    About the Business

    Established in 1987. The Putnam family name has long been a staple of the auto industry since Joe Putnam first entered the industry in 1953. After Joe was born on a small farm in South Dakota in 1934, he grew up in one of the more troubling economic periods: the Great Depression. His parents were very intent on each of their children growing up to be upstanding members of society. It was in 1953 where Joe, after marrying his high school sweetheart, Mary Lou, moved off to Minneapolis and began his venture into the auto industry. Over five years, Joe gradually became one of the top salesmen for Ford Motors. Only seven years later, success had enabled Joe put the family on the move again, this time headed for California. Joe opened Putnam Buick and began to secure his place in the Northern California auto industry. But the dream didn’t stop with just one dealership. By realizing the changing times and understanding the growth of the imported car business, Joe expanded in 1987 to include a Mazda dealership.

      I had a great experience at Putnam Mazda when I leased my new Mazda CX-30.
      From the moment we arrived, Vasily provided exceptional service. He took the time to explain different models and trims, and helped us test drive two models. Vasily's knowledge and expertise were impressive, and he was friendly and approachable. He was with us every step of the way, from the initial consultation to the final purchase, ensuring that everything went smoothly. His guidance helped me choose a car that perfectly fit my needs.
      Overall, I highly recommend Putnam Mazda and Vasily to anyone looking for a new vehicle.

      Jacob Candiotti. He's the guy.
      Big kudos to Josh and Cartier, too.

      Jacob helped me drive away in a PHEV (which I thought I could *never* afford.) I was not even in the market to upgrade. I had a year left on my CX-30 lease.

      He is not a slick snake charmer sales guy. (I find it difficult to put my trust and wallet in the hands of a male salesman who uses slippery tactics.) Jacob is not that kinda guy. He is relatable. And he *loves* what he does. And, clearly, he is good at it. He achieved his objective and made me a happy customer. All the while being respectful and a good listener.

      Jacob's niche is Leasing and PHEV. There are lots of rebates and incentives right now. I traded in my sporty CX-30 at year 2 of my 3 year lease. I am now driving a 2025 Mazda CX-70 PHEV Premium.

      If you have ever considered making the move to a Plug In Electric Vehicle (Hybrid), speak with Jacob at Putnam Mazda in Burlingame. (He also represents Toyota, Lexus and Subaru, so there are lots of cars to pick from.)

      We reached out online prior to going to the dealership to see if the car we were interested in was available and got a response from Nestor within a couple of hours, which was impressive.

      When we visited the dealership, Vasily came over and asked if we needed any help. He was very friendly and never pushy. We were impressed with his knowledge of the vehicles and he was extremely helpful in facilitating the car buying process. We never felt rushed and he provided us with ample time to answer any questions we had. He was patient and sat down with us to explore all the important features of the car and we left feeling comfortable driving it right away.

      Shoutout to Nestor and Vasily for making the car buying experience so efficient and easy!

      Brought in a Mazda 3 that stalled while driving in the middle of the road. I towed the car to their shop and I paid for a $200 diagnostic. The conclusion of their diagnostic stated that the throttle body had buildup and the MAF sensor was broken.

      They wanted me to pay over 2000 dollars to replace the MAF and throttle body assembly. All that actually needed to be done was clean the throttle body with a 4 dollar can of cleaner and replace a $150 Mazda brand part which required removing 2 phillips head screws.

      When I refused the service and came to pick up the car the battery was completely dead. I'm not understanding why they completely drained my battery; and I was forced to buy a new one. Horrible experience which completely ruined my trust with this business.

      Every other mazda dealer I have been to has been top notch and even provided pictures of the parts/condition of the car. I had to repeatedly ask for the results of the diagnostic work done to find the problem. $360 dollars in labor to replace a sensor attached with 2 philips head screws? The proof is in the paperwork.

      Go somewhere else, this place is a scam and untrustworthy.
      If I could give them 0 stars I would.

      $360 dollars to unscrew a maf sensor and put in a new one? Scam.
      MAZDA brand part for 1/3 of the price of the invoice? Scam.

      Big shoutout to Jacob for helping me get into an amazing new car. I came in and let him know that I wanted to be out the same day with my new car, but for the right price. At first we weren't even close, but he worked with me and got me exactly where I wanted to be.       We have been looking for a new car for almost 2 years and we have found it challenging to make a decision. Do we go electric or maybe purchase our last gas car in CA? I recently ran my husband and eldest son around to many dealers to look at and test drive cars.

      We pulled into Putnam Mazda and met Vasily Rozhkov. He was easygoing, patient, and thorough with his knowledge/information. We made our way toward the CX-90, not only was the exterior beautiful, but it also ticked a couple of the other boxes we discovered during our search. We found that not all midsized SUVs are created equally, in leg or head space. Our 6'1" son fits just fine in the second row in both of these instances...yay! This gave us the confidence that almost everyone else would feel comfortable.

      I liked the exterior of the car but the inside is wow :-) It is comfortable and spacious. There are many fun options (cooling seats are amazing), and I like the new "heads-up" function and the driver-side dashboard screen options. I have upgraded from a 2003 Suburban and appreciate the old-school mph gauges (digital, of course). I like how it drives and I appreciate the hybrid aspect of the CX-90, I never thought I would drive a plug-in hybrid! I can run local errands, getting 25-ish miles, on the electric charge. For longer trips, I get decent gas mileage.

      When the time came to make the purchase Vasily walked us through the always awkward/annoying process of purchasing a car. Once the purchase was complete, Vas spent a good amount of time running through all the options in the CX-90. At no point did we feel like Vas was rushing us, he took his time and we went through all the options. After our set-up session, he gave us his full attention for any questions we had. We appreciated working with Vasily, as he helped make this a much more pleasant experience than anticipated.

      Had a great experience here buying a new car for our kids. Vasily is a very well informed Sales Associate that really knows his Mazdas! Extremely helpful, knowledgeable and very friendly. Overall, great deal. Everyone onsite seemed very friendly as well.

      i am on my 4th Mazda from this shop. My latest car, the CX5 2024 was an excellent purchasing experience thank Vasily Rozhkov.

      An honest helpful and patient sales person with a good sense of what your buying needs are. we worked patiently for over 2 months to close on the car and I love my purchase!
      i eventually ended up purchasing the Turbo version which Vasily gently hinted would feel better.

      I have leased two Mazdas from this dealer, one after another. This last time, the person I was working with (Vasily) was very communicative, responded promptly to my questions and strived to accommodate my needs as much as possible. I hope to work with them again in the future.
