Messaged around midnight the day before, and he was out to diagnose a non-functioning AC unit by lunchtime. Was able to diagnose the problem quickly, realized it was an electrical issue and not an HVAC issue, and pointed me to exactly what to fix at my breaker panel to get the unit up and running. One trip to the hardware store and $10 later (instead of a very high quote for full system replacement that other contractors had provided) AC was back up and running! Not to mention, he refused any payment for the visit!

Truly a great operation and I will be calling Ricos again for HVAC service in the future

In the middle of the Sacramento heat wave, my HVAC went out at 7:30 PM. I called several companies and they were all either unavailable or had an answering service that was less than useful. When I called Rico's Heating and Air, Cesar, the owner answered and was amazingly polite and helpful. He was out to dinner but I explained I had a baby at home and was concerned how hot it was going to get overnight. He was at my door in only 30 minutes and triaged and fixed the problem (capacitor replacement) within another 30 minutes. I've had multiple interactions with the larger HVAC companies with over 800 reviews and most of these companies will not attempt to triage any problem and say you need a replacement almost reflexively. At the end of the day, the decision isn't between the Trane, Bosch, Mitubishi, etc system. It's finding someone that is honest, hardworking, and straightforward. We need more people like Cesar in this world. Would highly recommend this company for your HVAC needs.

Saturday morning with anticipated 106 today, 99 tomorrow and triple digits most of next week. The air conditioning stoped working! Rico's showed they were closed today but he answered and said he'd be here in 20 minutes. He was here in 15. He evaluated the issue, explained what was needed and then went for parts. The whole process took about an hour and we are now cooling down. . . . Thankfully!!! Extremely polite, pleasant and number 1 on our future call list. $$ was more than fair.

They busted up my subfloor and tried to piece it together with broken pieces of wood.
Tried to charge tax on labor
They installed a wall air return cover on the floor and when I went to step on it my foot went through it

Last night, our heat stopped working. I texted Cesar around 3:30am & he responded quickly. We made an appointment for 3pm, but he was in the area & said he could come by earlier. He swung by, I explained what was wrong, & he fixed a dirt plugged pipe right away (my fault for forgetting to contact him sooner for normal maintenance!). Great service, per usual/the norm. Thank you Cesar!

I'm with the zero star option if it was possible. The company was recommended to us by a friend. We asked them to balance our system because one side of the house was always much hotter in summer and colder in winter. The owner (name is not Rico) came in, worked on it, and assured us it had been fixed and was totally balanced. We were having other work done so couldn't test ATM. We paid around $2,500 for the work. Once the other work was far enough along that we could run it (and it was like 102 F outside) we turned it on and if anything IT WAS EVEN WORSE. We were having a heat wave and one side of the house got almost no cool air and was probably 90 degrees inside in late afternoon and the other side was so cold I couldn't walk near the vents without shivering. We called him back in. He wouldn't talk to me (wife) only my husband. If I asked a question he would turn and answer my husband. He sent another guy out who said he fixed it again and then ran for his truck before we even knew he had left. We tested it again and now it was EVEN WORSE in that the cold side was no longer getting cold and the warm side was even hotter.

Our contractor finally went up and inspected, and they had left one vent run completely unattached so that it was conditioning the attic space. The runs had no rhyme or reason. Our contractor went up and using simple common sense rearranged and changed the sizes of some of the venting, and now it's perfect.

Also installed a wall vent at quite an angle - wasn't parallel to anything (nothing anyone could live with) and left it like that was acceptable work. Had to make him fix that too. I may have a picture that I will post if I can locate it.

I say run from this sexist, incompetent business and never look back. Thank me for writing this review and helping you dodge a bullet.

Came back into town and noticed our a/c was blowing air, but not cold air! Called around to various companies in the Arden-Arcade area, and no one was able to do same-day service.
Called Cesar with Ricos Heating & Air, and he picked up right away! He was able to come by in less than 15 minutes after I called, and immediately took a look at our unit out back.
He was able to determine the problem was due to a bad capacitor, and had all the parts needed in his truck already! He also replaced a part of a wire that was burnt out while replacing the capacitor.
He was quick, knowledgeable, professional, and very fairly priced!
Super glad to have found him and his business! I will definitely be calling him again for annual maintenance and future needs!

Would have loved a ZERO star option.
Called with an AC problem. Was told the consultation was free, I even questioned that because most companies have a charge to take a look and provide a quote, but if you use them they apply that fee to the total bill. I was told NO Charge. A LIE.
Was charged just under $100 for the "free estimate", which I challenged but paid: lesson learned and now passed on to you.
The quote was very expensive compared to other company's. Was happy to go with another provider that proved to be honest and professional.

Nothing but good things to say.

Called Thursday, installed new unit on Friday. Quoted $15,000 and $11,500 by two other places, Rico's came in at under $9000 including taxes, including the crane.

They took a credit card as well!

No service issues to date so I can't comment on how that goes.

Good company with professional people installing hvac .family owned small company with great quality job

Our A/C died yesterday afternoon. It was 104 degrees outside. I called Rico's and got scheduled for today (Saturday). I didn't expect that. Juan came here and diagnosed 3 issues and repaired our system. Friendly, prompt, professional service. It's 105 this afternoon, but 72 inside! I am delighted.
