      Nov 29, 2020

We ordered out on Nov 28, 2020. We're Japanese and we are used to good quality sushi. First and most important of all, the sushi rice is undercooked and hard. In sushi, the rice is most important ingredient. In Japan, a sushi chef used to train for years, how to choose rice, how to cook rice with the right texture and also how to make the rice with the right taste for sushi. Many Chinese or Korean restaurants don't know how to make the basic ingredient, and it shows in their rice.
Next, the other ingredients were very skimpy. very thin strips of avocado, very thin egg and the flavouring was not right, and the fish was paper thin.
I really appreciate quality and i am quite willing to pay more for it.
The food in this restaurant lis very poor quality.

Great food and ambiance, they could have more servers on but understandable during Covid and fly season.
This has been our go to every month when in Victoria and close to the inner harbor. The sushi is fresh and the sashimi is perfect.
My suggestion is get a table away from the main restaurant or a corner area. The people watching is unique also.

Ambiance doesn't match quality of food.

If you know the difference between toro/ chutoro/ otoro this is not the place for you. If I want lots of filling food then enjoy! This is it.

      Love the ambiance

      Super friendly staff

Waitress couldn't tell me what fish was fresh- didn't understand the question
Rolls were like a brick ( too much rice/ dense)
Don was better- rice was tasty when not dense
      Fish not fresh
Udon without flavor/ broth or noodles

They know you're visitor, if you choose all you can eat the foods will be super salty. You can't eat that. They will charge you extra money. Meat and seafood are not fresh when you come with all you can eat menu.
The server is terrible. 100% no customer service

I've been here a total of 4 times.

A work friend wanted organize a little all you can eat sushi dinner. Hot food was ok for all you can eat standards, however the sushi like nigiri was pretty disgusting.

Each time I've had to return its been worse and worse.

Latest time I went seemed they had 1 'server' on staff; I don't think we got greeted for 30+ minutes.

      Expensive too.

I really like this place; I have been more than a few times over the last several years, most recently a couple of weeks ago, and will go again. I have only been at supper time, not for lunch.

I have never had a bad experience with the food. The rice has a good texture in maki and nigiri - not mushy or overly-compacted, and also not hard or undercooked. The fish has always been nice and fresh too, good flavour and texture, and, I have not had anything served to me still-frozen. My wife and I also enjoy tamago (egg) nigiri, yakitori, takoyaki, and other non-sushi items. I'm not qualified to judge its authenticity as I have not traveled to Japan.

I will admit I've had mixed results with the speed of the service, they have seemed a bit understaffed at times, especially on very busy days, and the servers have often been absolutely run off their feet and unable to take orders (or check in and take further orders, for all-you-can-eat) in a timely fashion. Even on a good visit, you will need some patience as they could probably still use another server to keep up. But you can tell the servers are working hard and doing their best, and they are polite and friendly. The sushi bar can also struggle to get out food fast enough at busy times, but it is understandable that they make it all to order, which is time-consuming.

Just a heads up: This place is Chinese. Unfortunately, I didn't know that before I stepped in.

Prices are pretty cheap. I got the chirashi and the bf got the tempura bento. The rice in his bento was covered in some kind of creamy and tart sauce. Very unusual -- I had never seen anything like it. The breading on the tempura was a little thick. My chirashi had fresh fish (except for the hamachi, which was so-so) and it also came with some kind of baby octopus. Isn't that Chinese.. or Korean? I don't think it's Japanese.

Something else that was weird was the waitress asking us how much change we wanted back. I found that kind of rude.

No "thank you" when we left either.

Sat at the sushi bar, (which was rotting and warped from leaky fridges me thinks)

Wait staff seemed turned off that I did not order alcohol, at no time durring my meal was I offered water.

$33 for AYCE dinner, the sushi chef did an OK job preparing rolls.

Chicken karaage, essentially "pigeon", bone in, no seasoning

Ika/squid karaage, a bowl of thin greasy rubber bands with no flavor.

Prawn tempura (how do you mess this up?) The prawns were very small, batter coating was not good, chewy rather than crisp.

The waitress clearly knew I hadn't ordered anywhere near $33 worth of this awful food. When I requested the check it would have been more responsible to charge me alacart rather than simply take my money, tip?

      Don't eat here.
