At first I was dreading that my old water heater was 10 years old and definitely needed placing as it was pooling water at the bottom. However, Payless Water Heaters made it a very pleasant experience that exceeded my expectations!

Their first specialist, Mikey, was super friendly and helpful in giving me explanations of the issue and what my options are.

The second specialist, Joel, who did the replacement, was also super friendly and professional. He did a spectacular with the replacement and even cleaned up the area around! At the end of the job, he also explained all the information I need to know to operate the water heater if need be.

The office assistant was also super helpful and giving clear instructions and heads-up prior to the specialists' arrival.

Lastly, from the job they did to all the great service and interactions, I'd say I got a GREAT value of this repair experience and would highly recommend anyone looking to have their water heater serviced!

The other night I had take a un-intended refreshing but soul crushing cold shower because the pilot light was not having it. My husband didn't even bother that night as he said cold plunges weren't his thing.

This company responded back to our cries that night very quickly and came out the next morning.

Juan is professional, saw the issues and provided options and we went with the most economical and one that would support us well for the foreseeable future. He had to drive out a couple of times for parts he did not have that were very specific to our situation in order to complete the job within a few hours, and that evening all was well again on this winter night as we all got ready for bed.

I generally do not write negative reviews I understand people are all out there trying to make a living and a bad review can have an outsized effect on a business, but my experience with this company was so bad, I feel I have to. That is part of the point of Yelp right? I had hoped given the good reviews that I had picked the right company. They said they could send someone out for $59 to do a diagnostic and that fee would be credited to any repair. Sounded good. I was having issues with my on demand Rinnai tankless water heater. It was intermittently throwing a fault code and turning itself off then restarting. I called Payless and they were able to come out the next day. The tech they sent started poking around and it became clear didn't know how to diagnose or service a Rinnai water heater. He took the cover off, told me he saw corrosion, and that because of the dampness it was likely that the electronics were affected. See all these little gaskets they would all have to be replaced if the unit was disassembled. There were a bunch more comments like that. But then after I left him to it, he basically spent an hour a half the phone with at least two other people presumably from the head office getting walked through what to do, as well as watching You Tube videos. I left him alone but could hear him as this went on and on. Finally, he calls me back out, and tells me that extensive parts need to be replaced, shows me a hand written list of a few items that total $3,800. I responded that that didn't make sense I just looked up my unit and the retail cost new is $1,400. How could parts cost more than double (they don't I looked them up as well later, the internet is great for consumers to do their own research)? Undeterred he said that the best thing to do was not to repair but just replace it, which he could do that day for $4,700. I said no, the problem was only intermittent and the unit just went right back on so it wasn't an emergency. But he persisted, he could give me a discount and do it for $4,400. Still no, he then pulled out his iPad and showed me a list of options including the "Bandaid Special" (doesn't inspire confidence) for $3,700, with that they would give me $1,000 credit for my old heater. At this point, I just wanted him to go, he hadn't diagnosed any actual problem, and now just wanted to sell me a new heater. BUT he still wouldn't give up. Told me I had to talk to his manager. Fine. He hands me the phone and then the manager proceeds to tell me how Rinnai's aren't very good heaters and they can replace it with a Noritz, IF I do it today for the reasonable price of $3,000. Again I tell this person no. But if he would like he can send me a bid. He says he will, but that the price will go up to $3,700. Okay thanks. Then the technician bills me for $118, not $59 I guess because he has spent so much time trying to diagnose the problem which he never did and then trying to sell me a new unit. Also, I made sure to run the water heater before he left to make sure he didn't actually damage the unit.

But the story isn't over. The next day, I make a few more calls, each time asking if they service Rinnai's. I reach one who says, yes we do. I proceed to tell him the symptoms I'm experiencing with the unit. He seems to know exactly what I'm talking about, asks a couple more questions of me, then says - okay try doing this and it should fix the problem. There is a stunned silence on my part. To which I finally say - You're kidding me! That's all? Yep, try that. And so I did, which didn't involve touching my water heater at all. For the last two weeks, no fault codes and no more problems with the heater. I.e. there was nothing wrong with the heater, it didn't need to be repaired or replaced. What it needed was someone who was experienced and not so singularly focused on getting me to buy a new water heater.

I was very happy with Joel's service today. It was top quality and Joel was very professional and friendly, explaining all the options clearly and providing a very quick service.
The company is also very responsive, punctual with the appointments, and has good expertise for this type of work. We highly recommend Joel and the company.

Joel with Payless Water Heaters & Plumbing replaced my water heater yesterday with a high quality Bradford White 50 gallon gas tank. I was extremely impressed with his professionalism and the quality of his work. During the job, the old hot water valve at the top of the water heater froze up and would not turn on to let water flow. Joel replaced the valve at no extra cost! He made sure to clean up and answer all my questions in detail before leaving. The pricing was very reasonable and I highly recommend this company for water heater replacement jobs.

Need to swap for a new Noritz tankless water heater and the manager gave me a great price so Joel Herrera the technician came over and replaced it. I was so happy that I chose Payless because Joel also did add some works to make the installation better than before. Had a pleasant experience and I recommend this company!

Water heater stopped working the night before. The next morning, we called and the company made us an appointment for that same day, even scheduling our appointment only a couple of hours away. Joel came out, explained what was wrong, and changed the faulty part on our water heater in about an hour. Very good service and very responsive.

Very responsive and good communication. Tech arrived early and did not start any work without verifying all service and pricing with me. The entire staff is friendly and efficient. Payless is the lowest bid among all my local water heater service providers. Most of them required to send a tech to my place with fee to look at and give quote. Chris/Michael is willing to give me quote by sending photos over. That saved me unnecessary expense during requesting multiple quotes. Their pricing structure is very straightforward and clear. The tech, Joel, came right on time. They actually sent me a text reminder for my scheduled appointment. He explained everything to me. And most importantly, no pressure from him. He let me decided what package best for me. His work is professional. He cleaned up everything after the job was done. He finished the job within 3 hours window. Very efficient. I am happy with the quality of his work. I definitely will recommend them.

I had a leak of the pipe from my water heater. I called Payless and scheduled a technician to come the next day morning. Joel Herrera arrived early in the morning and had the leaking pipe replaced. The whole procedure was fast and smooth. Joel did a wonderful job and Payless still has my record since I bought the water heater from them in 2016. They waived my service call fee. Their customer service is amazing. I highly recommend.

This is the second time we have used Payless. Awesome people. Response time is fast and they are very helpful. We ended up needing a brand new tankless water heater and Payless was able to get a heater and install it by the end of the day. Mikey is the tech that came out and was honest and did great work!
