Peoples Car Wash Mobile Detail Services

These folks gave me a fantastic car wash the last time I visited their satellite location (somewhere closer to Berkeley). I brought my car in near the end of the business day on a weekday and got great, quick service.

It looks like they have their own lot now on San Pablo. I drove out to West Oakland for this car wash because they are the best in town.

Maybe they were understaffed because it was a Sunday morning, but it took almost 1.5 hours for them to finish washing my hatchback Subaru, outside only! The lot was very full, with perhaps 8-10 other customers waiting. Even with the high amount of customer traffic, I still find it hard to rationalize coming here if it means waiting 1.5 hours for the car wash to finish.

It's still the best car wash in town, and the staff is friendly and professional. I just fear that the popularity of the car wash makes it tough to keep coming here.

The cost of the car wash is $15, but the opportunity cost (lost time) is also appreciable.

Wow wow wow. Can I say what a magnificent job for what I brought to work on. My car was layered in about a year of dog hair and just dirty in general from never having the car detailed for the 3 years I've had it and what can I say ?! Greg brought me all the way back from the Gulag. My car was in true desperation of help and he definitely helped revive my car more than I thought was even capable. So I'm super grateful for the service provided. He made me feel comfortable about leaving my car key with him and was super nice and personable. I highly recommend if you want a good exterior and interior cleaning. It was about $162 on Groupon for a premium service.

This place was super reliable in responding! I got an exterior and interior clean. They came on time and did a great job cleaning the car. Even removed some stains from the seat that the previous detailing hadn't removed. Ishmael was the person who did the work and was very kind and you can tell put in a lot of hard work. I highly recommend!

If you have a dog, hire Peoples. I've had my car detailed before by another service and it was just "Hmm, I guess this is the best anyone can do with dog hair." Then Peoples detailed my car and now it looks brand new.

I had a 90-pound husky mix that looked like a small Newfoundland. Lots of long, shaggy fur. We hiked every day and went to the beach every week, so you can imagine the level of sand, dirt, fur, and foxtails. I hadn't even had my car cleaned at all (let alone detailed) in years because what was the point? It would just get dirty again immediately. But last month my beloved dog passed away from old age, so I finally decided to clean the car as a rite of passage.

I had called another place first (also with great Yelp reviews) that answered the phone with nothing more than a gruff, "hello" and only accepted cash. I got such a weird vibe from them that I canceled and called Peoples.

Peoples is incredibly professional and their prices are even a bit lower than average. I honestly couldn't believe how clean they managed to get my car. They're also just lovely people; smart, knowledgeable, and easy to talk to.

Peoples has my highest recommendation.

Finally after all this rain and sunny days ahead I took my car to get detailed. They did such a fantastic job I brought my other car in the same day.

NEVER AGAIN! Wet, moldy, mildew, filthy, and smelly. Horrible customer service! ZERO STAR EXPERIENCE!

My car was "detailed" by People's Car Wash on November 5. This has been the worst experience and customer service I have ever received from any company I've done business with. After using a Groupon, I paid a total of $271 for their "Complete Detail Interior & Exterior" detail. They originally told me it would take 2 hours to detail, it took 3.5 hours. What I received back was absolutely not acceptable! The car was thoroughly soaked from the shampoo treatment and even though I followed their instructions of keeping the windows open and blasting the heat, the car was still wet two days later when I had to drive it to work. The smell in the car was unbearable. The mold and mildew had set in. As I began to inspect more, the neglect of the detailers at People's Car Wash began to unfold.

There was still dog hair all over the floors and back seats. The glove compartment, ceiling, center console, and driving column were UNTOUCHED. The smell from the car being soaked and not vacuum-dried properly was overwhelming. It was so bad that I couldn't even drive the car home from work with the windows down. I spent nearly 4 hours (and nearly $120 in cleaning supplies) after work in a Target parking lot having to deep clean my upholstery, clean out the leftover dog hair, and wipe down the surfaces to clean the dirt off still.

My partner emailed People's Car Wash with the photos attached here to ask them if this was acceptable work that they felt proud of. One of their staff members, Marcus Flowers, quickly called back apologizing for the subpar work and asked if we could bring the vehicle back in to be re-detailed. As I no longer trusted Marcus or People's Car Wash, we told him we did not feel comfortable bringing the car back to him after I had already detailed it myself. I simply wanted my $271 back so we could go our separate ways. This is where the horrible customer service came in.

After my partner had been playing phone-tag with Marcus for a week and a half. We finally were able to get a hold of Marcus and he had a laundry list of reasons why he could not process a refund for the "work" that was done. He wouldn't even let my partner speak on the phone because he always had something to say. Finally, I took the phone and told Marcus that he could either process the refund, or I would be posting this review. His immediate response was a threat and suggested I "come visit him" so we can handle this like men. Excuse me, but threatening physical harm to your customers because you don't like what they have to say is not an appropriate response. What ensued afterwards was Marcus continued to speak to me in a condescending and belittling tone and still tried to make excuses for why the work was not done as expected. He tried putting the blame on me saying: "Did you know how dirty your car was?" - Yes... that's why I paid you nearly $300 to detail it. After he started threatening me with lawsuits if I posted this review, I ended up hanging up because he was not interested in anything else I had to say.

Marcus Flowers and the People's Car Wash stole $271 from a first time customer. The "detail" job they did left my car in worse condition then when I brought it to them in the first place. I am shocked by the service I received from Marcus and People's Car Wash, especially after seeing so many other people's positive reviews. This whole situation has been a huge, expensive disappointment. Please save yourself the time, frustration, and money and take your business somewhere else.

This is company difficult revue to write. i went to Peoples several times prior to the covid pandemic. They did good work and were respectful people.
I called today and discovered that they no longer had their lot but worked out of gas station in Berkeley on the weekends or at the customers home during the work week. So I decided to drop by the gas station today which is a Sunday. Their were two people there -- a man and a woman. The man was very friendly and said he recalled me from the past. The lady was pleasant.
The woman worked on the my interior while the man was working on another car. My interior was very dirty but she did an excellent job of cleaning it!
The man asked me to drive my car to him after about an hour. Famous last words from me " Please check that the windows are rolled up."
After he said he was done, I noticed that the passenger window was slightly cracked and unfortunately half the front passenger seat was wet. He told me that it would dry quickly, so not to worry. He was very casual about it. I should have paid closer attention when he had just handed another customer a floor mat that was soaking wet and told him it would dry quickly-- really, near sun set? I drove to the sunniest place I could find to sit in the sun. After two hours it is not totally dry. I pray I do not get as mildew problem, as another review wrote here.
There were also some small tares on the rear window carpet. I told him I was going to let that go, after he said it was already torn and thought I did not notice?!? He felt I was too picky and they had done a good job-- partially true. He also said a relative had died that morning and he was upset and he still had to go to another job so could not spend more time on my car. Perhaps he should have taken the day off? If you go here, come early in the day and bring a hair dryer just in case. They are nice people who do uneven work.

I had a great experience with Peoples Car Wash. I needed a same day car wash (I left things to the last minute) and they were able to accommodate and get someone out to my house in just few hours! Gregory did a very thorough cleaning inside and out and took extra care getting all of the dog hair out and dirt from underneath the floor mats. The price was also very reasonable for the level of care, detail and convenience. I would absolutely hire them again!

I was elated to see a sign for car wash pop-up this weekend, at the gas station on University Ave at MLK. I've only gone to drive thru auto car wash a few times since I bought my car 3 years ago, and have been on the lookout for a hand wash place. I went for a basic exterior wash, which took about 20 minutes. I was pleasantly surprised how thorough these guys were, and how reasonable the price was. I hope they will continue to set up the pop-up car wash in Berkeley. I will want to get my car washed every other week!

Call in to make appointments, otherwise, you might be waiting to get your car treated and at the mercy of whether they accommodate you due to the amount of staff. My car has long been over due for interior washing and finally got the chance and time to bring it for washing.

Hard and diligent workers. Service was great.

The spot is a once gas station and now converted into a car wash area seemingly. It's great to utilize spaces like these instead of having a vacant place not doing anything!
