So I , bought a 20 year old Wellcraft last August that had Evinrude problems. These guys brought those motors back to life twice for me. The last time I blew one up so I recently had it re-powered with Hondas. (on the re-power they were the most reasonable )They were the most reasonable in the area and did really great work everybody there is great to work with very knowledgeable. You have to remember it's not Jiffy Lube so it takes a minute to do things right !!you have to be patient with these guys but they do it right and they do what they say they're going to do. I would recommend anybody that has boat issues. Talk to these guys or re-power or even buying a new boat

The staff is always friendly, and willing to help. They are a wealth of knowledge. I doubt there is a boating problem that they haven't already had to address.

The outboard motor shop is by far the highest skilled shop with the best parts and service. There are two generations of boating and mechanical expertise here.
Be patient as all shops are struggling with the insane Covid demands. These demands are abnormal and since they are the best in the business they are on high demand.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Brette D.San Pablo, CA82193Sep 20, 2021

Hate to let the secret out, but this shop does quality work. I purchased a Evinrude E-Tec from them back in 2008, and they have servicing my boat ever since. The outdrive shaft broke after the motor was only a few years old, and Sharon called the manufacturer and went to bat for me and they replaced it with a heavier duty outdrive at a very discounted price. Excellent customer service, great team...Thank you!

This is my goto spot when I have a tough repair. I may need to wait a little bit to get an appt. but they fix things right. Recently needed some hard-to-find ignition parts and they had what I needed in stock. The parts guy Matt always looks up the parts numbers to double-check everything is correct and leaves no stone unturned when trying to help find a part.
They also have a good selection of fluids for all brands of outboards and stern drives. Prices are pretty competitive and I would rather give my money to a mom-and-pop shop than the know-nothings at West Marine.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Nov 19, 2011Previous reviewMy steering froze up and I could not turn the wheel in either direction. It had a fair amount of corrosion and I guess it was due. My boat is a 1990 and gets a great deal of saltwater use. Talk with Barney, one of the owners, and I made service appt. I get a call a few days later asking if I could come by so they could show me what is going on. I come by and mechanic had to use a blow torch to unfreeze steering parts. He had removed all rusted parts and cleaned, boiled and repainted. I did need a whole new steering ram assemble that I knew from searching on line was $800-900 part, Dam Volvo!! He got the steering all squared away and I got a call again about my spark plugs. Turns out I was running the incorrect plug in motor and that was causing one of my other more minor problems. I guess I screwed up when using the crossover chart to find compatible plug. Manufacturer wanted $8 a plug, that was a bit high for me. They got me right plug for fair price and boat runs smooth and good. The problem I had which was caused by wrong heat range plug is gone. While working on steering they found a leak in my exhaust elbow which now explains the warm water I was finding in my bilge at the end of a days use. I chose to fix that my self but they did get me a new set y-pipe elbows from their bone yard of new parts for a great price. I love this shop they always go above an beyond to find unsafe or unknown problems.
I question the authenticity of some of the negative reports. It seems so out of character from the people I have dealt with.Oct 4, 2010Previous reviewI have used this shop for countless repairs to 2 different boats. I always get honest answers to my questions and if I don't understand they always have time to show me. I purchased a brand new mercury 15hp long shaft and had them install it with remote steering on my swim platform. Engine was priced below every other dealer in area. Installation work was top notch and other than standard service issues all is well. The parts department is great and Jerry knows his stuff. Parts come on time and for the price quoted.
I prefer this shop to others because the owners are there every day. It is not a production shop with off site management. If you got a problem you can talk to one of the owners right away not some flunky that does not give a sh*t.
This shop gets it, customer loyalty is earned. - Tim C.Pinole, CA09Aug 2, 2021
Don't shop here. The owners are cheap.
They intimated they would take care of a BRAND NEW outboard motor,
that NEVER, NOT ONE DAY functioned. Didn't/wouldn't take it back.
You need to make "Written Arrangements" to expect a return on a defective, non functioning outboard motor. They fixed it........can I trust it? Never.
I thought buying a higher priced Mercury outboard was the way to go, turns out its actually made by Tohotsu! Huh?
Kinda wished the Owner/Salesman had told me that.
Take my chances next time with Amazon, they at least give money back guarantee!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Mister H.San Francisco, CA0831Nov 18, 2020
I bought a used boat that was originally purchased here. Today I called with a part question and the nice lady who answered my call said she'd have someone call me back. A few hours later I got a callback from a guy who may be the most condescending d-bag I've ever talked to. You'd think I was asking him for a load rather than a question about parts that I'd like to purchase. Unbelievable that someone like him could be handling customer calls. Never will I shop there. Never.

I paid $124 for the privilege of writing this review. Really, they should be paying me to do this for them so they don't end up backed up with more disgruntled customers. After two months of waiting (no surprise there- that's boat yards in spring), I have a perfectly tuned-up engine that doesn't run, complete with brand new parts that I'd already replaced with brand new parts, and four carburetors that never got cleaned (which was all I asked them to do). I got two "we'll have it done by" dates that came and went with out a single phone call. I even got to throw away a pair of binoculars and a box of fishing gear that I found submerged in a rain-filled glove box. I want my money back, and then some, but hey, writing this review is worth it if it means no one else has to go through this bs.
