A friend referred me to Singleton Smiles after I was not as pleased with my previous dentist office after my dentist retired and sold the practice.

The staff is so kind (especially Vicki) and Dr Pham is so gentle.

The office is modern, clean, and inviting.

I've also never had a problem finding free parking right outside the office.

Absolutely horrible experience at Singleton Smile. If I could give zero starts I would.

I wish I could comment on the actual dental experience, but I never got to experience it because their administrative system is a complete mess.

I found Singleton Smile through yelp and decided to go with them because of the great yelp reviews. Their yelp page links to their zoc doc profile for booking -- fine I have seen this many times before. I made an appt for Tuesday the Thursday before. Everything seemed fine!

I get a call, without caller ID, at 7:30 am the following day, Friday. The caller leaves a voicemail saying that they just need more info to confirm my insurance. They didn't say anything to make me believe my appointment was at risk of cancellation. This seemed totally normal and because my insurance requires me providing my social to the office to identify me, I decided I would rather provide this in person. Worst case scenario, I planned to pay out of pocket for the cleaning. I have done this countless times at dentists, including for my wisdom tooth surgery, without issue.

Okay so Tuesday morning, the morning of the appointment, arrives. I have been getting zoc doc notifications every day saying things along the lines of "get ready for your Tuesday morning appointment at singleton smile with Dr. Pham!" The morning of, zoc doc prompts me to do my online check in to speed along my appointment, which I do. Everything points to smooth sailing.

I arrive to the appt 15 mins early -- mind you I had to rearrange my schedule and miss a meeting for this appointment -- to check in and clear up my insurance confusion.

Well, this is when everything turns sour. The administrator says that there is no appointment for me. I'm like what are you talking about? I just got a text five minutes ago telling me my appointment is about to start?!

She then asks if I have a certain type of insurance; I say I do. "Ohhh we are not accepting clients with this insurance, there's a waitlist". I'm like well can I just pay out of pocket? Apparently this office has some sort of slimy, special deal with this insurer where if someone with that insurance wants to pay out of pocket, they have to turn them away. This is how she describes it at least. This is ridiculous because I could have just as easily never stated my insurance at the time of booking and not been treated this way.

Furthermore, it was never communicated to me in any way that my appointment would be cancelled. In the call that I mentioned earlier, they already knew which insurer I had and stated that they just wanted "more info". If what the administrator at the front desk said is true, they never would have accepted my appointment with this insurance. So when they called me on the phone, knowing what insurance I had, why didn't they tell me that they were canceling my appointment?

So, they went ahead and cancelled my appointment.

My frustration and disappointment is around this:

1) If my insurance was a problem, this should have been clearly communicated to me over written communication via text or email, which I provided at the time of booking. This way, I could have cleared things up or at least known my appt was cancelled before taking time out of my day to show up.

2) I was getting multiple notifications a day from Zoc Doc confirming that I have an appointment. Considering that Singleton Smile's yelp LINKS YOU TO ZOC DOC to make the booking, they should be making scheduling updates through zoc doc. One of the most frustrating parts of this experience was the administrator telling me "well Zocdoc confirmation isn't a real confirmation." If this is the case, then you should not have zoc doc be the only booking system YOU link to make an appointment. She was basically discrediting Zocdoc and the validity of appointments made through Zocdoc, but the practice literally links you to Zocdoc to make appointments. It all seems so hypocritical.

3) If my appointment was never validated through your office, you need to reach out to me directly and tell me that instead of wasting my time and letting me come here at 8:45 am on a workday. I don't care if you provide that information through Zocdoc or through contacting me directly or leaving a voicemail where you explicitly state you are not taking my appointment, but you need to inform me of that ahead of the appointment. I just don't think that it's an acceptable way to do business to waste people's time like this.

4) Lastly, I don't know what kind of insurance scheme they have going, but it seems really ridiculous to me that I can be a customer ready and willing to pay for a service and they still won't provide it to me for no other reason than that they have a special deal with my insurer that states that they won't accept out-of-pocket payments, but then they also will not accept patients with this insurance because there's a waitlist.

Nothing but great service here at Singleton Smile Dental. I remember looking for a dentist for a minute back in 2022 and was very impressed with my first visit there. I've been with them for 2 years and they've taken care of me. The employees there are really nice and help me understand about my dental health. Dr Pham is really amazing! Highly recommend her and the team to be your dental provider

Absolutely fantastic dentist! I was so impressed with Dr. Pham that I moved my husband from his current dentist to her practice.
She does all my cleanings herself, and my teeth and gums have never felt so clean and healthy.
Dr. Pham is a thorough, kind professional and answers all my questions with great information and advice. Plus, although I needed serious deep cleaning and a lot of gum scraping, she's always gentle and checks in with me to make sure I'm okay.
Everyone in the office is terrific, especially Vicki at the front desk, and Vanessa, the dental assistant. The office itself is absolutely spotless, and I have had no trouble finding free street parking right outside.
Truly, I would give Dr. Pham 10 stars if I could. Her practice, her staff, and her skills are exceptional. I highly recommend Singleton Smile!

Overall very positive experience! I just moved to the area so I was looking for a new dentist to begin with. I was able to get an appointment quickly and the scheduling experience was a very good; the reception was friendly, helpful, and proactive: they contacted my prior dentist and got all my info, films/xrays, etc ahead of my appointment so they were very prepared and I wouldn't have to redo xrays that I already had.

The service itself was great. Staff was extremely friendly, the dentist was thorough, and I felt like it was very comprehensive while still being fast and efficient. The office is clean and modern. And I appreciated the TV on the ceiling so I would have something to look at during my appointment!

I felt very taken care of and would recommend coming here!

I was searching for a new dentist for my girlfriend and myself. After a bad experience at a dentistry in Emeryville, I've had trust issues, and am very critical of the experience when it comes to dentists.

The facilities are small, but clean and modern. The staff are approachable, polite, and provide a pleasant experience. They aren't particularly talkative, but that's totally fine by me.

My most important assessments are with the gentleness of a cleaning, and the candidness of recommended course of action.

Dr. Pham, like her staff, is very polite, approachable, and exudes an air of calmness. It put me at ease. I have very sensitive teeth and her cleaning was more gentle than I would have expected. She was very patient and took her time. I also needed to get some more involved work done, and there was no pain or concern. Incredibly gentle and smooth. Quick at times when efficiency was needed, but never hurried. This alone wins my recommendation.

Going back to initial visit, when it was time to discuss my future work needed, it was fair and honest. To MY error, I experienced some initial hesitation. In the past two decades, I haven't had any procedures done beyond a simple cleaning, and a very long gap between dentist visits. When I was recommended to consider completing some re-work on the claim of existing cavities, I was concerned because I had the belief that I had no cavities. I presented my concern and Dr. Pham was able to explain the situation deeper, while providing me a mirror so I could look at exactly what it was she was describing.

The staff allowed me to call my former dentistry, whom I haven't contacted in more than two decades ago. They were able to confirm the previous work done on my teeth.

I went to my follow up with Dr. Pham and was grateful that she:
Recommended a course of action, and after I showed concern, she described in greater detail why.
Did not get offended or pushy when I showed hesitation.
Provided a pleasant experience on the follow up. During the procedure, Dr. Pham continuously checked in on my pain level, and ensured great effort to work on details when I showed the slightest concern of the feel of my bite (which she asked for- greatly appreciated), even though she probably nailed it on the first run. Post procedure was easy, by the way. No pain, and everything felt great 2 hours afterward.

Some things to understand, and maybe consider feedback for the staff:
If you are at all concerned about a procedure/process, it will be up to the customer to actively ask for the deeper details. I don't mind, and am typically the person to ask a lot of questions before and after a procedure. But a lot of people aren't, and I would be concerned if I sent someone with such a personality to get a procedure done, that they would have all the pre- and post- procedure information needed to ease their mind and prevent issues or concerns. So, for customers: ask 'why' a lot, especially if you don't know. Dr. Pham and the staff are very patient and answered all of my questions and doubts. For the staff: at least for my girlfriend and me, more details on what to expect and why, the better :).

I've been on the hunt for a great dentistry, and now that hunt is over. My family will be regulars here, from now on.
