We moved to the Bay Area from New Orleans where my daughter had a fabulous pediatrician since birth. We were understandably nervous about getting a new doctor. We lucked out and got Dr. Laura Chiang as a pediatrician. My daughter was 4 when we moved and is 10 now. She loves and trusts Dr. Laura and anything the doctor tells her to do she tries her best to comply. We also have seen other pediatricians there and they've all been great.

I called first thing in the morning for a possible concussion for a child, and the person I spoke to said the office will call back. I waited until mid morning and nobody called back. So I called the doctor's office and was told that they did not get any message and the office will not see us saying that they had no availability. The lady on the phone scolded me that I needed to call if I don't hear back. I was expecting this doctor's office to be more professional that when I called and someone said they will call back that somebody will call me back! How disappointing!! My kids have been coming here for almost 12 years!!!!

While we love Dr. Nikki, it is unbelievable that they have discontinued the advice nurse. You cannot even get a call back from the doctor anymore. Really poor patient care. I don't really understand why or when this change happened, but it is extremely frustrating and disheartening.

Supper unhappy about the service just received. My daughter went to see Dr. Nikii for ear pain. She saw her for a few of minutes and then asked the nurse to do ear wax flush and then the doctor see her ear again for another few minutes. I asked the doctor several times, are you sure no infection, no problem. She said yes. But my daughter keep having pain and light fluids coming out from the ear after the visit and the office asked me to go back again when I called and asked for advice. I have high deductible HSA insurance, I have to pay several hundreds of dollars for each visit

These guys are something else. They are illegally charging to have my son's records transfered to a new doctor. The Health and Safety Code Section 123110 states they are allowed to charge .25 cents per page but they are demanding much more. BEWARE!

I'm really sad that Dr. Parker left this office. We have been a patient of his for many years. We saw another doctor and I'm really feeling torn now about staying with them.

I am the parent of a very difficult 3 year old. I fully acknowledge his behavior and was quite embarrassed and upset by all of it. I'm struggling, the doctor sees I'm struggling, and she made a comment saying "this behavior is not normal for 3" . Normally if the behavior is not normal a doctor may have suggestions or ask more questions, dig a bit deeper. But she just sort of finished the evaluation and left. I obviously should have dug deeper as the parent and sought help but I guess with a comment like that I expected her to care more or show concern. So now I'm home looking up behavioral therapists because I'm just in a state of - what do I do?

Previously Dr. Parker recognized my sons speech and language was a bit behind. He asked questions and immediately had suggestions and had recommended us to GGRC for speech and language support. It was really helpful and obviously necessary. But I appreciated his input and his suggestions and that is what I want in a pediatric doctor.

The front desk staff and medical assistants/nurses have all been wonderful. Always very accommodating and despite my sons anxiety at the doctors and his outrageous behavior- I've never felt like they've judged me. They've been kind and compassionate. The medical assistant today, who administered shots was so lovely and so kind. I wish I asked for her name!

I'm very sad about our visit. For many reasons. But that comment will stick with me for a while I'm sure.

Very disappointed with this practice and the front desk staff. We've been patients for over 5 years with 3 kids and now it's time to find a different pediatrician.

Most doctors are good but the staff needs improvement.

Since my son started seeing Dr Parker - after his previous doctor left the practice - it has been one screw up after another. Trying to get a prescription refilled is a nightmare. Calling five or seven days ahead to get a prescription filled means nothing to this man. There is always an excuse - "He's been on vacation", "He's in a meeting", "He was too busy to do it". The office staff must be sick and tired of making excuses for this person.

Either he is over-worked or does not care, or he is incompetent, I can't think of another reason for the repeated failures to get a prescription written promptly.

I would avoid this doctor like the plague if you want to get quality care for your child.

The doctors are ok, pretty average conventional medicine. But their billing is completely incompetent. I had to spend hours on the phone with insurance companies due to their incompetence.

Dr. Parker was my baby's doctor from birth to 15 months.  Although I really like Dr. Parker, I would never recommend this practice for newborns/babies for so many reasons.

      - Lack of basic features you can find at other practices -
      1. You can't email your doctor - When we went to parent orientation before our child was born in 2018, we were told the ability to email our doctor would be available soon.  It is almost 2020 and email is still not available.

      2. No advice nurse - You can't talk to someone after hours. It says on the website that you can, but this is outdated information.  If you have a question during the day, the front desk will pressure you to come in to ask it so they can bill you.   If you insist and ask for a call back from your doctor, you may not get a same-day call back (even if it is 10AM when you call).

      3.  No tests!   They are not able to offer many tests in office, so if your baby is less than 3 months and gets even a cold, they will send you straight to the ER.   If your baby is much older (like mine was 15 months) and has a fever for more than 4 days, they will try to send you to the ER and you will wait forever and be exposed to way sicker people...just so you can do a simple blood test other practices offer in-office.

      4.  Hold times - if you call, you will ALWAYS wait on hold.  Sometimes I was on hold for over 20 minutes.  Who wants to deal with this while taking care of a sick baby?

      - Office staff incompetence and dysfunction -
Though I liked Dr. Parker, I pretty much hated everyone else who worked there. I think you will agree that the following examples are pretty egregious.

      1.  The receptionist repeatedly referred to my daughter as Emily and left me VM messages confirming "Emily's" appointments...this is not her name!

      2.  Once, I had a new nurse who panicked and said, "I can't do this, I can't do this!" after giving my baby the first of 3 shots and seeing her cry.

      3.  The same nurse measured my daughter incorrectly TWICE in two DIFFERENT visits, even though I explained to her that you have to lay the baby down straight to measure them the first time.  Then, she had the audacity to report to me that my baby had shrunk since her last visit. (Note: I am not sure she works there anymore).  I complained to Dr. Parker and he said he would "pass on" my complaints to her manager, whoever that is.  Why doesn't he manage his own nurse?

      4.  Nurse Mary Kate once put a urine collection bag onto my baby completely wrong, so when she finally peed 3 hours later (during which she could not crawl or walk and had to stay very still), no urine went in the bag.  She did not apologize.

      5.  Once, while waiting for the urine collection above, nurse Mary Kate kicked us out of the exam room where I was waiting without bothering anyone so that she could go to lunch.   She wanted me to come back after lunch.  Only a heartless person would suggest a baby with a 104 fever wait in a hot car for an hour in a parking lot.

      6.  One time, a referral to a specialist was never made as promised.

      7.  They emailed me a questionnaire to fill out about infant development, but I couldn't login in because they had spelled my daughter's name wrong (my baby has a common top-ten name).  It took weeks for them to resolve this simple issue!

      8.   Once Dr. Parker told me to go to the ER and he would call me later that night...he never bothered to call.  He later apologized for this at my next visit.

      9.  They twice sent me to a lab for blood tests that did not service babies.   Shouldn't your pediatrician know where you can go for blood tests?

      10. Twice, I called to find out what vaccines my child had and they could not tell me because her vaccines had been incorrectly charted.

      11.  Once they tried to have me sign for some vaccines and I noticed they had both spelled her name wrong and gotten her DOB wrong (again, she has a COMMON, TOP BABY NAME).   They said, "Oh, oops" and left to re-write it and the nurse was gone for OVER TWENTY MINUTES and when she returned all she did was white out the incorrect portions and write over them.  What was she doing that whole time?  Did she leave and go buy white-out at the store?

Time is a huge deal to you when you have a sick baby or you are waiting in a cold exam room with a naked child.   PWG does not respect your time.

Basically, this practice is only good if you are a seasoned parent who never has any questions and your baby is completely healthy.   If you have any questions, you will spend a fortune coming in for appointments for every minor scratch and heat rash since you can never call or email.  If your baby is ever ill, you are way better off going to a place like PAMF urgent care...they can do the urine test, blood test, chest xray, etc. all in ONE VISIT...and, unlike the ER, they take appointments.
