Pele's Muffler Works

At 5:20 a.m. this morning thieves stole my catalytic converter. I actually saw them drive off. The worst part is I just told myself yesterday that I needed to protect my car by taking it to Pele's Muffler Works and get a shield put on that would cover it to delay or discourage thieves who want to move quickly. I was a day too late. The good part is when I called Pele's at 8:30 a.m. the same morning they assured me that they could replace the catalytic converter and apply a shield all in the same day. To my amazement they did even better and completed the job in less than 2 hours. I highly recommend Pele's Muffler Works to everyone. They're really good people and were even kind to me on the price. I've used their services for mufflers and exhausts for years and have always had a great experience. In a time where catalytic converters are being stolen in every neighborhood I strongly encourage all who read this to go to Pele's and get a shield put on to protect your car and pocketbook. If you need a new catalytic converter they are more than able to help and can get you back on the road. Learn from my mistake and utilize the excellence of Pele's.

All good. I left a message in the morning, they returned my call, I arrived at 12:45, and I was out by 2:00 pm to free my cat from the vet.

Caliber Collision suggested this place after I had my stolen catalytic converter replaced. I was far from home, so I didn't have any preferred mechanics or muffler shops close by. I was able to get in the same day and they had me out within the hour. At first they said 15 minutes, but there was a rattling noise and they wouldn't stop until they got it right. Apparently a clamp was causing the problem. Still super fast and friendly service. I got to talking with one of the workers there and he had such high praise for his boss Pele. He said he was an upstanding and honest guy that pays his workers well and treats the community well. You don't hear that often these days. I should add he also drives a really cool truck!

This is a small location is tucked into the warehouse district between the freeway and the railroad, near the waste management site. It's not pretty to look at but the work they do is amazing, high quality, and hella friendly.

Catalytic converter shield install was fast and easy. First come first serve basis was nice. I was in and out in 30 minutes. All the workers were friendly! Highly recommend!

I've been working on a Volkswagen DoKa as a project for the past few years and just finished swapping out the engine. The Bus Lab over in Berkeley recommended that I check out Pele's, and I don't have enough nice things to say about them.

Natashia was super knowledgeable and helped me figure out what I actually needed. Julian and Junior did an incredible job adding the new flex pipe, flanges, and a resonator.

If you've got a project you're working on and looking for shop that will take the time to do the job right Pele's is exactly who you're looking for.

The exhaust pipe that is attached to the muffler broke off on my 2004 Nissan Pathfinder. Pele had an affordable repair option instead of replacing the whole muffler assembly. His knowledge and expertise were much appreciated!! The welding repair (including a new attachment to muffler part) work was well done!

Great team who know what they are doing. They got me in the same day. Clearly explained what was going on, made recommendations and gave me options. They gave me a fair price and even had a mechanic come in (per my request) to change a hose while they worked on the exhaust. Very nice and efficient. Also have a classic car mechanic and body shop in the same lot.

As too many of us have fallen victim to catalytic converter thieves, I am so very appreciative of the family that runs Pele's. They saved me weeks if not even months of waiting for a back ordered replacement, as they had the OEM part in stock. Hallelujah!! I arranged a tow to the shop and even the tow truck guy saw I was taking my car to Pele and he had nothing but great things to say about the business. They were speedy in working on my car and installed the shield per my request. I didn't meet Pele myself but I communicated mostly with Lagi, who works remotely and met Natashia in person when I picked up my car. All wonderful people! You truly feel you can trust them and their intention is to genuinely help you. Don't waste your time shopping around, do yourself a favor and go straight to Pele's!

Long story short, my CAT was stolen off my Prius. My insurance didn't pay the whole amount of the estimate (a rant for another day). Pele was kind enough to work with me in this unfortunate situation and also add on a CAT shield.

I would highly recommend Pele to any of my family and friends. However, I hope to never see them again ;)

So my father-in-law car is always parked outside. There has been other catalytic converter thefts in the neighborhood. Seems to be the Prius, any SUV and Accords.

So when I tried to search for a existing catalytic converter shield, none were made for the Camry, because they are not a major target.

Called Pele and they said either they fit a shield or make a cage with rebar, which was basically the same cost.

They don't take appointments, so first come first serve. They are only open during the week day, so I had a Friday off and then tried to be the first one there.
Since I was the first on there and was able to get out in about 40 minutes.
I watched them install the shield, and if required they will bend the sheet metal as required and then rivet the shield in place. Thus is service is required, the rivets will need to be drilled out.

They allowed a quick inspection and answered any questions. Very professional and courteous.

There is an outdoor seating area with chairs and one umbrella. I ended up reading a book while I waited.

Credit cards accepted so it was an easy transaction.
