Curious generally speaking how long does it take for kids to learn, specifically one around 4-5?

      A:

All kids are different, so the answer can be different for each kid. If the kid has no fear of the water and is willing to learn, a kid can learn to swim within minutes. If the kid is nervous, this can take a little bit of time. Most swim schools… more

We have had a very positive experience at Pomeroy since my son was 2.5 (he is 7 now). What I love about it is how low key and easy it is. We have never had a problem getting spots in classes, the location is straightforward to get to, and there is parking right outside the building. The instructors, especially the long-time ones (Lisa, Mary, David, Robbie) are wonderful (we have yet to experience with the other instructors but I imagine they are great as well).

It is a rehab center so there is a wonderful welcoming vibe to everyone of all ages and abilities. I highly recommend Pomeroy! It has been a beautiful experience to watch my son learn to swim.

Shady practices of getting giving preferential enrollment to some folks. Enrolled my 11 month old baby in rec swim and then rather than taking accountability and putting her in an age appropriate program refused to let us into the cuttle fish program. Disorganized and would highly not recommend

I was lucky to discover their hall rentals through a friend. The manager, Rosie, was incredibly helpful and respectful. Due to the pandemic, we were uncertain about hosting my sister's Quinceañera. When we ultimately decided to proceed with the celebration, finding a nice hall was nearly impossible as it was unplanned and the date was rapidly approaching. I was extremely grateful that they had an available space, as it was my sister's dream and I wanted it to come true. The hall was spacious and with great lighting, and the staff was fantastic.

I previously wrote a bad review and I forgot I did. And I am embaressed it took me a whole year to change it. They accepted my son in swimming class and I am very grateful after an email. The thing with Yelp is that it's a place to vent and praise, and very not fair to businesses when it goes the wrong way.

He's actually swimming, floating and treading! We were in baby class and then now he moved to the next level and the kid is swimming. He has Autism and he is non verbal and he's 5 going to be 6 soon and this is huge for him. His dad and I are so grateful for this group of wonderful teachers. THe swim program is wonderful. I'm sorry I ever said anything bad about it.

This review is specifically for the swim lessons for the Penguins class (3-5 yr olds)-- we LOVE it!

I live on the coast so there technically are closer options but after much research and a lucky chance they had an opening at the exact time we needed (fate?), we chose them because: the classes are an HOUR long, the pool is bigger than some of the kids swim schools, big locker rooms, and smaller class size (max amount of kids we've had in his class is probably 5 with 2 teachers).

It's slightly more expensive (200ish for 8 weeks I think- maybe a little more) but my son's swim skills have blossomed so much even after just 2 classes.

Teacher Robbie, Teacher Abby, and Teacher Audrey are great. My son especially likes Abby.

Covid protocols are great- we had to show proof of vaccination when checking in and paying, then wear a mask while inside the building to keep everyone safe. No masks in the actual pool.

There's been a couple classes where no other kids came so my son got basically a private lesson.

For those of you who are trying to sign up for toddler lesson, you should expect that Saturday will never be opened to public. So, I signed up in person today before they post the new form online. But staffs kept saying that you shouldn't try Saturday class which they will be full. Then, couple hours later, they left me a voicemail that Saturday is full. The weird thing is the online registration doesn't start until 3 pm today and I am writing this at 2 pm. It really makes me wonder how on earth anyone can sign up for Saturday. I wish they would just close the Saturday from public. This is such a shady practice.

But it is a nice and friendly place for people to have a good time.

First thing to say is when you rent this facility your money goes to the programs that help the folks that utilize this center! Now that you have dual purpose go rent it! When renting this facility, Rosie was our main point of contact. She was great, very friendly and very responsive. I can't say anything bad about the hall as everything we asked or wanted was talked about and allowed or not allowed she covered everything! The hall is a beautiful facility, especially on days like we had Sunny and beautiful SF weather. We did have our bar hosted and outside on the patio which worked out great with the weather. The glass area in the east end of the hall tends to get hot! We had a great event that went flawless thanks to the folks at Pomeroy. Thanks Rosie!!!!!

They must be doing something right, because I see tons of buses from San Francisco Paratransit and other accessibility services whenever I come here!

They have a great, clean, heated pool. We came here for infant / toddler swim lessons, so I'll speak on that pool. Note that a guardian (e.g. parent, grandparent) is required to be in the water with each child.

There are wide, gentler stair/ramps, and a true ramp for gentle access into the pool. Infant and toddler class is great: all kids exercise together at first, then split into a younger and and older section for more personalized instruction. Lifeguard was duty, and was very attentive--during 'riskier' events, they would climb down off of their chair and standby the pool watching everyone like a hawk.

Plenty of parking out front beyond the gate, and handicap parking closer to the front entrance. Everything is laid out as one-way streets, so that helps in terms of driving and traffic management as well.

I've been a volunteer here since 2021, and I have loved every second of it! The staff are incredible and you can see how much care and love goes into the events, schedules, and programs for the kids, teens, and adults! I have created the most meaningful relationships with so many students, and how the staff implement independence and give them all the support they can give highlights that investment in each relationship that I admire, appreciate, value, and ultimately learn from.

This is definitely a hidden gem! My review is based on the banquet hall (main hall). My family has used this hall for parties for 25 years and I have seen how the hall has evolved (for the better). They have upgraded the place and it's really quite lovely for any event you are having. The hall has plenty of room, ample parking, a full kitchen and separate area that you can use for a bar. It has spacious and clean bathrooms and there's a lot of room around the hall if your guests need some air. The stage is huge! So is the dance floor depending on your set up. We were able to have 18 round tables, 1 dessert table, I gift table, 1 fruit table, a Photo Booth and 3 buffet tables all of them located in the hall and we were not crowded! Rosie is the person in charge of the reservations and she is amazing! She stays on top of everything, is quick to respond to any questions you have. Will meet with you in person to give you the run down of the hall and will introduce you to the supporting staff that will be present (out of sight) at your event. What more can you ask for!
