Seeking a place you could potentially find en la Republica Dominicana, try Republica in the Inwood/ Washington Heights, NY area. I saw the mixed YELP reviews. My experience was a positive one. After having our bags checked at the door, I went to the rooftop sector with friends for appetizers and drinks, and all were very good and nicely presented. Get ready to climb. The dessert we ordered for the table was creative. The service was good, too, and the vibe was nice for a Thursday afterwork. The food could have been served warmer. The music was cool and so was the view of the area and decor of the restaurant. Our server was friendly, easy-going, and attentive. They also had busers and backup staff working. The place was not packed but had a good #number of patrons both inside and outside. Customers from different groups enjoy a lovely time and good Dominican fushion food at this venue. There was a live DJ playing latin music inside. Some people were smoking hookah. For nonsmokers like us, the fumes were not a bother, had good ventilation, plus the weather was really nice outside (not too hot or cold). HAPPY HOUR was a ++. Finding convenient street parking was a challenge. Close to a train, bus, indoor parking lot, and a highway.

Went back to Republica for a friends b day... we sat on the rooftop the food was great! I had a whole snapper it was seasoned well! My friends also thought their food was good. But the downside was when I first got to Republica and ordered a Casamigo with pineapple I was charged $30..... THIRTY AMERICAN DOLLARS FOR ONE DRINK! I think the waiter jipped me because when I went back for drinks later that night though it was Hennessy the drinks were about $15.

Came for a colleague's bday brunch. It was definitely a vibe. 1st floor is the entrance. When you walk up the first flight of stairs DJ will be playing Spanish music. We opted to go to the 3rd floor/rooftop . Dj there was playing a variety / Caribbean beats. Decor was eye catching. For brunch special, you get your choice of bottomless sangria or mimosas (interchangeable). Next you will each choose one item off their breakfast brunch and then one item off their lunch brunch menus. Music was blasting and it was filled with great convo. Server was very attentive and made the experience enjoyable. The French toast, tres golpes (traditional Dominican breakfast) were good. The Chimi sandwich I ended up taking to-go. I will say for that item it was a bit on the dry side probably would try a different item next time

The place is a vibe. I came in since I was in the area to check it out. I sat on the rooftop on a Sunday evening, some people were just ending brunch. The cocktails here are unique and fun to order. If you're in the area, check this spot out.

uplThe Drinks were an amazing, love the different ways they served, totally an experience to say the least. Our meal was delicious no complaints at all. Service was awesome all around, he was very helpful on helping us to decide what to order. They have Hookah is you are into that. This place is a whole vibe and definitely a place to visit even in the cold winter as their rooftop is covered. Definitely recommend to visit and I can't wait to go back.

I came here super hungry from work. I took a chance after reading the reviews! TIP IS INCLUDED IN CHECK! I only ordered food and drinks off their Happy Hour menu that is $6.
Margarita: very very very cheap liquor, Applebee's does a better job on their $6 margarita.
Tacos: When I bite into it it tasted kinda sweet; they add sweet plantain in it to make it stretch! Slick! They wasn't bad but nothing to ride home about, the sweetness ruins it for me.
Chimi Burgers aka sliders: Didn't come out hot and I was too hungry to send them back. And the bread was kinda hard! SKIP!
      Wings: They were aiight!

The service was aiight! Juan (my server) never checked on me you just have to flag him down when you can. The food didn't take long to come out.

Ambiance: I came because it's a rooftop restaurant (why did I think I will have some views?). Let me tell you now the only view you getting is Chase Bank, Burger King and construction. I was disappointed. It's also a hookah lounge and folks bring they kids (spoiled kids that throw tantrums and run around lol) to hookah smh EARLY too!! I don't smoke so I will neverrrr come here late.

Will I come back here you ask? Maybe because the have a app+entree+drink for $30. I am working on University Ave so it's quick to get here on the 1 train so I will check out the $30 combo. Will have a follow up review!

No, I would not recommend to my friends. This place will be my dirty little secret.

Arrived 6pm Sunday evening. The host was so attentive and nice to us downstairs and we were directed upstairs to the rooftop and they were nice as well. Our server was great, we had great drinks definitely recommend and I love a place that has lychee martinis. My sisters and I enjoyed our meals I enjoyed the salmon and the mash was seasoned. My sister had stuffed chicken which was great too. The hookah was okay and overall first time experience was great.

The ambiance was nice, a little chill here and there but the heat did what needed to be done.

I usually come here on a Saturday night for loynge area for drinking and dancing but recently Came here on a Sunday with my girls for brunch on the rooftop. John was the most amazing waiter, he made sure we were well taken care of and was kind and attentive. We had some minor inconveniencewith some of our food and the manager gave us a generous discounton our bill and a shot of tequila on the house. That'sexcellent customer service., 10/10 for food and service. After our brunch we went downstairs to lounge area for a little bit before going home.. Will definitely return in spring for the floral decor.

So decided to try this place out saw it on IG and it look wonderful! But once there I wasn't sure what the hype was about. We were a group of 5 . Now I must say the drinks were fancy and they did taste good the LOVEBIRD comes in the cute bird shape cup and you drink out the ass ! Lol classic . The next drink was DULCE CORAZON serve in this pretty box . There was another drink that came in like a pineapple cup now that was delish . Skip
To the food I will say I've had better so for appetizers MOFONGUITOS were dry. I will say LA BANDERA GOURMET which is stuffed chicken now that was good lol . The RIB EYE STEAK was also order by most at the table and the presentation was beautiful, but the taste wasn't all that. Needless to say, the place is overpriced and traveling all the way from PA to NYC to try this place. I think it was not worth it and definitely will not be going back.

Birthday 2023 merriment call upon after-work phlegmatic disposition on a Monday evening with a colleague. While in transit of our travels for a pub many restaurants/ pubs we observed many are now victims of the COVID-19 pandemic and plaguing economic inflation challenge; ergo, we opt for Republica in Washington Heights. The environment appeared to be sporadic occupied with patrons, but noticeably empty for a Monday evening. The rooftop view of Republica is street level scenery of Dyckman Street which is absolutely nothing to be enthusiastic. There is a live DJ available depending on the day of the week and events scheduled.

While my party of two are not Dominican of Latin persuasion, thus, the inevitable difference in customer service was very visible for inhospitable nonchalant and apathetic. Republica has three floors of dining space including rooftop lounge and seating with a rooftop cover for protection against the elements. Hookah is available for patrons who are inclined (absolutely, no thank you for me). Happy Hour is available, but very limited options. We both decided on two glasses of Pinot Noir, white wine at $8.00 each. It was served nicely chilled and propensity to detox my stress and high anxiety. Overall, I was not elated.

Note: This business is not ADA accessible for patrons with mobility issues. Stairs are the only method as access for vertical movement of this three floor business including rooftop area.
