About the Business
Siegel's Bagels is proud to sell authentic Montreal-style bagels at our deli and bakery in Kitsilano and in the Granville Island Public Market. We bake constantly throughout the day and night, providing you with the freshest bagels 'round'! In the Montreal-style tradition, our bagels are boiled then baked in a classic wood burning oven which gives them a genuine crusty outside and chewy inside that is so satisfying to sink your teeth into! Not only are they authentic and delicious, our bagels are high in energy, low in fat (98.5% fat free!) and they come in a wide variety of flavours, from the traditional sesame to Siegel's own recipes like rosemary rock salt and ancient grains

Siegel's Bagels was at the top of my list of places to try at Granville Island Public Market and they did not disappoint!
The line was a bit long, but moved quickly. The longest part is waiting for your order (10ish minutes), but it's worth it! I ordered the Lox & Cream Cheese on a Sesame Bagel and my husband ordered a Lox & Cream Cheese on an Everything Bagel. The cream cheese was a bit heavy handed, but they also gave a good amount of lox - which I feel like people can get skimpy with. I really liked the size and texture of the bagel as well. I feel like bagels tend to be large and fluffy, but these bagels were perfect in size and thickness.
I don't typically eat bagels at home, but their bagels made me want to bring back a bag for myself! And I might just do that on my next visit to Vancouver ;)Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Aug 19, 2024
Montreal smoked meat bagel is so tasty from here! With a side of pickle, it's a delicious treat for a nice sunny day at Granville island. Just don't let the birds get to your food! The amount of meat they like on is drool worthy. First place I go to after getting Lees donuts. Their bagels are always fresh and baked right in the stove in front of everyone!

It was good to try Siegel's bagels as I've never had Montreal style bagels before. The standard for me is still NY bagels though. The bagels here are freshly prepared and still warm when you but them, but a bit underwhelming. They're smaller, crispy on the outside but dense on the inside. It's a fine bagel but indistinguishable from any other ordinary bagel I've had. Line is long but does move pretty fast with attentive service. This place is located in Granville Public Market.

Delicious bagels. Conveniently located in the granville island farmers market year round.
I loved the variety of flavours here but what I really loved is that they had a variety of flavoured cream cheese and enough toppings to make a delicious breakfast bagel or savory bagel for lunch.
We bought some smoked salmon and cream cheese here and we really loved the delicious bagels we made during our stay.
A nice stop for a treat or take home treats from Vancouver!Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 4Oh no 0 - 1100488Dec 28, 2023
Siegel's Bagels - Montreal's Smoked Meat ($12.95) 7/10
Another famous brand, Siegel's apparently the closest you can get to Montreal bagel in Vancouver. I wasn't sure what to expect so I just got their most well known menu, rosemary salt bagel with Montreal smoked meat. Despite choosing the normal filling, the bagel was overflowing with the meat to the point of being too much. The mustard didn't really help and halfway through I really struggle to finish since the flavour was very monotone. I think it's mostly an issue with me choosing the wrong menu and the bagel itself was pretty nice. I enjoyed the rosemary and the salt added a nice texture to the bagel. Next time I'll probably try the sweet bagel or lox.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Oct 14, 2023
I only encountered Siegel's because there was a line and typically if there's a line then there's something good at the end. I highly recommend someone waiting in line while another looks at the menu as there's a few different menus - I saw one for the flavors of the bagels, one for sandwiches, and one for specials.
I ended up getting the breakfast bagel sandwich on a. rosemary and salt bagel. Although the bagel was small, it was pretty delicious. I loved the smoked meat on it and the bits of sea salt and rosemary on the bagel.
All in all, I waited about 25 minutes for the sandwich to be ready which was perfect to explore other bits of the market.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Sep 26, 2023
The bagels are good and freshly made (you can see them being baked in the oven). It's in Granville Island Market so expect a line during busier times (and all the ambience that goes along with a crowded market).
I had a sesame bagel toasted with dill cream cheese. Bagels are on the smaller side than some other places ... not as thick nor wide. Staff were helpful and friendly, and focused on keeping the line moving (so don't expect extra chit chat that isn't related to your order).
The bagel is good -- Montreal style -- so if you're expecting something else then that's on you ;-) I do with they had chive/green onion cream cheese but as of this writing they do not. Price is reasonable ($1.95 per bagel).Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Mar 5, 2024
We were walking around the island on a weekday morning and stopped for a bagel sandwich here. It came out warm and hit the spot! I'd recommend stopping by if you're a bagel fan (or just have US expectations for your bagel).

Decent bagel spot nestled in the center of the Granville Island Public Market - felt like it'd be remiss to go without giving their lox bagel a try, as a fan of the sandwich. Texturally, the bagel was unlike any bagel I've had before; all in all, not bad, but a little on the dry and chewy side? Montreal-style bagels may not be for me. Bit pricy for what you get, IMO. If I were to go again, I'd probably try their Montreal Smoked Meat, as that seems to be more of their specialty based on other reviews here.
