Do they do recycling here for cans, plastic, and bottles? I'm trying to get money back for recycling beverage containers

No, I just called and they are no longer taking plastic or cans. They told me to go to So. San Francisco!!

Wow! What an easy and great experience! I never knew that I could drop off so much cardboard and not have to pay! Once you drive through (which is a bit tough to figure out, but there are attendants to point you in the right direction) it's as simple as pie. Just throw your cardboard in a pile...amazing! Definitely do it after a big move. We were worried we'd have to fill our own recycling container for weeks and weeks but now we know! Everyone was friendly and helpful.

I'm looking to recycle cardboards. Went to 2 other places. No. And no. I yelped it. Found this place. Easy like the yelper said. Drive down and into warehouse. Drop your cardboard, and that is that. It's at the edge of nowhere. Quite interesting. Never been to these part of the woods.

You have to drive around the lot a bit, but it's very convenient and easy! Great place to drop off cardboard boxes, particle board, etc.

Completely negative experiences, for several reasons:

-- Despite their website and the sign outside the facility, they close at 11:45 AM on Saturdays, *not* 2 PM. We had to come back the following week. Normally I'd just be annoyed, except...

-- Despite what they say on their website, they *do not* accept thin film plastics and plastic bags. We had four large bags full of the stuff and they told us it was garbage without even looking inside.

-- Completely unprofessional staff. The guy told me what my wife and I had brought was garbage, and rudely told me off for wasting time and money ("do you know how much gas it costs to get out here?"). Then he proceeded to joke about how mad my wife must be (she was right next to me) and that we should at least drop off the cardboard we had so I could partially "redeem" myself. While we were unloading it he told my wife she could throw her pieces to "get [her] frustrations out".

Needless to say, he exacerbated my wife's mood and now I gotta watch what I say about recycling for the next few weeks.

So I applied for commercial plates on my vehicle and was required to weigh my truck. I was told to go to a California Weigh Master and that they didn't have a list to avoid favoritism. I get it but google gave me locations in Fremont and down south some where inconvenient.

But with some research, I found that this Recology location was a certified California Weigh Master and did the job PERFECTLY.

Be advised that it was a bit of a time to find but IS located on Pier 96 Recology property.

THEY ONLY ACCEPT CASH $15 for weighing your vehicle.

It was fast and easy and so painless. But it did feel weird to line up behind all the Garbage trucks to get weighed. Dump truck, dump truck, my small truck, dump truck, etc....

Be aware that no one picks up the phone there, so just show up with Cash and your DMV paperwork and you'll be fine to weigh your car/vehicle.

I needed to recycle some old paint so I dropped it off at recology. When I got there the signs were very confusing and the address isn't at 501 Tunnel. It's a little past there. I drove in to the driveway and was kind of lost so an employee came out of his truck to direct me and he also led me to the area that I needed to go to. There were many employees there to greet me and help me off load the paint. I never had to get out of the car. I only had to fill out a form that took a minute and I was on my way. Super easy, like going to McDonalds' drive through.

      First to Review

This is one of those random reviews that has nothing to do with the actual purpose of the company, but it proves incredibly useful if you're in my situation.

West Coast Recycling happens to carry the distinction of being one of the only California Certified Weighmaster located in San Francisco.

      Why is that important?

Well, if you're an out of state fool who still insists on the ownership of a pickup (because it has gotten you and your friends to so many wonderful camping spots), then registering it in California is incredibly complicated if you live in San Francisco.

This is where West Coast Recycling comes in.
All pickups or load carrying vehicles are automatically classified as commercial vehicles and must be WEIGHED in the state of CA. Unfortunately, the otherwise helpful staff of the San Francisco DMV office have no idea where you are supposed to weigh your vehicle. Don't get me wrong, they were more than willing to try to find somewhere in the city limits, but most of the weighmasters they'll point you to are in places like Tahoe, or San Jose and gas costing what it does, that's just an unnecessary trip.

A little bit of personal investigation and remembering that the SF Dump weighed my truck (I'm required by conscience to help friends move things), led me to call the City dump who kindly referred me to West Coast Recycling.

So, for $10 dollars and a few minutes time, I can now safely register my vehicle in the state of California.

Today was my favoritest day at work of the whole year.

Once a year, and once a year only, when the old fiscal period closes and the new begins, it is MY responsibility to purge the office's file cabinets of 7 year-old confidential documents and have them all destroyed.

You didn't know? The title "Administrative Assistant" is really codename for my real position, "TOP SECRET SUPER-SHREDDING AGENT."

Many lives depend on my mission. But ssssshhhh, that's between friends.

Seriously, I wait all year long for this day. Like a bright-eyed, bushy-tailed child on Christmas morning, my adrenaline pumps for the long-awaited present of watching 125 lbs of paper being dropped into a giant, razor-sharp machine and grinded to a measly pulp.

In preparation for my mission, I call my good friend Efrain at West Coast Recycling, located only on the outermost peripheries of land and time (aka, India Basin). My business already has an account with Sunset Scavenger, so they just bill us later for the whole $30 it costs to shred 100 pounds or less of paper (I think it's usually an additional 10 cents per extra lb, but if you're supersecret-cool like me you'll get cut a deal). I set up a time before 2 pm on a Monday-Friday to bring in my documents, and at T minus zero I get to witness the pulverization myself for added caution and good measure.

A few days from now, I will receive a certificate of destruction in the mail, proving the authenticity and success of my operation.

*Sigh* It's a tough job, but someone's gotta do it.

Until next year's assignment, friends, which I patiently await ...

Thanks to Zack L's review it helped us find this place for my husband to register his vehicle from out of state. He turned in his plates and the DMV basically said he needs to weigh his car because it's a commercial vehicle. Even though it's not. The DMV basically told him to google weigh scale which was of no help. So I yelped it and found this place.

Called to get directions but my husband said it was definitely confusing and somewhat hard to find.

Google maps couldn't find it by the west coast name for some reason.

The directions the lady at the company gave was:
      Pier 96,
Take 280 north to Caesar Chavez exit,
Take right lane to 3rd street.
      Make right at 3rd.
2 blocks. ( 3 traffic lights) is Cargo Way.
Cargo way is the street on left , make left.
Drive 4 blocks then hit a dead end street .
      Street name is Jennings.
Make a left and you will see Recology.
      You're there.

Think they are open 6am on weekdays. They close at 5pm but cut the line off at 4:30pm.

      $15 to weigh your vehicle.

Recommend it to those who need to weigh their out of state vehicle.
