Their service made our long-distance move easy.

We were moving from East Bay to Austin, Texas.
We sent out moving cost requests to several companies on Yelp.
Most of them didn't get back to us ( I heard that it is a busy time for movers as a lot of people are relocating since Covid).
One other business got back to us but about $3,000 higher than Smart People Moving and the delivery timeline was very long.

Alex, the owner of Smart People Moving replied very quickly with the best quote, flexible dates, and a quick delivery time (Texas from California was only two days).
They also didn't carry other people's stuff in the same truck as most other movers do for long-distance which was great.

Our 3 movers showed up on time on Saturday morning just before 9 am.
We had packed on our own for the past 3 weeks so we only needed loading service and some big furniture packing like a couch, mirror, and some chairs (highly recommend packing fragile stuff in a thick barrel box that can be purchased from Uhaul. We didn't have anything broken with bubble wraps and barrel box).

Our movers were friendly and nice.
We finished loading around 3:30 pm. The owner showed up toward the end and he drove on his own with one other mover.

Our stuff was delivered to our new house in Texas around 9:30 pm on Monday and the movers worked very hard till almost 11:30pm.
It is many hours of hard labor so we offered meals at both times, and they were very appreciative of it.

I am very glad that we found this company.
I am all about supporting hard-working small businesses (small businesses are usually also more flexible and efficient than big companies).

Smart People Moving made our long-distance relocation a lot easier and less stressful than I expected! And fast!

We had Eugene's crew and they were amazing! We are military and usually the military moves us. We have moved over 6 times so we aren't newbies. We needed to hire our own movers this time though. We were so impressed. We thought they were going to just put our stuff in the truck as we weren't moving that far. They carefully wrapped all our furniture. Disassembled furniture and then reassembled. I wish military moves went as smoothly as this! We did not have 1 thing broken. Which is amazing!!! That never happens! They also cleaned up all the packing supplies when they left. I highly recommend Eugene's crew. I don't know what other crews are like, but I'm thinking they are the best! So professional and nice. Thanks so much Eugene to you and your crew! My daughter made them a picture to thank them for their hard work :)

Truly excellent service. From the very beginning, the customer service was very responsive to my questions and gave me straightforward answers. Booked my day and time and it was one less thing to worry about while moving.

During the move, the 3 movers were professional and very friendly. They were stuck in traffic on the way over and made sure to notify us that they would be a little late and assured the clock would only start when they arrived. They took care of our belongings and really took a lot of the stress out of the moving day.

The price was exactly what they quoted per hour and we got the cheaper rate using cash instead of card. I would definitely pay for their services again!

Aleks and Smart People Moving provided exceptional customer service in preparing for my move. On the day of the move, Nick and his team showed up promptly, worked diligently, and executed the move impressively. Nick himself was personable, respectful, and sharp, making the experience enjoyable.

However, I must leave a one-star review as a caution to other customers and the owner. After the move, Nick asked to "befriend" me. His actions have caused me both financial loss and emotional distress. Although no property part of my move went missing during the move, unrelated property disappeared that day. He borrows money and fails to repay. He has a history of stealing. Nick operates with a certain level of sophistication, making it easy to overlook his capabilities. Women: please prioritize your safety.

When it comes to moving, I really only care about two things: 1. Is my stuff safe? 2. Is this worth the price? I'd give Smart People Moving 5 stars on both accounts.

They wrapped all my fragile stuff incredibly well, often taking better care of things than I would have probably done on my own. They were cautious moving things around corners, being careful not to damage any walls or any of my items. It was great to see how much care they took with my stuff.

I had gotten probably 5 or 6 quotes and SPM came out as the cheapest. I can be skeptical on using the cheapest option (am I going to compromise on quality?) but the other reviews made me feel more confident picking this company. I can say that they worked efficiently, despite being paid per hour, and I felt like the money I spent was well worth it.

For reference, they helped me move a 2 bedroom home + yard furniture. We filled the 20ft truck and it took them a little less than 4 hours from start to finish. Would definitely recommend them if you're looking for quality movers!

Hired Smart People Moving company to unload a packing cube and they were very responsive up until the moving date and careful during unloading. I appreciated the extra care with fragile items and big furniture to not scratch surfaces. They helped us arrange furniture exactly the way we wanted in our 1BHK. I think this service is worth the value and would definitely recommend it.

Terrible experience and would not use them again! My son decided to employ them even though they had a 3 hour minimum because they seemed affordable compared to other companies.

First the positive, they did a good job wrapping and protecting the furniture. It was down hill from there.

Early on, I realized that there was no incentive for them to work fast since they charged by the hour and they took their time prepping and loading the truck EVEN though we had moved half of the boxes to the ground level ourselves. The two guys struggled to get the sofa down the staircase and they actually broke a piece of our concrete entry stairs.

Given how long it took to load the truck, during the unloading portion, I requested that they move the boxes to the edge of the truck bed so I could move the boxes into storage after they unloaded the furniture portion. I found it comical that I (a senior woman) was able to keep pace with the two guys as they moved the boxes with two hand trucks as I loaded the boxes onto a moving dolly.

Be "smart" , don't be taken in by the pricing!

Great experience with Smart People Moving company. We booked for moving a 2BR within SF, Nick, Ken and the other movers were professional, hard-working and respectful. We did have a hiccup in the beginning causing movers to arrive later than scheduled time but the owner Aleks arranged for extra staff last minute at no additional charge so the move could happen within the requested time. Moving is a strenuous task and having these guys made it easier. Thank you team!

Eugene and the 2 guys were amazing. They wrap everything. They were fast efficient and brought everything up 3 flight of stairs at ease and no damage. Great movers great pricing definitely recommend. 5 stars!
