Situation: family visiting from out of town, 105 degrees outside over July 4 holiday, AC is blowing hot air. Qualtech was able to schedule me for a visit within 24hrs, quickly identified the issue and repaired at a very fair price. The tech was very pleasant to work with.
I love supporting local businesses! Way to go.
Best~

I echo some of the negative reviews. Qualtech installed the ac units on our house. We are the second owners. The capacitor burned out, and the wire was noted to have melted. Typically this is due to a loose connection, likely from qualtechs initial install. The tech denied this, and even though they were the original installers, they would not honor the original labor warranty, instead wanting to charge $300 for a repair that takes 5 minutes. They were also refusing to obtain the part through warranty, and trying to pass the cost on to us. I attempted to speak to their office manager about this but she was terse, and showed little empathy. We ended up finding a company which performed the repair at half the cost. I would not recommend qualtech for the following reasons:
1. Poor initial workmanship on the original install
2. They do not stand by their labor
3. Pricing is not transparent
4. Poor customer service at middle management level.
Given the plethora of choices in the area it is probably worth going with another company.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Barbara B.Walnut Creek, CA1017Aug 8, 2024Updated review
Once again I am writing to compliment Qual Tech. Erica made sure I understood the new HVAC permit approval process, the energy rebate we would receive, the ReCon Energy [sp?] state mandated testing of our new HVAC system and the Rossmoor and Walnut Creek permit and inspection processes. I can't say enough about how caring the folks at Qual Tech are. And, it's my experience they also deliver incredible value due to the care they provide. I think there are many companies out there who install HVAC systems and maintain them. But, this level of service, and honesty, is remarkable. I think you can't go wrong choosing this company for your HVAC system and maintenance needs. BRAVO!

Everyone did a great job per my prior review of the install. Omar made sure the thermostat was programmed, calibrated the temp settings and tested them with his infrared temp reader. We are grateful for Qual Tech's support and proudly recommend them. This is very good value and support for the money.
Jul 31, 2024Previous reviewWe ordered a new heat pump deciding to replace it before the 22 yo one failed. QualTech has been our HVAC service company for a few years. They are honest and reliable. Today Antonio and Wilson arrived at the arranged time, carefully removed the old system and installed the new one. It took a little over 6 hours - as promised. I was worried we'd have to rent a portable a/c unit. But, they did the job in the time they said it would take. They were also very careful of things in our home and cleaned up after themselves. I cannot recommend them highly enough. As far as price is concerned - what we paid was less than some of our neighbors have paid using other contractors. Thanks for the good job you guys!

I employed qualtech on multiple jobs throughout my house. They replaced the ducting in my crawlspace, replaced the HVAC when it blew in the middle of the winter, installed a new heat pump to replace an old compressor, installed two mini splits, and replaced an old gas water heater with a new hybrid electric heat pump water heater. Abraham, Elijah, Erie, and Wilson were exceptional and efficient. The real star of the show is Erika who was incredibly persistent in her quest to get me a variety of rebates.

First of all, and actual person answers the phone. The service was personalized all the way. Erika the primary contact provided answers to any questions I had. The workers who did the install, Antonio and Elija were very responsive and helpful, and even complemented me about the state of my attic. They explained everything very well. Cannot recommend them more highly. I felt I received a quality product, qualtiy service and at a reasonable price. Thank you all.

Needed to replace a very old and inefficient air conditioner unit and furnace. Daniel Alvarez was super quick to come over and give a quote and was very professional and courteous. He also gave me many options and his professional opinion as to the best direction and why. When it came to the install, Antonio and Abraham were a wonder duo going to every length to make sure I was happy with the install and spent two full days at house making everything was removed and installed perfectly to me and my wife's satisfaction! In addition, Erika handled all the paperwork for rebates with state. GREAT experience!

We have been using Qualtech since 2011.
They always do a great job. Always show up on time and are polite, efficient, and knowledgeable. Wilson and Abraham did a great job on the installation, were prompt and courteous and explained everything.
Highly recommend Qualtech!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Linda N.Alameda, CA342Jun 6, 2024
I had to replace my older furnace. I went on the internet to find a good replacement. Qualtech responded quickly. They couldn't make repairs to the old furnace because no parts could be found. Gave me a quote and I accepted. The replacement went smoothly and thoroughly. Passed inspection. I am very pleased and satisfied.

Beware of Qualtechhvac - Our Experience with a Scam!
We want to share our recent experience with Qualtechhvac to warn others about their dishonest practices.
Timeline:
* 5/14/2024: Technician Omar said our AC control board was out and that our air duct had a leak. He quoted us $600 to fix the AC and $1000 for the air duct.
* 5/17/2024: Technician Abraham visited, said the air duct was fine, changed the control board (didn't fix the issue), then changed the transformer, which finally worked. Despite Abraham's initial statement, Omar convinced him to claim the air duct was fixed. My husband requested before and after photos of the air duct repair, but none were provided. Despite this, they insisted on charging us $1600.
* 5/18 - 5/27/2024: We repeatedly asked for before and after photos of the air duct repair, but Qualtech ignored our requests. When Qualtech sent Omar to take after-fix photos on 5/21/24, We did not authorize any work on the air duct, but we heard Omar taping the air duct before taking photos, trying to falsify the repair.
* 5/23/2024: We disputed the $1000 charge for the air duct repair with Credit Card Company.
* 5/27/2024: We emailed Qualtech requesting a $1000 refund for the unnecessary and unperformed air duct repair.
* As of 6/18/2024: No response or photos received from Qualtech.
We feel scammed and ripped off by Qualtechhvac. If we don't get justice through our credit card dispute, we will file complaints with the BBB, consumer protection agency, and state attorney general, and take legal action. We want to ensure no other consumer gets financially abused by this dishonest merchant.

After this review, the nice / well put together original sales person called, apologized, said the owner had seen it and asked to call and what they could do to make it right. I offered they either return to finish the job as the original contract described it or change the price to whatever not cleaning / re-sealing the bottom plenum connection should have cost. They said they would return and fix it and asked me to change the review to five stars. I said I would once they finish the work. He said the office would call me to schedule that, hung up, and I never heard from or saw them again.
Again, they did decent work, that appears to have held up, but I do wish I had personally supervised the job a lot more closely.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Nov 11, 2022Previous reviewGot a quote of $3200 to remove furnace, clean, and re-seal return and replace supply plenum. Got most of it in writing and partially verbal commit to wipe down the return plenum. Day of work, they finished 3 hours early (while I was in a meeting) and asked my wife to sign a new contract for a different set of work, since the guy on-site felt removing and re-sealing the return was not necessary, but still kept price at $3200.
They did good work, and maybe the re-sealing wasn't necessary after all, but definitely over-charge and be sure to get everything in writing and sync with every adult in the house on what should and should not be signed in case they decide to re-scope the work half way through.
