    About the Business

Established in 2015. The SeaGlass story began early this century, when The Battery Conservancy was designing the park's interior. The southern end of the park needed more light. The design team came up with the idea of an aquatic carousel to conjure The Battery's history as the first home of the New York Aquarium.

    Ask the Community

    • Q:

Do they accept credit cards for payment at the carousel?

      A:

I am 95% sure I paid with a debit card when I bought my SeaGlass Token. But here is their email and phone # so you can be sure. info@thebattery.org 212-344-4194

    • Q:

Is there enough time for the ride to stop for photos (a few minutes)?

      A:

There is time in between rides, and in the day I went we were able to take pictures because it was not so busy. Maybe during busy times they would try to rush people out more quickly

Oh man, what a great $6 find nestled near the ferry entrance for the Statue of Liberty! My son was young enough they didn't charge for him, but he absolutely loved this carousel and asked repeatedly to return.

The music on this ride transports you to the sea as a magnificent score plays as you go around and around. There are seats that go up and down and others that are stationary. It was a quick ride, but definitely worth it if you have little ones!

Really unique carousel in Battery Park that was a perfect stop after we spent a week at the beach hunting seaglass with our carousel obsessed 4 year old. We made sure to snag one of the sea creatures that go up and down (some are stationary so if you're with a small who cares about that sort of thing keep your eyes open!)

The fish light up when the ride gets going and you sort of float along instead of going round and round in a circle like a traditional merry go round. I do wish we came at night because we were there during peak sun and you really don't get the full "seaglass" effect that way.

Reasonably priced at $6 per person.

Finally got to see and ride the SeaGlass carousel. We were coming from the seaport, which was about a 15 min-walk so I said why not. The R and 1 trains and Staten Island ferry are nearby.

The ride costs $6 per person, for adult/child (pls check their site). Pay at the front of the line; credit cards accepted (that day only CC, no cash).
Ride a fish/sea creature. An adult, with a small child can ride on one. If tall enough, a child can ride on their own. The seat is a bit narrow and there is a belt to hold the rider. Pick one inside a circle if you want one that moves up and down. Once the ride starts, each one lights up so must be nice in the evening too.

Maybe it's the carousel's colors but looked like it needed a little sprucing up though. Also some fishes looked like the top broke off, not sure if designed that way.

I liked that this carousel is different compared to a typical one because the fishes move left and right and the circular platform also spins so a lot of movement; sitting position is more relaxed, same with the music.

Staff is nice and very patient, which they need with some adults; like one who felt she didn't need to pay for her lap child (but was told was big enough to go solo) and just went on anyway.

I do recommend this place for at least a visit if you live in or are visiting New York City. It's such a fun thing to do, especially if you have children. I'm talking any age, but if you have older children like preteens or teenagers, I say it's better to go when the sun is setting or closer to the evening. The lights give it more of a magical ambiance, and you can see them light up better at this time. Especially with the whole theatrical musical vibes it gives. It's so cute for date night as well. The price right now in the summer of 8/2024 was six dollars. If you live in NYC, then you know why I had to write this part about the price, lol. Two thumbs up from. HAPPY YELPING!

Absolutely amazing experience! For something that seems so simple, it was absolutely magical. We smiled and giggled the entire time like children. Six dollars and this was one of the most memorable things that we've done in the city. This is a fun experience for people of all ages.

A fun little under the sea experience with so many fun colors. Yes, it's mostly supposed to be for the little humans but the full size humans do love it too. For $6 you can ride in this cool bioluminescent-esque ride in a magical, colorful, pretty merry go round experience (but make it under the sea themed).

Of course at any time of the day it's beautiful but the colors truly shine at night or right when it's getting darker. A true sea glass experience.

What a wonderful experience. Admission is $6 or $50 for a 10-Pack. You get to ride on big fishes on the merry go round maybe a few times around and soothing music airing. Be sure to get on the one in the middle as it goes up and down. This was perfect for kids or adults all ages. If you have a young toddler they can sit on your lap. They have seatbelts on each fish. There are also stroller parking outside.

Fun experience for me and my daughter. I was in the area and figured I would check it out. There was no line, and we were able to get on the carousel fairly quickly. It was $6 per person for the short ride.

This was hands down the most magical carousel I have ever been on. Hands down. The best. best $6 bucks ever. Magical sea creatures take you on a delightful whimsical ride in the fun-ist sea animal shapes ever! The textures, the visuals, it was just plain fun!
