. Food is ready very quickly, is fresh and where appropriate, hot. Menu is extensive and everyone's tastes in sushi/sashimi and things Japanese can be accommodated. Prices are extremely reasonable. We had friends from California comment on how great the food is and that the pricing is so good.

I really wanted a tofu teriyaki tonight and was torn between that or a vegetable stirfry. Ordered the tofu teriyaki for delivery with some sushi rolls.
I was impressed with the amount of tofu (deep fried like agedashi style), stir fried beansprouts and steamed broccoli I was presented with. It was everything I wished for and more. It was delicious, not overly salted or sweet like some teriyaki sauce can be.
Also, ordered a miso soup. Generous amount of seaweed. Enjoyed the taste too.
I would totally go back for more teriyaki tofuHelpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Kory T.Vancouver, Canada802631Apr 8, 2021Updated review
Rereading my review below and realized that 2 stars was too generous considering the abysmal customer service and the fact that I had the runs after eating here. I worked at the hospital nearby and literally had to sprint back to a bathroom; I remember it clear as day. Hungry hospital workers beware.

The only thing this sushi place has going for it is that it is the only sushi restaurant in the vicinity of BC Children's and Women's Hospital. The food itself is otherwise nothing special at all.
I ordered a bento but did have a stomachache and other severe digestive problems afterwards; it was my first meal of the day so take from that what you will.
Probably more concerning is the customer service I received from some of the waitresses. Telling me to put my menu back myself or rip off my own receipt: last time I checked that was YOUR JOB.
I would sooner order the premade sushi from the Safeway next door; I will not be returning. - Jessica B.Fayetteville, AR1991311Jun 27, 2021
Osaka Sushi is a hidden gem. The sashimi and sushi rolls are always delicious, especially with black rice. The staff is so friendly and always kind! I come to Vancouver often for work and love to start my week with an unagi roll and salmon or toro sashimi. I crave Osaka sushi!
