We had a Rayne reverse osmosis system under the kitchen sink for a couple of decades. When we replaced the kitchen counters and sink, we decided to try a different type of water filter which was top-rated by Wirecutter and Amazon. While it was inexpensive and easy to self install, the water tasted awful and it left mineral deposits in our countertop hot water pot. So we bit the bullet and went back to Rayne.
Don Echols, the consultant, was easy to talk with and very helpful. Once we made the decision, the installation went quickly and smoothly. The newer RO system doesn't take up quite as much space under the sink as the old one. The water tastes great. No deposits in our hot water heater. Purchased a water conditioning unit a several years ago -- it was installed outdoors per recommendation of the technician. fast forward 5 years and i can't read the display anymore -- it has clouded due to exposure to the elements.
i was recently sent a "blue card" to get a discount on a service maintenance for my unit. i called and made an appointment. on the day of this first appointment date, the technician never showed up. when i called, they said they didn't have my appointment in their system, so i made another appointment at that time.
on the second appointment date, again, the technician never showed up. i called again and they said they didn't see my appointment in their system, so i made a third appointment. they assured me i would be the first one that day. They again never showed up. I called them several times, both the day prior (to confirm that i was still on their schedule) and after they didn't show up on the day of -- no one ever answered or returned my voice mail :(

Horrible system & customer service. Although I had been looking into purchasing our water filtration system from another supplier, Donnie talked my husband into Rayne. He was car salesman slick and had us both convinced this was the better system. That our hard water problems would be solved. We would just have to wipe the fine white away, that nothing would corrode or stay. FALSE!
We recently had done extensive remodeling on our home, even adding new appliances and fixtures. Everything is covered with serious white hard water spots and corrosion. Our dishwasher, which is only a year old, has to be serviced to get the build-up removed. Even my countertops, although we wipe them down continually, have to be scrubbed with Pink and that doesn't even solve the build-up hard water problem. It's almost worse with the filtration that before.
We've called multiple times, emailed, left messages, etc...The most we've been told is that someone will get back to us. We've even asked if there was an additional system to add that would help. We have yet to have anyone reach back out to us. Now, all we want is our money back and for them to remove the system so we can go with LifeSource. Whose ratings and referrals are better.

Rayne of San Jose supplied me a Pentair water softener rebranded as a Rayne. This is not unusual in the business. However they will not honor the Pentair OEM warranty. Pentair warranties their control valves for 5 years but Rayne limits their warranty on the same parts to 1 year.
After my initial installation failed due to a broken control valve, the replaced parts lasted 2 years and failed again. If I had purchased from a plumber, they would have honored the OEM warranty. But Rayne charged parts and labor for replacing the failed control valve.
Parts were not too expensive, but buyer beware - Raynes labor charge is $195/hour minimum which is also not covered by warranty. And good luck with transparency. The Rayne installer provided no receipt or invoice, no warranty, and no owners manual. Then it would not even work for the technician due to a failed control head. To make matters worse he started messing with my radiant floor heat controls, leaving pumps unplugged. So he left with no paperwork, no receipt for $2400 cost.
They couldn't come back for another month. Finally another control was installed. Still no paperwork, no warranty, no receipt. I have no idea what I bought, what model, no manual, no warranty. They assure me they have all the paperwork in their office and turned in the warranty info for me.
Then after 3.5 years the valve piston fails and I am charged for parts and labor $300. The standard warranty is 5 years, 7 years for better valves and lifetime if you are smart and buy one with ceramic disc and no piston. And now at 4 years, the piston has failed again, which means it gets stuck regenerating but can't finish the cycle. So water and salt are wasted.
Now it's another 3 weeks to get a service person out. Trust me, you can get a much better water softener on line, get knowledgeable phone help and use a local plumber. You will be satisfied with performance and get quick response with warranteed labor - as long as you do NOT expect that from Rayne. - MARY W.Los Gatos, CA046Jun 14, 2023
Boy, did Rayne send me a fantastic serviceman. Arthur showed up on time, clean, friendly, and he knew his job. Got right to it, and I believe he went the extra mile. Arthur ran into a small glitch, probably did not have to correct, I would not of known, but he said shorting the customer was not his work ethic. I like that in a serviceman. Thank you Rayne for hiring quality people. That is why you have been in business for so many decades. Thank you Arthur.

Our experience with Rayne has not been very good. Over the last 3 years, we have called them a few times for annual maintenance of our water filtering system and water softener system. There was only once, when an experience technician showed up that we were satisfied with (hence the 2 stars). Unfortunately cant say the same for the other technicians who have helped us out. Recently we asked them to change our broken water filter faucet. We paid $150 for the work + cost of faucet. It lasted 3 months and then fell apart. On contacting them, they expect me to pay full price for them to come to take a look at it? Apparently there labor is only guaranteed for 1 month. Really??

Had a great experience working with Rayne of SJ. From estimate through completion, they were prompt, reliable, and efficient. Installed new iron filter, water softener, and reverse osmosis system. Good folks to work with, could not be more pleased!

We moved into a house in Los Gatos recently. We love the house and the area, but the water is very hard. I contacted a few different suppliers for a hard water solution and only Rayne Water Conditioning of San Jose was able to present a final solution that met my needs: whole-house carbon filter, salt-based water softener without a drain (usually required) using portable exchange equipment, UV light filter, and under-sink osmosis drinking water filter.
Don, my sales expert understood my needs perfectly.
Installation was done well.
I am already working with Don again to install Rayne products for our old house before renting this property. Rayne Water Conditioning was recommended by my wife's co worker. He is known to be very thorough and my wife trust his recommendations. I couldn't be more happy with choosing Rayne. Firstly Dan was easygoing and easy to talk to. After placing the order, my wife and I changed our mind and decided to choose a different Rayne product. A simple text to Dan and it was done.
I received a confirmation call from Rayne the night before to set up the time bracket for installation. The day of, I received another call from Rayne to notify me that the technician was available to stop by earlier and if I'd be home. (Imagine that). Unfortunately I was still in route home and I couldn't arrive any sooner than the scheduled. Thoughtful of them nevertheless.
Like clockwork, Anthony the Rayne technician arrived. Mind you he was at my doorstep within a minute of the appointment. Anthony was quite friendly and professional. He explained the work that was to be done and asked if I had any questions. I didn't and went upstairs to let him work. Later my wife arrived home and he answered all her questions and when asked place the faucet in a particular location, he gladly installed it to without hesitation.
Anthony needed to stop by a local hardware store for supplies and he apologized for the inconvenience. Once he returned, again Anthony apologized for the delay (truly a professional). Ge completed the job, explained the functions. Rayne was kind enough to provide several bags of salt, and Anthony gave us a breakdown of the benefits of using a fine grained salt(easier dissolved) instead of a pellet salt.
To boot, Anthony said that if we have any issues with the system to call them first before a plumber. He said " we can come out to diagnose the problem first". Doing so would save us money in the event the problem is covered by the warranty.
