A great burger spot nestled in the hills of San Mateo, right off Hwy 92. We came during lunch time on a Saturday and got seated right away. You. The menu is fairly simple, burgers with a few additions to each one, ranging from bacon or onion ring added on.

I ordered the all American burger with an Oreo shake and a side of onion rings. The burger was cooked perfectly, and I really enjoyed the fact it's cooked over flame! Can't beat that flavor. The onion rings are made in house and were a perfect complement to the burger. I pigged out and finished off with an Oreo shake, delicious! They have a house made "Sal's sauce" that comes on every burger. I recommend getting some on the side to use for your fries or onion rings!

The staff was friendly and attentive. They checked on us a few times during our meal which was appreciated. Will definitely be back!

I've heard so much about this place recently and planned on trying one day, then my girlfriend said the most amazing words one hear while being on a diet "I'm craving a burger" so we decided to check out Sal's.

Unfortunately it was about 7:45 and they close at 8p, my girlfriend suggested we call and I admittedly thought the process was doomed and began looking whilst containing a tantrum cause I just knew we weren't going to make it on time. Well, thank God for a woman's wisdom because the person she spoke to said they'll keep the grill on for us if we can get there by 8:05p. As we start heading over we received a call back in five minutes and the restaurant asked if we had a chance to look at the menu and if we'd like for them to start our order. We definitely had our order ready and it made the pickup that much more convenient for both parties.

We made it right at 8p, the restaurant was easy to find and there is ample parking spaces (even during operating hours). When I went inside I was very warmly greeted and asked if were the ones that called. It turned out his family owns the business and he very appreciative of the support. I told him I heard a lot about the place and I have high expectations, and I can honestly tell you that Sal's exceeded those expectations. The burger and Fries were the best I've had in the Bay Area the past few years. The quality of the Ingredients and perfectly utilized seasonings complement the soft bun it sits between. The burger patty was cooked to perfection, with just enough crisp while being juicy and flavorful with each bite. I think it's safe to say my girlfriend and I have found our new cheat meal place, or we might just damn well break our diet, Sal's is worth it. So go support a delicious local business and harass them to stay open at least an hour later

This spot was amazing. Fully halal menu for those with dietary restrictions. The service was some of the best service I've ever had. The young guy working was super attentive, brought everything to our table, and was so kind when one of the kids on our table dropped the glass of strawberry lemonade and the glass shattered. He cleaned it up right away and brought another one out in a plastic cup. The food came out quick and fresh and there's a cool vibe with both indoors and outdoors seating.

As for the food, it was just too good. I have to go back to try some of the items I couldn't try the first time. I highly recommend the Cowboy burger, you have to try the onion rings, and you have to try the strawberry lemonade. The SF Patty Melt was super delicious but you have to eat it fresh or else the bread starts to harden. I'd also try the Philly Cheesesteak. Next time I'll have to try the buffalo chicken fries, wings, and maybe the grilled chicken sandwich.

You have to check this place out, you won't be disappointed.

      1 check-in

Habibi this place is halal! So nice to see a burger place that has halal bacon! I usually have to say "no bacon please" at every place I go to but this was so cool to experience! Obviously, I ordered the cowboy which had bacon and an onion ring! If im gonna do it, I'm going all out!

Holy smokes... this place is delicious! The flavor profile on that patty was perfect! The sweet and tangy bbq sauce balanced the saltines of the patty and the onion ring gave everything a really nice crunch!

The star of the show wasn't my cowboy burger though, my sister in law ordered the patty melt and it was oooygooey goodness. The mushrooms, sourdough bread, and melted cheese were the perfect throuple! I'm most likely going to order that when I come back but the kufta is calling my name too.

The Pattie's are 6oz which I actually like because I'm usually a fan of thinner smash burgers. I don't like when the patty is too big and overwhelms the other ingredients.

The atmosphere of this place is divey and classic. The vibe is low key, it isn't the trendy insta vibes and more about solid burgers with solid ingredients. Staff was SUPER helpful. The young gentlemen took the time to explain his most popular burgers to us and then did it ten times over to every other customer that walked in! He seemed like the owner but I wasn't too sure.

Will be back to try everything else on the menu!

Came here on a Saturday afternoon for lunch.

The food was okay. I felt like the bun to patty ratio was not equal. The fries were hard and dry. However, the milkshake was excellent. My husband ordered onion rings and those were delicious.

The service was great. We were checked on multiple times.

I wasn't impressed with the burgers but everything else was good. I'll have to give it another try.

Super greasy burger and fries, long wait when we were the only people in the restaurant, dirty tables.

I saw all these amazing reviews for Sal's but I must have gone in at the wrong time. A kitchen shouldn't have a curtain, that curtain should be gone and all you should see is clean well kept things.

Then! Burger was 18 and change ( with garlic fries) added 2 dollar tip ( charged 4 dollars)

Will not be back to Sal's

Me and a friend of mine named Martin came to eat at a burger place because he was craving a good, juicy, succulent burger. I'm talking delicious, seasoned well, tender, great texture with a mouth watering bite that drips from your mouth after consuming as if you just finished having a blast in bed with your partner feeling. This was not that unfortunately. I ordered a Kufta burger and although it was soft and tasty, it wasn't amazing like I wanted it to be. It cost north of 14$ and my friend bought their king of the king of burgers called the cowboy burger for $15. It did come with French fries for both burgers. Those fries were crunchy, tasty and salty.

The issue was with the price to portion ratio because at that price tag, I expect to be full and satisfied, both of which were not met when I was finished. My friend had the same feeling. He also bought a chocolate milkshake for $7 and additional $3 for substitution of fries for garlic fries. The entire thing together was about $44 ish. Back in the day this meal was worth maybe $20 and I would be satisfied given the quality and quantity of this meal. The burgers, both of them did not blow me away and excite my dopamine tastebuds to signal my brain for more. I was starving after. So we went and got a large ice cream dessert at another place.

The customer service was alright, nothing to write home about! It was a short wait maybe 20 minutes for everything with several other people inside. I had much better burgers at other places, but more importantly, I can make tastier burgers myself in my personal opinion and it would cheaper and healthier.

The great news is it is a decent place to hang out. It was clean inside and socially, the environment was somewhat comfortable to talk to others. Roomy and clean bathrooms along with WiFi included. But, I don't think I would personally come back again and pay that price for less than a decent tasting burger and low quantity of food.

Small cozy restaurant with really friendly service and good prices. Opted for the cowboy which has an onion ring and mushrooms on it. Nice soft bun that is toasted really well and has a great crunch from the inside toasting. Beef patty was slightly dry, but good flavor and seasoning. All the ingredients were fresh and tasty. The fries were solid. The burger and fries were $15.50 pre tax which is a great price compared to how much burgers and fries go for now when at fast food places. The hot sauce was pretty good too and homemade. It was like a Spicer franks red hot. Overall a solid place that I'd come back to. I eat a lot and can't say I was full after the meal, but I wasn't hungry either. Next time I would probably opt for a double if I thought I would be able to fit it in my mouth. The burger is already tall as it is, but not unwieldily tall, but would be with an added patty.

Saw someone review this burger spot on instagram reels and it looked gas, so I decided to check it out. Sal's Burgers is a small burger joint located at the Laurelwood shopping center near CSM. The interior is super simple, with some tables, chairs, and booth seating. The menu's on this cool peg letter board and has a good amount of options. I'm pretty sure I got my order taken by the man himself (Sal).

I got the All American burger, which came with bacon and a side of fries. If I had noticed them sooner, I would've ordered some wings, but the burger was plenty filling despite its small size. It had a great smoky flavor, was juicy, and the bun was pillowy. The fries kind of reminded me of larger In-n-out fries based off their taste, but it was nothing some ketchup couldn't fix. I went back for an Oreo milkshake at the end, which was also small, but good; there were lots of Oreo bits.

I'll definitely have to come back to try some other items on the menu. If you're a fan of burgers, try out Sal's Burgers!
