San Mateo Medical Center

The first time i made an appointment here, they gave it to me in 3 months ahead. But it wasn't an emergency so i didn't mind.

Now i really need to see my Doctor, and they won't answer the phone, and i have been on hold for 45 mins. This is ridiculous! I only go here because its literally three blocks away from my house.

This is before I've even GONE to this clinic. I've been calling all day to make an appointment. So far, I've been on hold for a total of 45 minutes. :( This is not boding well for a clinic I was hoping could be my new go-to since I'm new to the neighborhood. I'll update this review if I ever make an appointment and actually go there for services.

Can't say much about any medical assistance. I came here to get assistance with completing my Covered California benefits. The Counselor was very friendly, professional and helpful. I forgot her name otherwise I would noted her name on this review. She completed my application with me to make sure it was submitted correctly. I am very grateful for the help.

Absolutely terrible service at the front desk, not helpful at all, does not update their website. DONT WASTE YOUR TIME HERE!!!

Worst clinic ever! Always wait for 2 hrs! I have been coming here from Last 4 times and doctors never see you on time! If u r planning on coming to this clinic make sure you are not doing anything later in a day! As usual I have been sitting here over an hour because doctor is running late!!

I called to ask a simple question and it took literally 15mins for somone to pick up the phone. Some of the people really have bad attitudes and are horrible with customer service. Totall lack of acknowledgement to the patient, the nurses in the front windowa cant even greet...

so far, so good.
after a series of unfornunate and otherwise life changing events over the past couple years, i find myself without a job and with a new baby!

yikes! what to do?
well, through a series of difficult phone calls, a bit of the runaround and such, I called this clinic.

my dauther is just 5 months old, a bit behind on her immunization schedule, and has not seen a doctor since she was 3 weeks old!

they gave me some good basic information, asked some questions, determined that my baby qualified for their services, and gave her an appointment for the next day!! (wow! but she did say this is not the usual case)

they signed me up for a program called "gateway" which allows children to be seen now, especially for immunizations, while waiting for medi-cal case to be processed. and, are you ready for this-- FREE of charge.

once i got to the clinic, they place was nice, clean, easy to find, easy street parking. the woman at the reception desk, the nurse or med assistant and pediatrician were all friendly and helpful, and non-judgemental.

they did let me know not to expect to able to be seen without an appointment for reference.

i only hope that this will continue to be the case in future visits. i will be sure to give updates.

the reason it was only 4 stars and not 5 is because i am not sure what the next steps are in the process of applying for medi-cal. this was not fully explained to me what part they do, and what i need to do. i only expect problems from medi-cal however, based on stories from others, etc.
