Safeway

My review is for the excellent customer service I received while getting my Covid shot and flu shot at the pharmacy.
I was greeted by a very sweet young lady named Isis who answered my questions and was was so polite and professional. She told what to expect, how long the wait was going to be (10 min to draw up shot, print our forms and enter our information) and showed us how to get to the waiting room.
I was met by new pharmacist Quinn who explained very throughly the shots I would be getting. He then injected the shots painlessly. When done,
I was then instructed to go out and get a coupon for 10% off for each vaccine. Who doesn't want money off groceries.
All in all a very nice experience with 2 caring employees.

Crappy service. Not enough check out lines open when there is 30 people waiting.

It is all the products we want but just takes to long to check out. The only had two working checkouts open.

This store did a horrible job during COVID-19. Now that the global pandemic is somewhat behind us, the store generally meets expectations. Unlike so many other stores, there aren't any vagrants living on the sidewalk outside. And I didn't witness shoplifting. Unfortunately, that just earns you three stars these days.

They were out of most of their dairy products.

Prices are high, especially compared to TJ's next door; the trend of grocery prices creeping higher and higher is concerning, to say the least. Also, they need to put in more checkers. They are trying to normalize having ~2 human checkers (when there are like 12 checkout aisles available), at the expense of the customer's time. Not ok. Support TJ's or other shops, where sane prices and service are still a thing.

Safeway store is clean and organized, similar to other locations within the grocery chain. I usually stop by for their fried chicken at the hot foods counter and various types of breads/pastries/donuts they make from their bakery. Today, I was happy to discover multigrain croissants! Tried one and it was better than expected - still had the nice buttery croissant flavor and decent flakiness to it, despite being more dense due to the multigrain flour and seeds it is made out of. I hope this becomes a regular item they bake.

What I most appreciate about Safeway is that most locations like this one, are a designated spot where you can bring your plastic film recycling (clean cling wrap, plastic wrap, plastic packaging) to drop off. The bin is located next to their regular recycling, compost, and trash bins by the entrance .

In this store, I have always found what I'm looking for rather easily. Also, the fruit in this store seems to be a little fresher than other stores, in my opinion. Or maybe I just come once they have restocked.

Located in the Alameda South Shore Shopping Center, there's plenty of parking here, and they also have the Safeway gas station available.

Safeway at South Shore Alameda is pretty legit. Found everything I needed, especially all that keto stuff, and zipped in and out without a hitch. Self-checkout was a breeze - no line! Even snagged a sweet parking spot. Gotta say, prices aren't low, but for the convenience and selection, it's worth it. Definitely making this spot my go-to for shopping. Solid 4 stars!

Quick and easy to grab some sushi from the deli - No waiting and on my way in a few minutes. The sushi wasn't bad either. 2 rolls for $8.

Sometimes it just blows my mind when I realize that I have not written a Yelp review on a place I frequent often.

Quality/Quantity -
Hit or miss. This was our favorite location, not sure if there were management changes in the past...? But their out of stock conditions have increased.

We/I shop here often because I like my food fresh.
But if they are out of stock often, then I have to stock up, which I prefer not to do, especially with my travel schedules.

This location also has all the departments, so it is a one stop shop including a gas station and US Bank.
Lastly, there is a Trader Joe's next door, which is again a one stop shop.

Atmosphere - Huge, well kept location.
Plenty of easy mall parking.
Open 7 days a week from 5am to 2pm (please update Yelp hours, you still have your Thanksgiving hours posted).

Service - Okay, not good or bad.

Price - Reasonable.

In 2015, Albertsons purchased Safeway.

Trying to find a good time to come into store. It seems like every time I come in I get blocked in isles by employees either stocking, picking orders and or cleaning. I understand that all this needs to be done but I am tired of them blocking me in isles and getting me so frustrated that I cannot finish my shopping
