First and foremost, the El Rancho staff truly understands the meaning of Customer Service and kindness. We were on our way last Thursday to the Bay Area for a funeral and had to turn back due to nightmarish traffic on HWY 80. I contacted the hotel letting them know we wouldn't be checking in until the following day. Knowing our situation they were quick to change our RSVP, even though the room was non-refundable, to the following night.

We had our granddaughters with us who thoroughly enjoyed the pool and complimentary breakfast buffet. The girls went back a couple of times for fruit and muffins. The breakfast buffet was one of the better ones we've had. Three styles of scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, cereal, yogurt, etc.

This was the girls first time in a motel and had a great experience. Everyone was nice. The room rates were a great value. I checked online and then called El Rancho and got a better rate using AARP membership. We have stayed here before and will continue on our trips to The Bay.

We stayed at the El Rancho Inn when we were in the area for a family event, and I was also on spring break, so why not.

When we checked in, the two keys that were given to us weren't working so we had to get two new ones at the front desk that also weren't too good but whatever, we had to go with what we had. The room was relatively clean upon check-in, but we also disliked the beds as it gave me and my dad a really bad back, and I was also very sore on my sides.

The shampoo and conditioner bottles are tiny and don't do much or anything and it takes the toilet a while to flush down after it swirls around and around. The coffee is also piss-poor awful, even with half and half and sugar.

We won't be staying here again, and I definitely recommend looking somewhere else.

Ok, anywhere else but SF I'd expect to pay $50-60/n for a musty smelling room with a dark shower. These guys charge $80/n which is probably very reasonable.

Service was friendly and efficient. Sadly the Terrace Restaurant and Bar on site is closed, but one found sustenance at Trader Joe's, Safeway or one of the many walkable eateries.

The next morning I returned for a tasty complimentary breakfast and was stunned. Beautiful restaurant, but only for breakfast.

This hotel overall is pretty great! It's kept relatively clean, the breakfast buffet is decent and is well kept by staff. The rooms are smaller than I imagined based on the pictures.
The biggest problem we had during our stay was ants in our bathroom and our closet so they ended up on our clothes and spare blankets that we brought. Not to mention seeing squished ant carcasses across the tub I'm assuming from housekeeping, but if you're going to bother killing them why not wipe them up too?

Front desk staff welcomed politely. Gentleman was nice at checkin. He saw I was a vip one key member and gave me the reward of 1 bottle wine. Thanku. Room was average. Breakfast was a hot breakfast and pleasantly served nice. Variety of scrambled eggs. Plain, veggie and then meat lovers scramble. They also has potatoes, sausage and bacon. The had cold cereal and yogurt and fruit /!; juices, coffee and muffins. Nice spread. Thankyou!

      El Rancho (Ronchy)
The room was sub par, Disappointing to find what looked like blood in the shower. The train goes right by the hotel most of the night. The $30 ride credit will get you to the airport but not back.

      Rust or maybe blood? Yuck!!!

This is a great location for sfo and inexpensive for an overnight and to leave your car while you are out of town. BUT I find it offensive that in the large breakfast rooms all 3 tv's were tuned to Fox news. yuk. This is San Francisco. Most places turn televisions to the food network, or some other neutral channel. I suggested this to the front desk when we left. In the breakfast room I asked the attendants to change the channel. They turned two tv's off & changed one channel while we were present but when i went back for tea 10" later, all 3 tv's back to the Fox channel. It wouldn't surprise me in Shasta county or Idaho, but I found it disappointing.

This hotel is absolutely disgusting with its roach infestation. There were roaches in my hotel room 558 every night when I came back to sleep. They'd crawl out of every crevice when I turned the lights on. Refer to the pictures I took below:

The only positives are the location, since it's on el Camino and in Millbrae. The swimming pool and hot tub is nice, although I doubt they clean the water. It doesn't smell right.

Stay was ok. Room was dark. Bathroom needs to be updated. The room I had was weird. Right in the middle of the suite was the bathroom so you can enter from the room and living room. There was a closet that my kids kept running in and out of and came home with bites on their arms. Not sure if there's dust mites in there. Breakfast was ok. Lots of flies which made it annoying while eating.
