The new and improved Terminal 1 has finally opened! Alaska Airlines has officially moved over from T2 to T1, and I'm here for it!

      Pros:
+ Everything is so new and shiny
      + Lots of food options

      Cons:
      - Lost Pinkberry
      - Lost Lark Creek Grill

Compared to T2, T1 feels massive and loaded with gates. If you're a huge fried chicken fan, I'm here to tell you that Starbird will be a big disappointment.

This is a great airport! It's huge, beautifully decorated and clean. I was very pleasantly surprised by this airport. It literally dwarfs the Charlotte airport lol. I loved the many different cultures represented in their dining options. The only thing that happened that made this a 4 star experience was that the luggage system completely broke down once we landed.

Apparently there was some sort of computer error and the belts were not working at all. I waited over an hour to get my luggage and then they made an announcement that there was an issue and they'd be physically handing out bags to the hundreds of people now waiting for their luggage too. It was like the hunger games...

Wild times ensued and I just patiently waited for my big green bag. Once I got it I ran out of the airport. Other than this luggage experience I really liked this airport. One of the nicest I've seen in the U.S.

One of the nicest airports I have ever been in.

If I had not known I would have thought I was in an upscale mall.

There is public lounge for passengers for extended layovers that you can relax in.

The airport is a "silent" airport that does not have constant announcements except in the gate areas. This provides for a less hectic and does not add to the anxiety of traveling.

We were in Terminal 1 which is named for Harvey Milk. There was a lot of information about him.
There is a history of flight attendant uniforms.

Numerous places to eat (note there is no sourdough bread for sale to take home as a souvenir in this terminal)

There are more than your standard airport chair/benches to sit in.
Plenty of murals and displays to enjoy.

I loved the fact that the newsstands sold water in metal reusable, recyclable metal bottles.

Clean, spacious restrooms for both sexes as well as a gender neutral.

The security check in was nice that the plastic bins that you put your items to be checked pop up in front of you so you do not have to pick them up.

Every staff member that I encountered was super nice.

Umm, something needs to be done about the water dispenser -- it could barely dispense enough water to keep me from dying of thirst. Other than that, it looks nice, and I can't speak to the Wi-Fi speed, so 3 stars.

Plus there's no lounge I could have used, so I'm not a fan. Bun Mee was yummy, though.

I flew in/out of SFO a couple of years ago and didn't really like the experience then. But recently flew in and out again and now all the construction is done, but I still don't like the experience. Not sure how this airport made the top 5 in the US recently, it's definitely in my bottom 5!

The Sky Train (or whatever they call it) is a joke and takes too long to wait for a train and definitely takes forever to get from Terminal 1 to the rental cars. Airports are going to a "walk to the rental counter" concept, not sure why they recently renovated this terrible airport and didn't do that, but they need to.

Also, the people/patrons in the area are self-centered, inconsiderate, and only concerned with themselves... Absolutely ridiculous how these people act, especially for the political vitriol they spew.

We're not flying in/out of SFO next time we're coming to this part of CA, rather we'll try Oakland or Sacramento.

The airport is very organized and well run and the personnel very friendly. A few of the security agents along the scanners could use customer service training, some of them appear to have a chip on their shoulders or some type of complex. (Not helpful and rude) Also the conveyor racks at the scanner areas are not automatic which holds up lines and causes a bit of confusion. I would recommend an upgrade to help alleviate confusion. Other than that fiasco the airport if quite nice and clean.

Great airport. Up to date. Lots of interesting information if for some reason you want to dwell around the airport. Comfortable chairs without having that standard industrial look, instead some actual interior design that was well thought out at this airport. Plenty of food places and also energy stations to charge up devices. SFO is probably one of the better thought out airports in the US. Money allocated for infrastructure was actually spent on infrastructure at SFO. (STL - take note and action too).

Ate at Bourbon Pub. Great cocktail and manager Michael made sure our food was prepared perfectly. I don't usually have high expectations for airport food, but this was a nice surprise and sets the bar high for restaurants everywhere

Fantastic experience flying out of Terminal 1 on American Airlines. Security was fast modern and efficient. The concourse is beautiful, cool and comfortable, and has plenty of dining and coffee options.
