Penske Truck Rental

I wanted to rent a truck from Penske, but the website demanded far too much info before even stating the cost. If Penske won't show me how much it costs without my personal data (to sell to whomever), I don't need their truck.

I was going to be a customer, not a product for them to sell to marketers.

I always dread needing to rent moving trucks because of all the possible hidden fees. Penske's site wasn't joking when it says they have no hidden fees. I compared Penske, U-Haul and Budget and Penske had the best rate for a simple 17 mile move. They also provide a AAA discount which made it even more valuable to us.

However, I only decided to post this review because of how incredibly simple the process was from beginning to end! Easily reserved online. Easily cancelled my reservation so that I can order a larger truck (the 10ft truck did not include a ramp, which we needed). And when it came time to pick up, the guy I worked with was so incredibly nice and helpful.

Drop-off was simple as well. The guy was also pretty friendly so they have really great customer service here. No hidden fees, very reasonably priced, and simple process. I'll continue to come to this location whenever possible.

Only downside is that they don't have after-hour drop-off which is what I was hoping for since I work the next day but the area isn't the best so I understand why. Rent from here, you won't regret it!

We picked up our truck very far from our preferred destination (she wanted us to pickup at the nearest "Penske" location, and were told we could do an after hours drop off there. At the pickup location 53 Morrison, Sac, we asked to drop off at a Penske location closer to our facility. The clerk said that was fine. What they did not tell us is that the drop off closed at 4:30 not 5 and that 555 Florin Rd no longer has after hours drop off. When I got there at 5 (which I rushed to get there) unaware of closure time, I had to search to find someone in a shop out in the back and was told that it was slow so they decided to close. I was informed of their change in drop-off policy changes. The man in the shop said I would have to come back the next day. He did not suggest it nicely either. That's when he informed me of the drop-off change.. I rent my trucks from here often but I think that may no longer be the case. Penske you should be aware of your distributors/locations.

Went out on my lunch to get propane. Kamps line was long and the worker said he was going on lunch. Went around to Penske where there was no wait and worker came outside to greet me and knew I needed propane. Took care of me right away. Real quick and easy. Thank you!

Friendly and Great customer service!!! I come here all the time for my propane refill. Cheapest in town guarantee....

Needed a truck for moving out of state and first reserved from Uhaul. Then something made me check AAA and found Penske. Searched for a location and found this one was the closest to me. I reserved a truck with a trailer and with discounts, I was saving a little over $300 compared to Uhaul. I read many reviews saying that Uhaul does not guarantee your reservation at the place requested made me queasy. I've never used Penske before but read that this company does make sure that what you request when you request it will be there. I can attest that it's very true. They also contacted me by email and by phone to make sure my reservation was in order.

When we were driving there to pick up the truck at 8am, we were behind a Penske pick up truck with a trailer. Turned out that was ours :) When we checked in, David was the clerk who helped us and he was professional and friendly. After we checked out, he mentioned that if we need them to keep the trailer, that they would do that for us until we needed it. That was a huge weight lifted off our shoulders because we lived in a gated community with limited parking and were trying to figure out how to deal with the trailer. We got the truck on Sunday but we were leaving on Tuesday. We called Monday late afternoon to ask when we could get the trailer if it was still available. They said whenever we needed it. We left the house Tuesday after noon and got to the rental place. The trailer was still there and another guy helped us (I think his name was Mike). He helped us hook the trailer and helped us directing my car on the trailer (my fiancé drove it up). He gave us clear instructions on checking the straps. One of the trailer lights was out so he tried to fix it but didn't have all the parts so he gave us directions to Penske centers along our route. We got our light fixed and were on our way. Great service and I highly recommend it! Thank you, Dave and Mike!

Make sure you come with everything you need. AAA card, license, credit card, cause these people are by the book. PS they charge $10 for extra drivers. That's penny pinching my book. : /

I rented a truck from Penske because my last experience with their competition was awful. This turned out to be a very pleasant experience. I rented a 16 foot truck in Monterey for a one-way move. They gave me an almost new truck with less than 2500 miles on it. It was less expensive than the competition. Staff was friendly and professional during both pickup and return. The lady to whom I returned the truck came out of the office to greet me and thanked me for making sure the fuel tank was full. I will definitely rent from Penske, and this location, again.

They were so nice and promised to be professional on the phone when i made arrangements. They even followed up with phone calls the day before and the day of the rental pickup. However, It went all bad from there. The truck wasnt ready, they asked me to go about 30 miles across town to get my 2 hand trucks or to waith 3 hours to have then dropped off. The girl in office, I think her name was Diamond, told me that she could not sell me the packing tape in the office, because she didnt have it in inventory. They set me almost hours behind in moving before they were able to get me what I needed. And I had to send friends over to the North end of Sacramento to get hand trucks. It was pretty bad! Once I got to Baltimore, MD the customer service was even worse. And the Director promised me a reimbursement check which he never sent. He was awfully rude!! There was such a disconnect between the customer service on the phone and what i recieved in person! Really, bad! Especially because my trip was so far and daunting and they made it worse!
