Peninsula Ice

This business is closed. Their water was shut down already. They def need water to make ice...

Great prices if you can find them open. They are often closed on Sat during posted business hours. And right now their automatic machine is down (it frequently out of ice too).

This place doesn't even deserve one star.
I called days earlier to ask about dry ice and asked whether I had to make a reservation for a Thursday pick up. I was told no, they always had ice. It is after all, all they sell. Dry ice. And regular ice. (Spoiler alert: false!)

I showed up Thursday morning as I had said I would and lo and behold they have no dry ice and have no idea when they'd have any or where else I could get any. Umm, that's all you carry. And you don't have any? What the what?!?!

After calling multiple places while I pulled over, I finally located some at Smart-and-Final in San Mateo...and they couldn't have been nicer or more helpful.

Peninsula Ice is a waste of space.

THEY HAVE BLOCK ICE! I couldn't find any at grocery or liquor stores. Very helpful and loaded the ice for me. Only $2 for 10lb and $7 for 25lb block of ice-great prices! Hours aren't super convenient and they don't answer the phone, but they have an ice machine (cash only) that operates 24 hours, dispensing 20lb bags of ice.

Ice machine broken, office locked up during business hours at 11:30 am, had to go elsewhere, total waste of time

The goodness of the goodness I really love the service here when I really need it they were just there for me and my family we need it this ice to sale some fresh water for my son party I say thank you and this is the place good ice good good ice

I love this crazy place...you'll zoom past three times before you find it...once you do, it's up on the loading dock, walk past the giant freezer and knock on the office door that says ICE. The Ice-Man wait-ith! He'll always ask what you want...ice? Oh...ICE...yes!

40 lbs for 7.50...80 for 15.00...and so on...

If I could give this business a zero I would.

I drove from the Tri-Valley Area and was at the location 5 mins before the advertised opening time (7:25AM). After 3 unanswered phone calls (I left a mssg in the first call), one email and over 45 minutes later, a guy showed up.

One customer came while I was waiting and he left pissed off cause he was there the night before trying to get ice from the "24 hour machine" and it didn't work.

The employee that finally showed up said his boss had only called him at 11pm the night before and he was coming from SJ. Ok, so your boss called you the night before so why weren't you on time?

I was there to buy 25 lbs clear block ice. Well, blocks according to our Elementary School textbooks are squares. So why were these in all shape and sizes? Some of them looked like miniature icebergs with pointy edges and peaks all around. On top of that they looked dirty and I was using it for consumption.

I left and went to SF Ice Company and had far superior service and product.

I will never return there again.

I needed some dry ice since my freezer broke and found this through google. Dry ice runs about $1/lb and you get them in around 7lb chunks. Each bag is 5-10lbs from their website. This helped keep my stuff cold while I was getting a new refridge. They also carry 20lbs of ice for $4. Good if you are looking for ice but the hours are only early in the day so -1 star for short hours. It says you can call them 24/7 for ice pickup though.

Weirdest "store" you didn't know existed -- until your fridge dies. Then you can't live without them and get frustrated they are only open about 17 non-consecutive minutes a month (which, being an ice store in 2017 -- kinda makes sense). They have all your ice needs, and are far cheaper than anywhere else. They saved us while we had to wait for the new fridge to be delivered.
Going with 4 stars since their 24 vending machine didn't work. Ate my $4. But the next day, when they were actually open, the guy gave me a free bag of ice. So no biggie.

Oh-- and get this. In a world where Home Depot, Target, and other mega-stores lost many many millions in credit card fraud, but still won't accept Apple Pay (which would have prevented all that fraud), Peninsula Ice - a 100 year old store, mind you -- takes Apple Pay!!
