Sheridan Elementary School

The students follow the Sheridan Code of Conduct, wear uniforms, participate in Gardening, Playworks, Music and Balanced Literacy. Math is top notch with Common Core and the teachers are constantly updating their professional practices. There is a Literacy Coach and an Instructional Coach. The school nurse and social worker are at the campus two days per week. Breakfast and lunch are served to all and there is an on-site YMCA after school program.
You'll be highly surprised at this hidden gem with a growing PTC, many resources, and a hard working staff that is consistent without turnover (average experience is about 12 years).

My son has been in special education pre-K at Sheridan for a year and a half now and it has been absolutely amazing. The staff at Sheridan treats us like family, they care for the children a tremendous amount and we couldn't be happier. Ms Carmen Ausserer is by far, the most empathetic and caring teacher I have ever met (and most likely, will ever meet). She texts me when the school bus is late so I won't get worried, she sends home a note in my son's backpack every day where she writes if and what he ate for lunch, she sits down with me every month for monthly check-ins and the list goes on. She is spectacular! And the things she doesn't know about Autism, is probably not worth knowing. When my son started in her classroom he was 3.5 yrs old and didn't speak at all, nor did he have receptive language, he now speaks in 3-4 word sentences and is really good at picture exchange as a way of communication. Ms Carmen is extremely intelligent and creative and my whole family adores her, we are forever grateful for her compassion and guidance.

One of the most differse school communities in the Bay Area for both staff and students. Quiet halls and student work everywhere you turn. Amazing teaching in each grade and it is clear that the children are expected to achieve and they do!

Sheridan Preschool has the best Special Ed program in the city!!!

The teachers and assistants are very involved and dedicated to every child in the classroom. Our 4 year old son loves Ms. Sabrina's singing and playing guitar every day. Ms. Nocedal goes out of her way to make sure that kids strive to achieve their goals. Both of the teachers have structured programs and they are both very caring, using individual approach to cater to every child's needs. The teachers and assistants provide usefull tips and help work on the same goals that parents are working at home.

We are very fortunate to find this Preschool as this has become a second home for our child. We would like to THANK ALL OF THE TEACHERS AND AIDS: MS. SABRINA, MS. NOCEDAL, CLARISSA, KHIN, ROSIE, NAZARETH, CHASE, and DONN FOR DOING SUCH A GREAT JOB!!!

My son was in private school before attending Sheridan, in just one year he improved so much I was convinced we made the right choice. After two years he is now excelling and reading very well. He struggled a lot at first but is now on the honor roll. His 5th grade teacher Mrs. Burns is terrific as was his 3rd and 4th grade teachers. Mrs. Burns has him on the right track to excel in his academic endeavors.

Sheridan is a hidden gem of a public school in SFUSD! The campus is lovely, there are special PE, Art, and music classes, a school librarian, and a very dedicated staff. The children seem happy and peaceful while they are getting a great education.
