      I'm a dude with long hair, although I have never really had long hair before. I'm used to going to a barber, or just buzzing it myself - the folks at Salon Avalon really helped me to figure out what to do without feeling self-conscious about it.

      Ashley has been helping me out and I look forward to visiting again!

      Okay... I found this Salon through the robust ads they run. This place is diamond in the rough. I had a small problem being charged twice, but no biggie. The owner was very kind and corrected the mistake. My daughter and I went here for first time and were amazed at the level of enthusiasm and friendliness we were met with as we walked through the door. The Stylists were very accurate and did great detailed work on both of us. The receptionist was kind and offered my daughter a snack and water. My daughter Stylist was super sweet in telling my daughter that she was lucky to have me as a Mom and that I love her very much. Aw, pull on my heart strings.... My stylist worked magic using four colors to correct my blonde and a beautiful toner. I will definitely be back! Hats off to Salon Avalon!

      I had my hair cut and colored by Elena. It turned out better than I hoped for. Before and after pics are attached.
      I go to her regularly for a haircut and my hair always looks amazing afterwards. She does fantastic work!

      As a first time guest, I was pleased with the welcoming customer service and the work of getting highlights performed by Ashley. I had previously been going to a salon in Walnut Creek but after 2 failed services I wanted to explore other stylists. But it took me at least a year until I stumbled upon Salon Avalon. I yelped and had read many reviews and final came upon this quaint little salon across my favorite eatery, urban plates. I never expected much but after reading reviews and desperate for a new stylists I said why not. Ashley had many positive reviews and a couple samples of her work and I felt she could do the job. I called up the salon and it ended up being Ashley herself. I booked an appointment and since this was my first time to be a client I was asked to put down a $100 deposit. No problem. I forgot to send her samples of my hair so I decided to arrive early. Ashley was so sweet, welcoming and professional. She listened to my concerns and took consideration of what I wanted to achieve. No problem. She was a great listener and personable. Conversations with her were like talking to your best friend. She started working on root touch up and lightening my hair. She was gentle and didn't leave me bored under the dryer as my hair lightened. When it got to the part of toning, she knew exactly was to do that with my dark hair as I didn't have any brassy orange undertone of colors.

      As far as the area, There's plenty of parking around the street and also behind the shop. The location is fantastic as there are just so many tasty food places to eat after. The salon appeared clean and no clutter, plus I saw they use brand products like Wella. I loved the camaraderie with Ashley and I love the end product of my hair. There was no damage after lightening and it was just a great experience. The salon had a cool simple vibe. Very girl next door and there were also other pleasant staff beside Ashley. I didn't get the other 2 girls names there, the receptionist and other stylist but I wanted to note, that they were just as talented and nice. The other female stylist that was there, she does a very nice job styling hair as I saw her work on 2 little girls hair and an adult. Very professional. Thank you for a fun experience. I'll definitely return and am so happy. Thanku.

      Had a bad haircut here the other day that left me feeling awful.
      The owner reached out and not only offered to have one of his talented stylists fix my hair but also offered to comp the next haircut until my hair grows out.

      This salon is sub par with a list of mediocre stylists. I tried a few and this review is for my least favorite SHABNAM. Appointments with her are filled with constant backhanded compliments and the need for you to constantly fuel her ego with compliments.

      She also has absolutely no respect for your time. I would schedule appointments with her months in advance and on two separate occasions, she decides that she is going to share my time slot with some other last minute client. The first time this happened to me she had a consultation right before my appointment and the client decided she wanted to move forward with a hair color. Instead of scheduling her a future appointment, I was fortunate enough to share my time slot with her. When I arrived at my appointment, I had to wait over 40 mins before she even started on me. The next time this happened to me was when she decides she wants to squeeze her mom in during my appt. Again, I had to sit around and wait.

      If you aren't sharing an appt with someone, the day of your appointment she will text you nonstop to either come in earlier or later depending on how her schedule is. For example, if her prior appt ends earlier or later, she will badger you until you accommodate her schedule by coming in earlier or later than your scheduled appt.

      The last few times I went to see her, I tried to avoid any conversation with her and brought my laptop in to work. She generally talks about herself half the time, praising how great she is at what she does. The other half, she finds ways to insult you but laughs it off thinking that makes it ok. For example she made a recommendation on a hair product that I should purchase and after I declined, she decided to tell me that I was cheap. Her other favorite line is to explain to you how bad your hair was before you found her.

      The last time and final time I went to see her, she was her usual narcissistic self. This time however, after she made an insult, I made a joke right back. After leaving the salon, she sent me a text telling me that I am not welcomed back. Can you believe the nerve? She can dish it out but you can't say anything to her without offending her. I can assure you that what I said was the farthest from offensive or disrespectful which makes this even crazier. I am completely fine with the outcome and was planning on leaving this salon but I was really flabbergasted at her unprofessional behavior. I'm attaching a copy of the text to show what a nut case she is.

      Friends, there are so many normal, hormonally balanced stylists out there. Please avoid the drama and go somewhere else.

      A long overdue, but well deserved 5 star review for Ashley! I have been coming to Ashley for 7+ years and I'll never go to anyone else! Ashley is a talented stylist and takes such good care with my hair during my appointments. I have long hair, and a lot of it, so it is a lengthy process to color and cut it. She never rushes, takes her time, and makes sure it's perfect before I leave. She is always prompt at my appointment and flexible on booking.

      Ashley is fun, so friendly, sweet and makes the hair appointments enjoyable! We can chit chat the whole time and the appointment flies by!

      The salon itself is clean, spacious and always has good music playing.

      I get so many compliments on my hair and I owe it all to Ashley :) If you're looking for a great colorist and stylist, definitely book with her!

      This was for an appointment back in March 2023.

      I said I was not going to leave a review, but have had a few months to mull it over and decided I need to share my experience.

      I have had 3 BAD hair experiences in the past 3 years. Each time I had to wait a year to grow my hair out because of the botch jobs from each. This salon was no exception!

      I was looking for a longer a-line cut with the back being stacked. I had pictures of models and my very own pic from a few years ago for reference.

      I put out a Project request to Yelp with details on my hair trauma and what I was looking for.

      I received 3 responses. Salon Avalon was the first to respond with action. I called them to talk about what I was looking for and was assured they had someone who could do my cut. They were expert in pixie's and could handle my request.

      The problem I have is that they required a deposit for the appointment. Putting the burden of insuring their compensation over my experience and working with me to ensure I had the experience I requested.

      I paid the deposit and waited for the day of my appointment.

      On the day, I was called to reschedule to a later time because the stylist was running behind. I was livid! I told the receptionist that I was concerned that the stylist was going to rush my cut because they were backed up. I also reiterated my 3 hair trauma experiences and I needed to know honestly that I was not going to have the same experience with their stylist and their salon.

      The receptionist was a young woman who really sounded apathetic and didn't care about the client at all.

      I ignored the 2nd red flag and went in for my appointment.

      I spoke with the stylist and explained in detail what I wanted AND I showed her ALL the pictures!

      She said she understood. I am blind without my glasses, so I just closed my eyes when I took them off and trusted her after our detailed conversation.

      When she was done, she didn't even offer me to use a mirror to look at my cut from all 360 angles.

      I was furious and confronted her about the cut and that she gave me a super thinned out weird bob and not the a-line cut I asked for.

      The other stylist there came out and TRIED to tell me that it was a language barrier (Russian/Ukraine). I told her NO. I showed her PICTURES! The visual examples, including MY OWN from before covers any language confusion!

      I told them to keep my deposit, but that this was NOT okay! The stylist just swept up and didn't apologize. She made excuses.

      Great Clips or Supercuts would have done better!

      This Salon is more about the $$$ than it is about the client and the experience.
