Peruvian cuisine is delicious. The traditional dishes are a masterpiece of balance between ingredients. Every time I visit a Peruvian restaurant I asked for the classic ceviche peruano. It's the best thermometer to know if the place is authentic.
Rockoto has an amazing ceviche. The leche de Tigre is really amazing. They give it a twist adding basil that works really good.
We also ordered our two favorite entrees lomo saltado and chaufa combo.
The lomo saltado is good, very tender meat but it's the first time I eat one that taste heavily with cumin. Not my favorite version of lomo saltado but it was good. It was served warm and that changes the flavors dramatically.
The chaufa combo with beef pork and chicken was amazing. Served at perfect temperature. The flavors were really good creating an amazing balanced fish.
What we were more
Impressed about was the rockoto sauce. Amazing flavor. It totally makes the chaufa come to life.
The place is very open, high ceiling, simple decor and open kitchen. Our waiter was really helpful and super nice.
Cost benefit I think is really good. Give it a try. Next time will ask for the paella. It sounds amazing.

Umm I completely forgot to take a picture of my food. I got the pollada which kinda threw me off cause of the description. Wasn't sure if it was pollo a la brasa or pollada. Huge respect to the waiter who knew what he was talking about and knew the menu.
The food was delicious - we wished we had more. The pollada was the right consistency flavor wise. The 2 notes I would add is the chicken was a bit bigger cause it seemed like a small/skinny version of the chicken. Also, I would slice the potatoes and fry them or bake as supposed to the small potatoes.
The lomo was amazing. My husband and kid really enjoyed it.
The chicha was perfection. Not sure if this is a new place, there wasn't much people at the restaurant but it did take awhile to get the check and also get out of there since we were waiting.Helpful 1Thanks 1Love this 1Oh no 0 - Jody N.Oakland, CA032Aug 29, 2024Seated via Yelp Reservations
The food was delicious. 2 of us ordered the filet mignon. The sauce was delicious, I had it on top of mashed potatoes. Perfect combination. My friend had the salmon which came with mussels, calamari and prawns. She loved hers too. I asked for a small salad and even though it was a simple
Salad the flavors were perfect with a lovely vinaigrette. Definitely worth checking it out.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Aug 3, 20241 check-in
Even though I am currently stuffed from eating lunch here, I am already planning my second trip back to Rockoto. Every single thing we ordered was delicious. I couldn't decide what dish I liked more than the other. Good food, good drinks, good service, and good vibes! Chef's kiss!

Great service and great food. Both dishes we ordered were very flavorful. Even though we were so full, we still couldn't stop eating till we finished both plates, completely empty. The waiter was very nice and helpful. We even got a appetizer on the house. I would definitely want to come back.

This strip of restaurants has some of the tastiest food I've had here in South San Francisco. Rockoto was no different. We came here on cold Tuesday night and it was pretty empty inside. It's a little off the main strip so maybe that's why. Decor was minimal but overall fine.
The man helping us was very nice and helpful. He recommend the Mushroom Empanadas and Salmon a Lo Macho to us so of course we had to try both. The mushroom empanadas were fine to me but the rest of the group I came with really enjoyed it. Even mentioning it might've been their favorite from our week long trip. I might've been too full to completely enjoy it. The Salmon a Lo Macho was great. The flavors are not as bold as you'd think off the color of this plate. It has a more subtle taste and really lets the seafood do the talking. All the meats were cooked well. No dry or chewy pieces at all.
Overall, it was a good spot for us to try. It was my first time tasting Peruvian food and I really enjoyed it!Helpful 1Thanks 1Love this 3Oh no 0 - Eric B.San Francisco, CA260129May 19, 2024Updated review
This place has amazing Peruvian foods their ceviche is so delicious and their Lomo Saltado is super flavorful.
We went on a Friday at 5 PM and it wasn't busy. It isn't a fancy place, but the food is delicious.Helpful 1Thanks 1Love this 2Oh no 0Sep 7, 2023Previous reviewThis is a 4.5 star review!
Overall this place was great. Has only been open for about 9 months, first time trying the restaurant tonight. Flavor was so good. The Lomo Saltado rice could have been better, but not too much to gripe about. Ceviche flavors were delicious and the fish was soft and satiable, not stringy or chewy at all! We're definitely going to come back.
We had the following:
Lomo Saltado
Rockoto Trio
Mushroom Empanadas
Taro Chips
Glass of Sangria (really like 2 glasses it was so full)
Dessert:
Leche Asada
Tres Leches
2 cappuccinos
Total bill with tax came to about $124.00 before tips. - Mar 6, 2024
I came here for dinner, and it was quite empty! It's really spacious, though, and the workers are pretty nice. I ordered the chaufa with chicken, and my dish was pretty mid. My husband ordered the lomo saltado, and this was really really salty! My food was on the salty side, too, but not as bad as his. My quest for the perfect Peruvian restaurant is still on!

This place is fairly new but with great delicacies from Peru the atmosphere is quite inviting with great music to transform you into the life of South america. The food is very tasteful and I invite you all to come and enjoy this wonderful place. Plate ordered was anticuchos and very tasty the service is awesome and they have a complete bar available for your tasting.

Had such a fantastic experience the first time around that I decided to come back to Rockoto Peruvian so my husband could also experience it for himself. I was craving their ceviche classico and sangria and ordered those off the bat. Both were just as delicious as I remembered it. We also decided to get an order of their pork belly anticucho (skewers), which were AMAZING. The pork was super fatty and full of flavor and came with a side salad and some yummy dippy sauce and lemon wedges. We also split a main of the churrasco criollo which comes smothered in an au jus gravy with delicious salted boiled and salted potatoes on the side. I'm salivating now just typing out this review.
Even though we were already stuffed after these few dishes, we couldn't say no to getting a plate of Peruvian flan for dessert. A light and refreshing vanilla bean and custard tart topped with thick whipped cream and a maraschino cherry on top, it was the perfect ending to an already delicious meal.

Feb 6, 2023Previous reviewOne word: ceviche. I came here for dinner to catch up with an old colleague. Since you don't see a lot of Peruvian restaurants in this area, and Rockoto had some great Yelp reviews already, we decided to give this place a try. This place did not disappoint at all. Like I mentioned, you absolutely need to give their ceviche a try when coming in. Super fresh with the perfect balance of acidics and herbs, I probably could have had 2-3 plates of this to myself. It doesn't come with a side though, so make sure to order chips to go with the meal.
We also gave their mushroom empanadas a try and then split their salmon entree as well. Everything was delicious - the empanadas were nicely fried and were little pastry pillows, and the salmon was tender and juicy served over a savory bed of rice. I had also ordered a glass of red wine to have on the side and I have to say, they are quite generous with their pours here.
All in all, definitely a 5 star experience and I can't wait to bring some more of my friends and family here!
