What is the difference between the Bay view vs. Waterfront view?

      A:

Water front is the water front. Bay view is a view of the bay but not closest to the water.

Nice hotel with good, updated amenities. But, the hotel's main asset is its staff, particularly its housekeeping staff, and even more particularly Carmen S. The maintenance staff was exception and made sure that we always had everything we needed, from water bottles to fresh towels. After staying at Hotel du Pont in Wilmington, I saw how negatively a maintenance staff could impact a hotel stay -- from added noise, to intrusive entries. The Marriott Waterfront's housekeeping staff was professional, meticulous, respectful and incredibly helpful; they were, quite simply, the most wonderful housekeeping staff I have ever encountered.

The only issues with our stay were that we paid for a waterfront view but were initially assigned to a room facing the building and that it was difficult to get an internet connection in the room even though you pay for wi-fi.

There are two restaurants in the hotel. We only ate at Flights 101, which was tasty but expensive, as is to be expected of any hotel restaurant. The service was a little slow, but the food did not disappoint. The rib eye tacos & fish tacos were really good, although I felt that the guacamole was better than the meat in either type of taco. The buffalo mac & cheese was a good portion, with big pieces of lobster. Overall, a good and convenient place to grab a bite if you're staying in the hotel.

There's also a fitness room, pool and jacuzzi. You have to walk through the fitness room to enter and exit the pool, which was fine, but perhaps a design flaw. At night, there were a lot of children in the pool and hot tub area, so perhaps it would help to restrict age for hot tub use.

In general, it was a great experience, and we'd definitely stay here again.

Stayed here for a recent event. They have a shuttle that runs from the hotel to the airport and vice versa every 15 minutes. This is a great service because an Uber from the airport will run you about $15-$20. Recently renovated, the dining and bar area has a huge window That overlooks the landing area for the airplanes at the airport.

The group I was with numbered about 300 people. The banquet servers did an outstanding job. Very friendly and accommodating they moved seamlessly among our group to keep things clean and orderly.

The housekeeping staff was equally great, and worked hard every day that I saw them. A truly unheralded team.

The room was nice and spacious, the air conditioning kept things cool and even though we were located near an airport, it was relatively quiet the entire time.

Highly recommend this location if you are traveling to San Francisco

Being a local, I've long been curious about all of the different "airport hotels" that are sprinkled along this stretch of Bayshore. While I've driven by them numerous times over the years, and even stopped by a few to pick up/drop off friends from out of town, I can't say I had even stepped foot inside any of them before. However, when presented the opportunity to stay here, how could I not? It would be like getting to see what visitors to the Bay Area experience when they visit the Bay Area! Or get stranded here overnight when their flights out of SFO get cancelled...

From the outside, the look of this place feels a bit uninspired and dated (I'd guess this was built in the 80's) - it's plain, boxy in shape and lacks any sort of creative design. Inside, it's a lot more attractive. The main part of the lobby, where the bar and front desk are, has a gorgeous view of the bay and the airplanes arriving at SFO through their giant wall of windows. Onsite, the hotel has just about all of your amenities...and then some. In addition to said bar (which doubles as their only restaurant), they also have a "pantry" for snacks, drinks, and travel items, a gym, a business center, a conference/event space, an airport shuttle, and, apparently, a barber/salon as well. In all, pretty much everything you could ask for!

Much like the rest of the hotel, the rooms look like they've been renovated, possibly even within the last five to ten years, but the decor inside their KING BED GUEST ROOM felt even more modern. More importantly, it was very comfortable, particularly the bed which was outfitted with a perfectly soft mattress and pillows. As for the rest of the room, they've got your usual toiletries (soap/shampoo dispensers, as opposed to the miniature bottles), a couch, hairdryer, iron, ironing board, safe, mini fridge, WiFi (for a fee for non-Bonvoy members), coffee/coffee machine, and water bottles (there were a couple of smaller ones that may have been free, but there's a larger one that's definitely not).

While there weren't any real problems that arose, I'm not sure I would say I didn't have any issues. Look, I get that real estate in the Bay Area comes at an incredible premium and that all of these "airport hotels" inevitably charge for parking, but it's crazy to me that onsite parking is $48/day. Which is only marginally less crazy than the $12 they charge for just one hour. If not for the fact that it was storming the entire time, I might have opted to take a chance on street parking, assuming there aren't any time restrictions. At least they don't charge those resort/hospitality fees!

Being a local and that I only spent one night here, I imagine there's a pretty good chance my considerations differ from those of actual travelers. By all accounts though, this Marriott is pretty solid through and through. Plus, the room rate here seems cheaper than others in the area and they don't charge any sort of resort/hospitality fees. The one thing I definitely regret is not stopping by the bar for a drink (the atmosphere felt lively) or to grab a bite during the day to enjoy the view. Although, I guess I can always come back for a second chance...preferably without having to park here.

Not a bad meal from hotel restaurant. I did it simple quesadillas and french fries and a great view facing the water and the airport runway lots to see If you're coming to do business, the restaurant is in the foyer, very loud and next to the bar but overall, if you're staying in San Francisco and you want to be close to the airport, this is where to be

Its proximity to the airport and availability of shuttle service has made this my favorite hotel when I travel. I love how it's by the water. I always request the waterfront room. The view of the water is relaxing. And watching the planes go by makes for an entertaining sight. Especially when there are several of them lined up for take off. There is a walking path by the waterfront which is good for early morning and evening walks. The staff are pleasant and accommodating.

I choose this hotel because of the distance from Daly City. It's close with barely any traffic in this direction. I don't mind having to drive I just hate being in the congestion of the city. I love how it's on the water, it has beautiful views . I have stayed by airport twice already, I will continue to do so. The rooms are bigger than in the city.
I am Marriott member and they never disappoint me . Rooms are always clean and staff is friendly. The Marriott offers breakfast and a full bar. I would stay here again. I recommend this hotel .

Let me first say that this high rating comes down to two things: Customer service & overall experience. Yes, nothing's perfect but this place for this particular stay will hands-down get a perfect score thanks to manager Kalo, Leena, & the 7th floor rooms 7019 (double), 7017 (living room), 7011 (king suite), & 7010 (double).

I go to great lengths for my family. I wanted them to be comfortable and well taken cared of, but it's tough not being able to host them at my house. Insert SFO Marriott Waterfront. This has been the go-to spot lately due to better rates, views, & set-up. I booked 3 rooms a few months back & thought nothing of it until the gloomy, rainy weather rolled in.

I was afraid my family would feel cramped and didn't want them to go out in harsh conditions for basic necessities. I called quite a few times and spoke to helpful reps, but it wasn't until I got connected with the manager onsite - Kalo that I felt relieved.

Kalo was thorough, patient, knowledgeable, kind, & professional. All options were explored. I felt like I had my own personal assistant helping me! After quite a few changes, we settled on 2 adjoining rooms & one room nearby. So imagine my surprise to see the luxury living room right smack in the middle! Totally unexpected!

I also added the M Lounge access (currently $50 a day per room). This way they have round-the-clock snack & coffee/tea bar, breakfast in the morning, & more goodies in the evening. Saved me so much time knowing my family had this for them!

This was EXACTLY what we needed, but didn't know we needed until we got it! Plenty of room, great ammenities, & even more memories made! Just spectacular all around. We will definitely be back!

      Updated review
      18 check-ins

It was our first time back since the pandemic. We knew that the M Club had been closed the past couple of years; and my wife just didn't feel comfortable in a large hotel as she was afraid of the rona, so we stayed the past couple years at a different property. I booked a room on the company's travel website and had a virtual credit card payment (VCP). As soon as we arrived, we were welcomed by Anneliese, the front desk agent. She was nice and sweet. Because we were titanium, she was able to upgrade us to a suite with a nice view of the bay, and the airport runway.

Our room was great as we would be staying 5 nights. It was a suite with a bar area, a living area with a sofa, tv and work desk, and a bedroom with a king bed, and a bathroom. It was like a double room. The room seemed a little outdated in some ways, but, it was comfortable enough that my wife didn't complain as she liked the view and the room itself.

Contrary to the reviews the she had read on Tripadvisor, the M Club was fully operational and did not close early or serve hot dogs. The Marriott provided us with breakfast, evening appetizers (dinner), and dessert. Soda and snacks were available throught the day. They did a wonderful job with their evening appetizers (dinner), unlike other M Clubs that have been Bonvoyed. The chefs here cooked something different each night. Desserts included cake and cookies. Soda is available all day, as was their coffee/espresso machine. My wife complained to me that some of the M Club staff didn't greet us, but seemed to greet the regulars. Zoe in the M Club was the nicest to me.

The gym was adequate. It had old ellipticals and treadmills. Even though it was old, it still worked. The also had a weights for you to lift. The gym was good enough to give me a good workout.

Check out was an ordeal. I asked a front desk clerk on my second day, Tuesday, if my virtual payment would work as my previous time trying to use it at another hotel failed. I was told that it was no problem. When I tried to check out on Friday, the front desk clerk told me that my VCP was declined and started getting frustrated with me. He told me that there have been credit card fraud at the hotel recently and seemed to imply that I might be doing the same. I tried to be nice and was hoping Brandon or another front desk agent could help, but, they were all busy. I was there with the front desk clerk trying to check out, and on the phone with my travel agency at the same time, wanting to leave. I was ready to charge my own credit card when the VCP mysteriously worked. It was interesting that during the night before I checked out, the Marriott emailed me a bill with the amount already charged to the virtual credit card, but, at checkout, it couldn't be done. Days later, I spoke with an employee who told me that VCP's or Advanced Deposit as this Marriott calls it requires advanced notice for the process to go smoothly.

I liked this hotel. They took care of me the entire week. They even gave me a late checkout because I had a late morning videoconference. The extra 25 minutes dealing with the clerk that checked me out was something I could've done without. I've heard that VCP's are used more frequently these days. Perhaps a certain employee needs additional training on VCP's and on not implying that customers like me may be commiting credit card fraud (Hint hint...to the nice Marriott employee that reads and replies to every review). I'll be nice and give them 5 stars.

First time here and I have to say the panoramic view of the SFO runway stretching into the Bay from the lobby is the highlight.

Great location of course just a few minutes from the airport. So if that is a factor, this is a great option. The rooms and gym are functional. The parking is a rip off BTW so watch for that.

This hotel overall is just ok. For traveling through SF to catch our international flights? It's in a good location and the panoramic view of the SFO runway stretching into the Bay from the lobby is a nice touch. Not quite at the airport, and far enough away to remove you from feeling like you haven't left SFO. Rooms are mediocre at best, perhaps a little on the shabby side from the high volume of visitors. It's a little far from any restaurants besides the one in the hotel, and ubers/lyfts were pretty unwilling to come pick us up from the lobby. There is also no room service, and if you are not a Marriot/Bonvoy member you will be seriously nickle-and-dimed about the wifi. Despite being a Marriot/Bonvoy member I really feel like that is a poor policy and does not reflect well on the company. I totally understand paying if you need super high speed internet but $15/day? That seems a bit over the top.

The best part about this hotel is the shuttle service, which is around the clock. Staying here as a pass-through is fine but I would not recommend staying here for more than a night if you have to.
