Panomar Apartments

I have really enjoyed living here, despite some of the drawbacks I definitely have seen in other reviews.

We moved from an awful, mold-encrusted, insect laden apartment on the peninsula and were looking for a place we could be comfortable in and call home. We're big fans of midcentury modern design and love the 50s touches, the renovated interiors, stainless steel appliances, huge, beautiful glass doors out to our balcony, high quality countertops and bathroom tile I don't slip on. Just wonderful.

Honestly, we spent ~4 months looking for an apartment first moving to the Bay Area and made a huge mistake in our first place, even when it was the best spot we thought we could find. When we decided to bail on our first place and move to Panomar, it seemed like a breath of fresh air but we were nervous we'd have another bad experience here. That has really *not* been the case for us at Panomar. It's been great in the nearly two years we've lived here, even through a change in management which made us nervous but has so far been great. They've even had a handful of events for residents -- no joke, a comedy night, a jazz band and food, tacos, morning breakfast. If I didn't have to work long hours I'd take advantage of them more, but I've never lived anywhere that's had such nice events for no reason at all!

There is definitely noise from neighbors in hallways as you can hear passing conversations or arguments if someone's having a bad day. The boiler makes a crazy knocking noise sometimes that has woken me up in the middle of the night. Sometimes there are screaming partygoers at the hotel across the parking lot, or yacht rock techies in the marina.

Since other reviews mention it, I will say the freight elevator is keyed entry only now, and there are key fobs for everyone to get in. I personally haven't had any security issues, though I have seen people rustling around in the recyclables (sometimes early in the morning, which can be loud bc we are very close to the trash). Sometimes the elevator goes down, but it does seem like management is aware of them being a problem and they usually come back online by the next day.

The maintenance man is kind and conscientious as well and has helped us with some minor upkeep. Everyone at the front office is very pleasant and has helped us with minor issues, but we haven't dealt with anything major here luckily.

Overall, I'm honestly thankful to have a place to come home to like this.

I am greatly disappointed with Panomar. There was a review from 2015 that stated the heating system for the building was down for six months. It seems as though nine years later nothing has changed. Not worth the asking price.

Kenyu, our maintenance guy in our building is awesome! He does a very thorough and efficient job when completing repairs in my unit. He fixed the waterpressure from our kitchen sink and our issues with our dryer. Thanks Kenyu!

Mariana is AWESOME! Wow! This is such a great place to live thanks to having such a wonderful property manager and a fun loving community!

Mariana, our property manager, is always kind, courteous, and responsive to the my questions and needs. She has initiated numerous improvements to the maintenance and appearance of the property. The residents are friendly and well-behaved as are their pets.
I'm proud to call Panomar "home."

We've been here a while and always appreciate the views, amenities, and convenient location. The past few months, however, have seen a dramatic improvement with Mariana as the manager! A good place now commensurate with its location and potential.

We moved into Panomar one month ago and since our first tour, the manager Mariana and her team have made things run smoothly. We had a few maintenance requests and Henry and Kenju could not have been more swift, efficient and kind in addressing each of them the next day. The common areas are kept clean and I've enjoyed using the gym. On the Fourth of July, we went up to the rooftop and enjoyed seeing fireworks all around the bay while meeting our neighbors, who have all been nice and friendly. The only apartment design features we miss are closets and ceiling lighting - but there is so much natural light that comes in from the wall to wall windows in the living room, you hardly ever need one there. The in-unit laundry is much appreciated. It is a quiet area by the marina, and with the responsive management and other happy tenants, we are happy with our choice to live here.

My family and I have been searching for rentals in Alameda and had a great experience with the property manager, Angie. Angie gave a great tour and was flexible with our housing meds. She is professional, follows up in a timely fashion and overall made us feel at home.

Me and my girlfriend recently moved out of Panomar apartments. We rented out a one bedroom, one bathroom for about 2 years. In those two years, I had some of the best memories! My girlfriend and I always joke about how it feels like coming home to a vacation since the view from the balcony is breath taking and the natural lighting always brightened the mood, even in the toughest of days.

Management has always been kind and responsive. Angie always has a bright and cheerful attitude and really puts the tenants first. There has been management changes and a couple of growing pains, but in my experience Panomar has taken care of us pretty well.

It is located in a relatively safe area, just don't leave anything of value in your car but that goes for anywhere in the Bay Area. You are generally near everything you would need (grocery stores, parks, gas stations, gyms, restaurants, etc). There is a bus stop a couple of minutes away that takes you right into Oakland so commuting is a plus.

Overall, I enjoyed my time at Panomar and look back on to fondly. Don't let the growing pains discourage you from giving Panomar a shot, at the very least do a tour with Angie and I am sure you'll love the hospitality and unit! Hope for all the best!
