Nice and beautifully maintained garden center. Many choices of pottery and plants. Wish their fertilizer selection could be more extensive. I usually come here to avoid the crowds at big box store especially in this special covid time

My favorite nursery in the area. The prices can be a bit high, however selection is unique and I have always gotten *the best* quality plants from here-- unlike other nurseries in the area, I have never had an issue with plants from here bringing in diseases or unwanted pests.

I was reflecting today on some of my favorite plants in my garden, and realized that all of them have come from Sloat.

Service isn't aggressive, however when you ask questions the knowledge pours out of the employees.

I haven't taken advantage yet of the rewards program, but there is one available.

Its early Monday morning with barely any customers in the store. I walked past several employees in the outdoor garden area speaking to my family about looking for roses. Nobody acknowledged our presence nor even made eye contact with us. My husband went inside the store and spoke to a lady named Jane. He said she just looked at him up and down, let out a big sigh before answering his question. I noticed 100% of the employees and customers were Caucasian, my family isn't so it gave me a feeling of being unwanted at the store. We left immediately after 10 minutes.

Am long overdue in recognizing this business, their employees and inventory. The nicest and most helpful people work here; I lean on Mary and Jan for their guidance and expertise. The prices are fair and even more reasonable than Home Depot ( especially on pots / containers).

Great selection now for tomatoes and peppers!

Nice selection, helpful staff, they keep their plants pretty well stocked... but they get hit hard on Saturday!! Prices are a bit high on some things, but that's to be expected.

With my newfound love for planting indoors and encouragement from my landscaper architect friend, came across this jewel. We have visited three of their locations so far and loved this one! They have the most adorable pots and saucers available specially if you are looking for those miniature ones.
In my planting experiments I have never had my plants thriving with big bright blossoms before. Now it is a different story.
They offer quality soil, fertilizers, plants and pots.

Polka dot & curry ( plants are not from Sloats, but are from Anthropologie, Walnut Creek and Apna Bazar, Sunnyvale respectively)
Gardenia and Pink Salmon Peralgonium/geranium ( plants are from Devil's Mountain Nursery)

I do not have a green thumb or an eye for what looks good together so i needed a lot of help to say the least. I went in the morning and Jane was able to lay out plants to show me what went thought went together. Great customer service. Everyone there was so nice.

Literally....and I mean literally. I was the only person in the outdoor garden area aside from an employee that was no where near me watering trees. I was looking at some flowers with my AirPods in, totally tuned out. I was walking through the aisles when I became aware an employee (not the one watering trees) was trying to get my attention.

I took out an AirPod to catch what they were saying because apparently they were having a dialog with me that I was unaware of. This employee tracked me down in the garden area to tell me I needed to wear my mask properly. There was no one in the area besides the employee 50ft away watering the trees, me, and this mask gestapo.

I looked around perplexed who I could possibly be spreading imaginary germs to...the only person invading my airspace was this mask wearing hall
monitor. I pointed out I was the only one in the area until he decided to chase me down....nope, this kid was steadfast on waving the mask flag at me.

I can understand masks inside. I can understand masks outside in crowds. Being in a garden area outside with no one around....ummm, can't swallow that one. This "manager" entered my six foot envelope just to enforce this weird social distance rule when no one was around.

If a tree falls in the forest....did it fall because of COVID?!?

They have redeemed themselves! We returned this year for Mother's Day to buy some more big pots. They had a beautiful selection of pots again, and also lots of people to help us move the pots onto carts and then into our car. It's amazing how much they Tetris-ed into our Prius. Lots of beautiful pots, plants, and super helpful staff this time around. Thanks a ton Sloat!
