Pete's Moving Services

This company was recommended by our realtor. Movers were not always on time, they did stay late when needed, though they asked for a tip. Difficult to get a hold of Pete after the initial estimate, even the movers couldn't reach him. This was an out of state move. Way too many items broken. I was told things were moved several times while in their care. Compensation at 60% was fine but the assigning of value was not accurate for family heirlooms that were damaged. I highly recommend getting additional insurance well before your move. The packers were quick and efficient and packed by room, not by like items which made for a hectic unpacking and wondering where everything is. The time line for reporting damage is short, and if you're disabled, makes unpacking a full time job. The unpackers were a third party local contract, not part of Pete's team except the driver. The driver was in a hurry, the other unpackers complained about putting furniture where it needed to be. I was told the unpackers would unroll rugs and put furniture where it needed to be, put beds together, pretty much all unpacking but they could not hang anything in the wall. Only large furniture was placed. Many heavy items were left in rooms for us to place, which meant we needed to hire someone. The office staff was always nice. I would try another company in the future just to compare. After all it costs us over 10G.

Friendly, on time, efficient and gets the job done! Will call Pete's again when we need help moving heavy item or anything that we need help with, they were wonderful!

Using several moving companies in the past to move my items across the country, I went to Pete's services looking for a simple local move. The customer service was prompt, friendly, and responsive, however there were caveats with the value of work. Here are some highlights:

-Bedroom wall was damaged, will need to be filled and patched
-Automotive parts were damaged, it was an accident
-Assisted the crew members with some furniture disassembly (nice guys, but seemed a bit inexperienced)
-Scratches on my tempered glass table as they left the screws in my TV (from mounting) and placed the TV on that table
-Some items I wanted brought to my new place were left behind, I wasn't even questioned if I wanted it or not.

Here's some feedback, hopefully to help relieve heartburn for future customers:

-Allow a mover/staff member to assess the home they are unloading from or to. Do it in person or via zoom, for a more accurate quote. If this was proposed I would have happily complied
-Allow the customer to hold the key to the truck if the items being moved aren't itemized, especially if the staff needs to make a stop before the destination (a nice to have)
-Respond to negative reviews as well as positive reviews
-Just charge the flat $240/hr for local moves instead of the inflated $1000/3 hrs + $240/hr afterwards. Chances are these movers aren't making more than $30/hr or are getting benefits so it wouldn't hurt your bottom line that much

I requested a second online estimate to move the same 2 items from several months ago.
Their estimate increased by $500.00

Pete's is the best moving company in the valley! I recently contracted Pete's for the second time, and was just as happy with their service as I was the first time. Isaiah and Santos were professional, thorough, well-organized and truly a joy to spend the day with.

These guys are on top of it! Every interaction from requesting a quote, confirming a time, to the actual move was a prompt and efficient experience!
For our move, Johnny & Fred were awesome! I moved from Stockton to Martinez and they were so fast and efficient that we did the whole thing under 3 hours!! (It wasn't a lot of stuff.)
They were also very attentive and careful by wrapping everything and making sure it didn't get scratched.
Will DEFINITELY be using them again!

I've used Pete's 6 times now and the last move was 7/30/2024. I've never had anything but positive things that I've experienced with Pete's. I had cy and Isaac for my recent move of several extremely heavy solid oak furniture that I had stored at Pete's storage and needed moved into my curved upstairs bedroom. it's a ridiculous curved stairway with a chairlift rail attached also. these two young men worked together like pros and managed the move flawlessly. I will always recommend Pete's, he's never let me down! Thanks Pete, Isaac and Cy!

This is the second time I have used Pete's in the last year. The first move was smaller and closer in distance but went perfectly. This time I had them come all way to Santa Cruz for a move to Valley Springs. I was worried the second time around would not be as great as the first time but fortunately I was wrong. I figured by the time they arrived to Santa Cruz from Modesto they'd be tired and worn out after a 3 hr drive leaving at 4:30 am. Got the upbeat text letting me know that they had left and when they were getting close. Arrived on time and very upbeat and friendly. One of them was one of the guys from the previous move, Julian. The other two were as upbeat and friendly as he was, Santos and Will. My place is small but somewhat packed with heavy antiques and tons of heavy outdoor items. They had everything loaded before I knew it without one whine or complaint. We took off to the destination which was much more complicated due to it being a two story home and unfortunately the largest and heaviest of the items needed to go upstairs. Again not one complaint, just smiling and joking the entire time. I have used many movers over the years but I can guarantee you there is no better moving company than Pete's, not to mention being very competitive. I hope I never move again but if I do my first call will be to that friendly, helpful and organized office staff at Pete's. Thanks again Pete for the awesome move...

This was my second time using Pete's. The first time was my own move a few years ago and this time was for my moms move. Julian and Steven where excellent. Very professional, timely and efficient. We couldn't have done this huge move without them!

From the moment we called them til they pulled away from the move, this company was the best to deal with. Their quote was spot on. The customer service was there. The movers, Julian and Allan were considerate, knew their business of wrapping and moving furniture. They were fast never lacking in energy. They were fast in getting from loading address to delivery address. All furniture and boxes were delivered. Appreciated their positive attitude toward their work.
The quote we received was fair for the work needing to be done. Their hourly rate was fair as well. This company was able to get the move completed on very short notice. Would recommend and use again.
